If they have problems with it they'll simply force it to be taken down.

ya but they agreed that under fair use they don't have a problem, but as the extended trilogy like how I was planning for all 3 games as a series, that's where they don't want to.

Its not all bad, the lady in the department was really nice and I appreciated her time and efforts

It doesn't matter what she said. No matter how you decide to post the videos. As long as you are providing your own commentary, coupled with your own subjective gameplay experience, makes the work transformative under fair use and shields you completely. I understand if you may be concerned, but I assure you you are in the clear.

Hate to break it to you but according to EA's permissions department/legal department it does matter.  What they say goes in the context of the video on YouTube.  I put the context of what I wanted similar to what you have described and they denied the request.  No worries really.  Just sad about it

I'm not going to spam this, but I did post it while most people were sleeping yesterday:

I've solved the puzzle.

I mentioned a before that my theory is each Reaper, though its brain is made from millions of melted people, only has one consciousness, one mind. The Reapers only make one new Reaper per cycle, why? Because each Reaper's mind is taken from the best that cycle has to offer. At one point in the leaked script a Reaper said "We are all Shepards".

Why do you think they were interested in Saren, but as soon as Shepard proved he was better, they went after Shepard? They want the best. Why did they fail to make a Prothean Reaper? They couldn't capture Javik; the Shepard of his cycle.

Remember Shepard's line to TIM when debating saving the Collector base? "Next thing I know, you'll want to grow your own Reaper". That's exactly what he's doing! That's his grand plan in ME3! And what does a Reaper need? Four things: An understanding of how to build it, a whole lot of eezo for the core, millions of people melted into goo to form the brain, and a singular consciousness to form the mind. Cerberus has both.

They have part of the Collectors' proro-Reaper hanging in their base, and the Illusive Man's been studying Harbinger to some degree since the suicide mission. Building plans? Check.

Cerberus's only true goal on Omega seems to be mining vast amounts of eezo very quickly, with emphasis on the quickly. The rest of what they were doing they could've done somewhere else far more easily. Eezo core? Check.

Remember in Sanctuary, anyone not useful in experiments or as troops was liquified, and now we know why! Organic material? Check.

"Humanity needs your mind, and they need it intact". We never did have an explaination as to what that TIM did to himself, much less to this line. Now we do. Singular consciousness? Check.

This also gives a better reason for dream-TIM from a writing standpoint. We've already discussed how having a goodbye with dream-Anderson opens up the possibility of him being indoctrinated or killed, but this does the same for TIM, as next time we see him, he won't be TIM anymore...

These are also listed in order of least to most important, story telling-wise; it has proper build up. While you can do Omega after Sanctuary, that's a terrible idea from a plot and story telling perspective.

Also of note, the official guide book for Mass Effect 3 calles the Control ending, the mentality and goal of Cerberus, "Become a Reaper". This gives that title much more meaning, as the other two endings match their supporters' goals.

To be honest, this is the only good reason that's been suggested which explains why they need TIM's mind specifically.

But, to avoid a lockdown over discussions about EA permissions for videos, I said the last time that Bleeding posted this (the time before the last) was I thought this was a brilliant solution to that particular puzzle

I dont see why you're so focused on getting permission. Just do it. Tons of people have done Let's Plays of Mass Effect.

Cause when one day EA decides to go:  "I don't think so" everyone will have their videos taken down but mine would be able to stay up because they were willing to say yes (hypothetically).  I realize a lot of people do it but a lot of those same people don't realize the impacts it could have on them for not asking in the first place

EDIT - ok I don't mean to make a video issue be the top of the page but it is lol

EDIT 2 - also at least EA will feel someone cared enough about their copyrighted materials to have asked in the first place even if the request was denied (no matter our preferences on how we feel about EA as the company)

Once again, their permission is not required. They can say "I don't think so" all they want. All video walkthroughs with commentary (and arguably, perhaps even those without) are protected works under fair use. EA can do nothing about it.

In this case, it most certainly does not. Your call, ultimately, but I just wanted to be emphatic about your freedom in this particular arena.

