For me (and many others) it's not about spoonfeeding. It's not about explaining. It's about closure. If IT is true (which I believe) there is even less closure to the story than in the literal view! If they don't reveal it, it is bad/lazy writing.
I think you and I have been down this road before. For example, Jacob tells you that he's going to start a family, but we don't actually see his kid or anything. It's just implied that he's going to have a kid. Kind of like how Tali tells you that the Geth are helping them rebuild and that one day, they won't have to wear those suits anymore. We didn't see that (maybe in Synthesis), but it's implied. That didn't happen at the end, but just sometime during the course of the game. Kind of like how Conrad Verner's story wrapped up or that Krogan and Asari from Mass Effect 2 (blue rose of Illium or something).
Not to mention, closure for just the main characters, or the minor ones too and every single person in the galaxy? For example, Bailey or say, Shiala?
I think I brought up the LOTR argument in another thread, where you destroy the ring, and sit through a 2 hour motion picture that provides the ultimate closure for a game and shows you how every single choice you did along the way paid off (from a Mass Effect standpoint). That movie got a ton of flak for doing that kind of thing. Some thought that is not how to end a movie, but I'm just letting you know my opinion.
If they do something like that, fine. If not, then I hope people don't just quit playing or anything.
