I'm not convinced. Why refuse the destroy option if you still want to destroy them?

I'll have a look at the refuse ending again.

Shepard is convinced in refuse that:

1. The kid may be lying (Good reason to avoid one of his options)
2. That they can win without the crucible and killing synthetics.

Because of this, you could even see it as Refuse (Paragon destroy) vs Destroy (renegade destroy).
They're trying to do the same thing. One is more ruthless.

Beacuse we lose Edi and the geth too, refuse can be, imo, see in two ways: i will not be a part of the this game, i refuse to destroy the ones i sweared to protect(wake up) or i surrender, i can not take this decision(Shepard dies)

Banshee let's think about this. Javik said along the lines " standing in the ashes of trillions of dead, and ask them if honor matters. Refuse is keeping Shepard's honor in tact, but Javik says Honor doesn't matter.

In Refuse Shepard is now standing in the ashes of trillions of lives. Now ask them if honor matters. Remember refuse was only added to let people refuse the brat, but if Destroy ending is breaking free of Indoctrination, and if you look at we came up with this before refuse, and Bioware if they planned IT, was using Destroy right.

I can't find the video, but right after the mars mission Liara says "You know we can't win conventionally" and Shepard has this really weird and awkward silence. Shepard never actually agreed that they couldn't win conventionally, it was just Hackett spouting it over and over.

Just don't use that character until you reset her powers. It's only an issue if you go into a game with it Posted Image

Uhm no, Shepard isn't convinced of the second point. She just knows that she doesn't sacrifice the soul of her species by not using the choices presented by the Reapers.

More like wall of entitlement, like the post that accuses everyone who doesn't pick destroy of being indoctrinated. Nice ego pushing going on again.

That's probably one of the best anti-refuse quotes ever. Sacrifices will have to be made to destroy the Reapers. Trying to save everyone is why a lot of people chose Control or Synthesis, and it's the same reason some pick Refuse.

Whether we can actually win conventionally doesn't matter, because this isn't happening. It's a test of what Shepard wants to do and what he's willing to sacrifice.

Just watched it again. You could be right. The dialogue seems significant.

However, I am inclined to agree with Blur here, it's your actions that count.

I guess we'll see.

Of course, but it seemed that it's what Shepard truely believed. Therefore refusing would be the only 'decision' that's staying true to him/herself and not compromising who s/he is.

I still like destroy, but I like arguing with myself :P

You realize it was Banshee's personal collection of quotes he liked, and he only posted it because others asked him to, right?

Only people who pick Control or Synthesis, because they are. Refuse doesn't make you indoctrinated, but what exactly it does is what we're discussing right now.

You should look up words before you use them.  Or better yet, go away and use them somewhere else.

Also Shepard doesn't think the brats lying. Shepard doesn't know what to think. Also I said what if the brat isn't angry in refuse. What if he is rasing his voice because he is happy that Shepard refused. Since Shepard doesn't want to pick Destroy/ wake up, then he has won. You have to realize Banshee if Destroy wakes Shepard up, which we see does in the breath scene, then the brat lied about Destroy.

So Shepard didn't kill anyone, and that means yor hands are clean. Think about it that's the handy cap about Destroy. We kill the Synthetics right. If they weren't a target, then everyone would pick Destroy. That can be the same as refuse. People don't pick it as much because Shepard does nothing. That's the point. If Bioware added on to refuse, then what. So everything that we speculated about was bad writing all together.

Shepard surviving Harbingers laser, the Normandy pick up scene, I mean everything. The literalist would be right after all. I mean come on. So everything was bad writing. All the things we comed up with was actually bad writing. I see Puzzle theory for IT, but for refuse no.

Unless they show Shepard waking up, then ya I would get it, but if it's a continuation after that point. I am done. There is just so much bad writing then.

Exactly. Here's a few examples:

Garrus: "If just one survivor is left standing at the end of the war, then the fight was worth it. But humans want to save everyone. In this war, that's not going to happen."

Shiala: (on Benezia) "She always sought the paths of peace and harmony. She joined with Saren because she hoped to turn him away from his path of destruction."

Shepard: "It's hard enough you're fighting a war, but it's even worse knowing that no matter how hard you try, you can't save them all."

(And then there's the one where you have the discussion about ruthless calculus with Garrus, and if you say you want to save as many as possible, he says: "A nice sentiment. Let's hope we will be able to live by it.")

If you speak like that when pleased Masster you are a terrifying person. The reaper voice is very menacing, and deliberately so.