Except we know for a fact that the reapers do not have just 1 consciousness. Legion said this in ME2. He said that when Sovereign talked to the geth the programs within Sovereign called themselves Nazara.

Legion: "Sovereign. One ship, one will, many minds, like the geth."

So yeah, there goes your theory, into the water.

I'm not confused. It just doesn't make sense. The reapers each have a COLLECTIVE consciousness. A hive-mind, or better said, a collective intelligence. It's not a single consciousness.

Just finished Omega.

Absolutely loved it. Better than Shadow Broker, IMO.

It was so epic I immediately loaded my save game to play it all over again, haha.

Nothing much IT-related, although the Batarian Preacher said some awesome things, as always!

"WE are the Harbinger."

Nazara is probably the name of the people Sovereign was made from.

Lots of minds, one ruling mind.

Also in the original plan each Capital ship was once a Shepard like Avatar. Javik was his cycles avatar, but the Reaper never found Javik.

Also what was the real reason, other than Javik, that the Reapers couldn't put Javiks people into a Destroyer Reaper, or any other Reaper class? You would think that would be the best way to preserve them. Yet the are ground troops/ special task force untis. Ya I wonder if the Protheans were not the first race to become just ground forces for the Reapers, not preserve them.

Oh and didn't Vigil say that the Reapers left behind their Indoctrinated slaves. Ya that"s a good way to protect them.

Bah! Why do you have to use that tone? D: We're all floating theories here and it works better when we don't get snippy about it.

While your rebuttal is textually sound, "one ship, one will, many minds" does not completely sink Uranium's theory. A consensus of many minds is still one conciousness within one ship, but each ship can have a different individual will. That individual ship could take the will of an avatar of the species, a la Harbinger showing very specific character traits likely associated with an apex member of the Leviathans.

@Big Boss (lol it's strange to say that given I too have played Metal Gear)

Fair use is described as:

(1) the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes;

(2) the nature of the copyrighted work;

(3) the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and

(4) the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.

It's number 3 that's really getting me on it because it really would have involved significant videos of Shepard idle and/or wandering to destinations.

In the end it's really number 3 that's the primary reason why I can't even though it's non-profit and educational in nature. It's just too much content

If one mind would rule over all the other minds it would defeat the purpose of having a hive-mind. It doesn't make the least bit of sense.

The very definition of hive-mind that there is no longer an individuality. All the minds work together a group, and as a group they form a new identity. For example, the group of geth operating in the platform with the N7 armor is the group we know and identify with as Legion. Together they are Legion, but alone they aren't, they're just VI's on their own.

Saying a hive-mind can be ruled by one mind makes as much sense as saying that a brain can be ruled by one neuron. It can't. A neuron alone isn't worth jack. Only in a group, a neural network, can the neuron become part of something more, an actual brain, storing an actual mind with actual thoughts and memories. But a brain isn't ruled by one neuron.

But what are the many minds made out of.  As Bleeding has said, it's made out of thousands of brains so in his theory he can be correct and still fit that line.

The Geth are attempting to conceptualize what is beyond them in terms of a computer algorithm.  If they are unable to conceptualize Sovereign, then one of two things happen, they go crazy or well, they shut off.  In the Geth's case they conceptualized Sovereign as their "Old Machines" God and by offering themselves to Soverign they held the belief that Soverign would restore whatever it is they believed the "Old Machines" would do.  Sovereign took this and ran with it.

No it isn't too much content. If you're going to make a Lets Play, you're going to make multiple videos on YouTube. Each video will only be 20 minutes long. So each video, which you can consider to be an individual product, will only hold 20 minutes of the entire Mass Effect trilogy.

Trust me, making a Lets Play is 100% legal and EA can't do anything to stop you from making one. So just do it!

What was not-so-cool?

I thought the amount of content was good. And they absolutely outdid themselves in the level design department. It looked amazing and you visit some really cool places. I loved how the story played out in my playthrough. I wonder what happens if you do things differently.

I loved it. Then again, Omega is my favourite place in the entire ME galaxy, so that helps.
