Don't forget that Javik mentions they had an indoctrinated splinter group that wanted to control the Reapers.- Blurr.

And They became Indoctrinated in the end even though they wanted to Control the Reapers, and became Collectors.

Cerberus wants to Control the Reapers, but is Indoctrinated, and they have Reaper tech in them. Also you would think TIM would be smart enough to listen to his staff

"Sir our men have been hearing voices in their head." Well similar.

wow i can even bring my synthesis theory into this scenario. It's all a dream. The three reapers represent 3 states. Dystopia, Utopia & Euphoria. The three choices.... What if it's a game played between the three of them? They have said themselves that they were the apex race. What if it is all a game to them? Jesus this is starting to make sense now.  were the reapers a massive red herring?

Another fishy thing about leviathans: Why not rebuild their empire in the 50,000 or so years between cycles and slaughter the reapers on their return.

Once again, instead of hiding in caves lamenting their plight.

Maybe they were worried Sovereign would notice and call the Reapers back early to wipe them out?

But I agree, the Leviathans are very dubious. Why claim that the intelligence is "still performing its function" when it quite obviously went haywire? Why be so reluctant to help at first, then suddenly sign up for the war, based on Shepard's awesome powers of persuasion?

Probably related to needing a proper race to control. The Leviathans are not exactly build for fine manipulation which means they need a servant race to build them ships and what not and that requires control of that race.

Problem then is they cant let their orbs lie around in the open because then the Reapers would find the Orbs and know the Leviathans were still alive. So it would require a race randomly sumbling across one of the orbs early enough.

And the last problem is the Vanguard left behind by the Reapers to look for an deal with anomalies between each cycle. If a race started building a massive space fleet between cycles the Vanguard would most likely quickly realize it and acti8vate the Citadel relay to bring enough buddies to smash the fleet apart before it becomes a threat.

Well, maybe because the harvest was the funcion in the first place?

I think saying te Leviathans are reapers themselves is crazy. It's grasping at straws.

The Leviathans sure are a pessimistic bunch though. But what do you expect? They once ruled the galaxy, but now they're hiding in a cave deep under the ocean, ands it's all their own fault! I'd be a pessimistic emo too if I were in their shoes.

Spose that makes sense.

One final odd thing: the leviathans are made out to be a major thing, yet are completely optional. Unless they're supposed to be sequel bait they would make more sense as part of the main plot.

My problem is they've never tried to do anything about it in several hundred thousand years.

Surely 3 of them could take out Sovereign before he could activate the citadel. They did take out a destroyer with their mind, or something...

It was a capital. Which makes me wonder how they lost in the firt place considering they have the combat advantage and presumably a numerical advantage at first.

This is true. Actually it was a full capital ship, just like Sovereign, not a destroyer. They wouldn't need to build a big conspicuous fleet to defeat the reapers either. Just surruptitiously plant loads of orbs on planets all over the galaxy, then set them off when the Reapers land.

Maybe they did. Maybe they started the Crucible chain.

Besides, didn't the want to keep Shepard around to use him as a messenger in the next cycle or something like that?

Because it didn't. Hubris prevented the Leviathans' from grasping the concept that they were part of the galaxy, and therefore could be part of the Intelligence's plans. It did perform its function, but they didn't expect to be involved.

As I was the one who brought it up, I just thought it was necessary to remind you of the value of analysis from people who thought "dream of the god-whale" was an amazing story.
