Hey there, I have a question:
Why do the Reapers attack Sanctuary?

To make TIM think he's still in control? Is the brat affraid to loose control?
I've been thinking about this for a while now and I can't make anything out of it ...

Same reason they attack anyplace I assume.  Kill people, make people pudding, ect.  If the Reapers truly believed Sanctuary was a threat, capital ships would've obliterated it from orbit.  Their main guns at full charge hit as hard as a nuclear bomb.  That's what they use on stuff they consider a threat.

Alright, this is... this... I'm going to sound like a conspiracy theorist right now. I just am. And this is just a fun speculation, not anything substantial, and please don't think I'm nuts but...

You know how there's no music in the ending of Omega DLC? Well, there is an obnoxious hum in Aria's command center.

And her ending speech involves her having her hands on the controls again.

I know. It's the force field thing that just contained her and all, but it's just... I'm procrastinating on my final thesis right now so instead my brain is going overdrive on Omega. Productive, right? Cute easter egg if it is one, though.

You choices mostly effect Aria's attitude and outlook, with Renegade's being her new BFFs and Paragon's making her a better person.

I find the fact that despite being a ruthless **** for hundreds of years, after just a few hours with paragon Shepard, Aria becomes a better person to be rather interesting.

Kind of reminds me of the Jedi Exile, and how she influenced the people who traveled with her.

While playing Omega I was wondering why Cerberus was digging at such a unsustaiable pace. Digging for what? Did they find out about some old crucible or whatevertech at the collector base. Apparently I expect too much thinking that there might have been some plot twist or something relevant to the war with the reapers.

With all the mining eezo at any cost and the creepy vibes from the mines level I was expecting a plot twist at the end too. Turns out Cerberus was experimenting on adjutants (wich was already told in the comics) and Petrovsky is a bit of a sissy. <_<

To be fair, not everyone has read the comics and having a super-saiyan Aria after me would make me beg for my life too.

So I guess the krogan, quarians, geth, salarians and the citadel aren't a considered a threat by the reapers? What are they dumb or something?

see what you mean. I, being an anime nut, always think of Naruto Uzumaki when it comes to a protagonist able to influence others. to quote Kakashi Hatake: "He doesn't need much time, or many words, in order to make anyone want to root for him".

I just realized I didnt even finish my first sentence. There was supposed to be a 'to be rather interesting' at the end. Must fix! :pinched:

But without reading the comics, you miss gems like this shot of TIM groping a fresh corpse.

Oh well.  I guess it's not TOO creepy.  I mean it's not like he made a anatomically correct android copy of her and programmed it to be absolutely loyal to him.

...  Wait, what?  ...  Well.  This is awkward.

I figured the end of much less positive than "to be rather interesting."  I found it pretty annoying.  "You know Shepard, I've been the hardass warlord for a millennium but seeing you machine gun people down with a positive outlook these past few hours has really made me see the error of my ways."  What the hell's that?

I only didn't really complain about it because there's got to be some influence the player can have on the way things work out and I couldn't really come up with anything better that Shepard could influence.

It'a a combination between the Reapers motives and video game logic. They don't want to kill them al since they want to preserve them in Reaper form, and video game logic because it wouldn't be much of a game if the Reapers just blasted everything with nuke-equivilent lasers.

That actually directly contradicts what Harbinger says about all those races.

He considers none of them to be worthy of being preserved in Reaper form.

If the Reapers were actually about protecting life, you'd think all life they wiped out would be preserved, not just humans.

Seek the enemy of your enemy and you find a friend. I'd say deal with the Leviathans AFTER the reaper war seems like a smarter idea. Better use those cuttlefish as war assets now. You'll need all the help you can get. Turning down a potential ally is kinda dumb in my opinion.

I know not everyone has read the comics, but why base a whole DLC on a plot that has already been told? Basically if you have read the comics there is absolutely no twist or new element besides Nyreen. The point of Cerberus experimenting on adjutants hasn't been fleshed out (what where they gonna do with them, where were  they going to deploy them). If I remember correctly in the comics it was hinted that they kind of absorb their victims knowledge.
And the thing that bothers me is that actual interesting points that were present in Drew's books and previous games are not even acknowledged or developed further. Frankly with all the time they had they could've polished it a lot more. Just my personal opinion.

On the positive side I liked the reactor bit with Petrovsky.

Is it really fair to try and judge the writing in video games in the same manner that people judge the writing in books? Or film? or TV?

imo, writing for video games is quite different than writing a book. Honestly, it seems to me that all four mediums require a different approach in some form, especially video games. So again, is the criteria by which we judge writing in novels, film, etc appropriate to judge the writing in a video game in the same way if you need to take a different approach than writing a novel or screenplay?

No they don't want to preserve them in reaper form. They only want (and only can?) preserve the humans in reaper form.

I agree on the video-game logic though.

Harbinger directly contradicts Sovereign too, since Sovereign just wanted to wipe everything out. The Catalyst, the Reaper's boss, states that they will preserve all life, or at least the essense of every species, in Reaper form so I'm gonna go with what the leader says.

Well I'm gonna not trust a single thing the Godchild says. If the endings were literal, I'd still pick destroy solely because he doesnt want it. Trusting your enemy is silly.

Because allying with the enemy of your enemy always turns out well, and you can always deal with them after the main conflict is over.

Thats why after the Soviet Union collapsed no one ever heard from the Taliban ever again end of story.

Because not all enemies of enemies are friends, and to think so is rather niave.  The Leviathans are not trustworthy allies in any shape or form.  I'd rather use them as a distraction, and hope that if they aren't secretly in league with each other that they'd kill enough of each other in the process to be worthwhile to the overall war effort.

No they didn't. The beam was used to transport humans up to the Citadel to be processed and used in the construction of a new Reaper. The thing that leads to the "off button" was an elevator that i can only assume the Catalyst activates.

I like that random conveniently placed elevator to heaven.

Its even better when you have low EMS and Godchild angrily asks "Why are you here?"

You brought me here godchild.
