I never got to try the old typhoon. It did seem bizarrely overpowered though. I'm of the opinion that it should be impossible to one-clip an atlas on platinum...Rifneno wrote...

so any speculations on when leviathan will come out? I'm very torn on whether or not I should buy it. on one hand it sounds like it will be a great dlc but I hate bioware so much for their horrible ending I just can't find it in me to give them money.
Ditto, except my hate is from what they've been doing to MP recently. I FEAR TUESDAYS.
I don't mind the multiplayer changes. You may cry, They Changed it, Now it Sucks, everytime they rebalance something, but I'm pretty sure you're in the minority.
Oh, is that why there's a sticky about the typhoon nerf including a video showing the nerf was twice as much as they told us?

Hmm. The save data keeps specific track of your conversations with Garrus and whether you influenced him more towards a C-sec or spectre path. Did that ever come to anything? Considering how much of the flags they transfered from ME1, almost everything came to be used for something. Perhaps those will decide what Garrus does in an epilogue of a post-IT ending?
Well, his dialogue in ME2 changes based on whether you encouraged his Paragon or Renegade side more. That might be it. Although it WOULD be interesting if that had an effect on a post-IT epilogue.

I would agree with that logic. Just because it's an Ultra-Rare doesn't mean it should be grossly overpowered. It has to be balanced with everything else. That's why I usually vary my arsenal. I like to mix things up.

The one-clipped Atlas gets taken out of context a lot. The guy had a typhoon X, which is just... omg. He was using warp ammo IV and rail amp III. It certainly wasn't one-clipping atlases for me on gold with just one lvl III consumable.
Now it's just not worth it. Between the incredible weight, the ramp up time, and the rarity the damage doesn't cut it. That ramp up time is something people often don't understand the significance of. A second and a half is plenty of time to get whack-a-mole'd on gold or platinum and if something flanks and takes you by surprise you you've basically got a really heavy locust to defend yourself. Then there's the stagger. Any stagger resets the damage. Of course.

The fact that it's ultra rare AND requires you to be exposed for prolonged periods AND weighs so much you can't use it on any power-reliant class means that it should have one of the highest DPSes in the game. If you think otherwise, I don't know what to tell you. Besides maybe leaving silver and seeing how healthy standing out in the open with a machine gun is on gold/platinum.
The piranha has higher dps than pre-nerf typhoon, btw. It weighs so little that adepts can use it and it's only a rare. But yeah, the typhoon was totally broken or something.

They gave us better weapons so we could beat a new level of difficulty, people uses it on another level and the ones that do not have it complain. I just can't understand why Bioware appeases so much to the whiners.

I'm just sick of listening to bronze and silver players with 1-4 UR's trying to tell me what a weapon obviously meant for gold & plat should perform like. Don't tell me what the typhoon should perform like and I won't tell you what the damn vindicator should perform like, deal guys?

To be fair, even though i dont have it, I never really complained. I knew it was overpowered as hell and loved it.
I dont know why BioWare puts so much effort into balancing a co-op only multiplayer.

They said they did inhouse testing on the Typhoon and found it leagues better than the other assault rifles, and still find it so post-nerf. It's still the best assault rifle for classes who don't give a damn about weight.
The harrier owns it, ammo issues or not. I believe I'll trust the parsing of guys that solo plat like Sp3c7eR and Stardusk before people still working on their kishock.

Just to clarify a few things on the recent N7 Typhoon balance changes...
We've done a lot of internal tests on the N7 Typhoon comparing it to other assault rifles and other weapons, and even with the recent nerf it is still incredibly powerful. One of the reasons for this is that the weapon has an inherit 50% damage bonus versus armor, shields, and barriers. This far outclasses other weapons in terms of damage bonuses against resistances. The Revenant, for example, does not get this bonus and does regular damage to armor, shields, and barriers.
As always, we'll keep an eye on the balance of the N7 Typhoon, but if you have the weapon please test it out in game against different enemies to see how it feels. The numbers can often be deceiving so it's difficult to tell how effective a weapon is on paper.

And thorough testing by players later in the thread shows that's BS. Now go finish up your kishock.

I've also yet to find a successful strategy for Platinum using the men & materials I have available to me. Joining a Platinum game is about the equivalent of throwing away five medi-gel for no credits as things are now.
And why people think Firebase White and its little room is a good place for a Platinum match.....
Back on topic, though. I'm hoping Leviathan is out Tuesday or the following week. These things usually come out on Tuesdays. And I may just start my third playthrough of the game when it does. Gotta see for myself how the Leviathan DLC can change all parts of the game.

Come now, no need for personal attacks. I just wanted to show Biowares reasoning. On platinum soldiers still come second only to casters (well in all fairness only the N7 Destroyer) and people still use it. It's my understanding that the weapon is for boss enemies (Atlases, Primes, Banshees) and you should switch out for small enemies where the warm up becomes a problem. People still use it, but not EVERYONE uses it now so I guess that's the point of balancing. I always felt that they should wait a few weeks before nefing a new weapon to wait until the majority of the community has used the weapon, rather than being outscored and then complaining.

Apologies for snapping at you. I'm just really sick of being told "it was op it needed to be nerfed" by people who only see N7 cards in .jpg form. A little sensitive about it as you can see.

Yeah I'm all too farmiliar with that coming from TF2, where people would demmand a nerf on a weapon that isn't even out yet, just based on the description in text form. It's rediculous and generally players just have to learn the ups and downs of a weapon over time. That's why I don't believe any immediate nerfs should be inforced. Also it seems that the community can't decide whether to make all weapons on par (great for players who have everything, terrible for people who don't) or they should make N7 or ultra-rares noticibly better. The multiple difficulty levels doens't help people's judgement of weapons either. I generally find Silver players are the loudest on the MP forums

London MP map. Area with the televisions showing static. To the right of them is an advertisement in an alien language. Does anyone with access to the alphanumeric font used in Mass Effect 3's asari-speak know what that sign says, and why on Earth is something like that in London?
