Well overall Omega did Okay. Now let's see this dlc all Bioware writers are making. It's either Citadel dlc, or something from the leaked dlc's, or something nobody has even heared about.

That is all.

But it does confirm that Montreal did the writing.

I'm more interested in the other Tweet he had about how the next DLC is IN QA ALREADY!!!! :o

Here's the link. Question...who's Ann Lemay?

mwmike: there is nothing left to troll about. in my opinion the idt got proven wrong with the extended endings (from which i absolutely loved the refusal one by the way). all you are doing here, again in my opinion - dont want to step on anyones toes again - is killing time by not realizing a realtime chat thingy like irc would be more appropriate for this kind of discussion. but if you ever came to your senses and started an irc channel somewhere i very much would like to join.

anyways, im about to leave you again, so if you want to reply, please do it quickly.

An interesting thing I noticed. When the first Adjutant is seen and you move through the dark facility the noise is really creepy and all. It starts to disappear tough to which Nyreen comments that "the whispering is disappearing" or something along those lines.

So the sound made by a Adjutant, a Reaper creature, sounds like whispers?

Might be worth checking out that bit some more. Would have done it myself, but I dident really notice the whispering in the background noise until Nyreen mentioned it and by then it was gone.

Oh, absolutely. Did it even need saying? ;)

Sometimes, when some of the community thinks other members of said community are "reaching" or "grasping at straws," I don't think they are giving proper benefit of the doubt. Writers are, well, writers. They write, they critique, they rewrite, they craft themes -- and at the end of the day, they put thought into every line. So I can't help but think that lines like "so be it" and "wake up" and "nightmare" and "whispers" and parallels to predictability/naivete as a means of manipulation, and parallels to ruthless calculus of war, or the not-so-subtle use of the chess board with an AI enemy, are absolutely intentional.

But again, this isn't always about proving a theory... it's about crafting themes and weaving them through a story, even post-release. At some point, you land on regenerative language that is so much more than literal -- like Aria's "How things begin isn't nearly as important as how they end," for example. It's a literal statement on the new partnership of Shep and Aria, but it's also a meta/tongue-in-cheek remark, and thematically resonant.

Bah. I don't want to come off as a blind worshipper, but there comes a point when I have to shout it from the rooftops that game companies HIRE WRITERS specifically for WRITING now, and it wasn't always that way in games. This kind of digging and unpacking of the story that we fans do now is not crazy or conspiratorial -- it's as relevant and acceptable as the Hamlet thesis I'm writing (read as: not writing, because I'm derping on BSN) right now.

Very well said. You can call me elitist if you want -- not you, Krimzie ;) -- but the truth is this is where the best and the brightest come, the ones who understand how stories are written and told, how theme, symbolism, and metaphors work, and all of that. I'm not saying we're all amazing and they're all idiots or not paying attention, but that's generally what it is.

So.. we didn't really learn that much about the Adjutants or what Cerberus' plans were (why do they need an army of Reaper creatures when they have indoctrinated troops?), we didn't get to go to Avernus station, we may have been given more subtle clues on Destroy/Control/Synthesis, the interaction with Petrovosky didn't reveal hardly anything at all, we already had the support of most of the gangs if we did the subquests on the Citadel for Aria so all we acquired was some extra eezo and a few more troops, there was no secret of Omega (it's not a failed Crucible attempt or somesuch).

Ok, I'm going back to MP for the next few months. Wake me up when something interesting happens on the SP front.

It is Cerberus, if there is anything we learned since ME1 it is that they will try to control any powerful creature to help them. Plus I kinda got the idea that he was going to turn the civilians of Omega into the Adjutants to create an Army. Considering Omega's size, that would have been one hell of an army.

Anyone find it odd Cerberus was very intent on mining the eezo? I don't mean that they needed eezo, because any military would, but Aria made several comments about running the machines to hot, that they were straining them, and that they're wreck the whole thing in a short amount of time. Since we know that TIM loves long, slow, patient, plans, why would Cerberus be so hell bent on having lots of eezo very quickly?

Same reason they're liquefying lots of people at Sanctuary: They're building a Reaper.

In a war, you can always use more troops...especially if a single highly trained team is tearing through said army by the dozens :P

Also considering the Adjutants ability they are perfect for making a massive army quickly or demoralize the enemy.

On the right, the ruthless Aria...
On the left, Nyreen, concerned about saving people. Aria says this makes her easily manipulated...

That is all.

But it does confirm that Montreal did the writing.

And it confirms that I have much less faith in the next Mass Effect title. I was under the impression that the Edmonton staff handled the script and Montreal did the rest. Not pleased.

That's quite the leap, BU. It's far more likely that they needed the resources to ramp up TIM's obviously doomed plans to control the Reapers. On a somewhat related note, if there was anything special about Omega, the DLC focused on it would've been the time to reveal it.

@Bill Casey, hee! Clever! Oh, Adjy, I wonder who you used to be... Hmm. Why is it that the ONLY time the game or codex mentions DNA, it is when it's being "eviscerated" (a la Aria's words in Omega to make an Adjy), or being processed into paste? Like, really. That's the role of DNA in Mass Effect, except for maybe the Genophage. So why shouldn't we be suspicious when the Catalyst is all HEY NEW DNA IT'S GUD U SHOULD TRY IT? Hmm hmm hmm...

Additionally, the beginning of Omega is such a strong echo of the beginning of ME2, except Shepard actually gets IN to the escape pod. 'Twas a nice touch since the games themselves don't always call attention to the fact that Shepard got spaced once. I'm not sure of the function just yet -- although making us recall Lazarus makes us think of the OTHER times Cerberus created and recreated controllable beings... good thing TIM stopped Miranda, eh? The part about control chips in Omega makes her lines in ME3 a lot more poignant, methinks.

That's not the only reason, I meant it adds to that idea.

Finally I'm able to play for an hour omg...so here's what happens when you take your time:

Aria:  "This is about your war Shepard" (first thing she tells you besides the game is all about Sheaprd right?)

Aria:  "We're not here to win a battle, just punch through the line."

Aria: "How things begin is not important as how they end."

Aria:  "But the people were free, their lives were theirs, I preserved that."

General Petrovsky:  "...You'll never make it, call it off now."

General Petrovsky: "She's not used to being defeated, it clouds her judgement."

General Petrovsky: "A pity you left Cerberus.  We all sabotage ourselves in nefarious ways.  Perhaps deep down you fear success"

I especially love Aria's control line. Even Aria,(or perhaps more precisely especially Aria) the queen of Omega believes in a certain level of freedom for everyone. Mind you she is not above using those same people to take back Omega, but still it is interesting.

Ok I know this chess game is going to be important in some way.  It's not a full board.

The holographic pieces have:  Queen, King, Knight, Bishop, 3 pawns and a rook that was just taken out
The physical pieces have:  King, Queen, two rooks, a Knight, 4 pawns, and two bishops (one whom took out the rook)

This is what it looked like right when you bring down the outer defense system

EDIT - TOP for chess
