Best advice for device objectives is to lure the enemies as far away as you can, and then sprint back and disable it before they get back to murderize you. That's... easier said than done on some maps though. Device objectives on Hydra is like the RNG pointing at you and saying "You. **** you."
Mmm, haven't played MP in a couple months. I wonder if it's more than aggravation now (for me anyway, obviously lot of people enjoy it).
Ugh. I can see why. It's amazing what an asstastic job they did with these things... and people really think they took a lot of development time away from SP for MP?

Was having that issue for almost 2 weeks. Don't use the e-mail options, takes way too long, live chat they might not have the ability to fix it, phone call best bet, might take 20-45 mins to solve but it's what finally got me back in MP. Make sure your From Ashes DLC is re-authorized when they fix it.
Not 100% on this but: the ME Datapad App might have something to do with the problem, at least according to someone else who got the bug and got help. I just uninstalled it from my ipod anyway, already got all messages and I keep up with MP for Readiness %.

Thanks. I did some research and apparently contacting EA Support via twitter is the quickest way to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, they don't return until Monday. If that doesn't work, I'll try the phone call approach. We shall see.gunslinger_ruiz wrote...

Wow. Congratulations, Bioware. Yet more evidence their plan at simulating Indoctrination is working as planned.
And yes, its a Reaper sympathiser thread. Going as far to say they feel bad about fighting the Reapers at all. Seriously.

Switched internet provider, and never had an issue since. Wish I could be more helpful, but some providers are just awful when it comes to stable streaming or port access.

It makes me wonder.

As an enemy? Possibly. But a lot of people don't consider choosing Control or Synthesis to be 'bad', so they'd refuse to accept Shepard becoming the new Saren.
Its more that I find the idea of a giant Reaper with Shepard's personality trying to have an intimate moment with their LI. Because I'm tired and disturbed in the head.

What I like is how you equip some expendables, get to say, wave 8, and then get DC'd because EA's connections suck... you lose the expendable gear you equipped, but you don't get the money you earned. That's just all sorts of awesome.

The problem is we don't know how social she is by herself. She is socially active when she is with people she feels safe and comfortable with, which is part of AS. Example, when I'm with friends or family I can be social with strangers because said family/friends are there, so I feel safe and comfortable. However, when I am by myself I am not very social at all, portraying the well known social aspect of that symptome. Merill is the same way. When with Hawke and co. she is perfectly comfortable with expressing herself since her close companions are there for her. However, when she is by herself, like when she was with the Dalish who viewed her as an outcast of sorts, she was very reclusive except to the clan member who befriended her, like the Keeper and Pol.Arashi08 wrote...
Correct, I can be more social in certain situations too so I understand where you're coming from, thought I don't know my own classification, but the point I'm trying to make is: why would you make a character's personality based off AS if said personality is an exception to the rule rather than the standard?LDS Darth Revan wrote...
I see where you're coming from, but like I said earlier in this thread I'm classified as a severe case of AS, yet I still exhibit the symptoms you presented even though I don't have WS.Arashi08 wrote...
She just seems more outgoing overall than someone with AS, at least in the sense of basing a character's personality on it. Plus she is alot more trusting and talkative than one would expect, especially from Dalish elves. She pretty much tries to get along with everyone, she doesn't even stay mad at Hawke for very long if you don't give her the Dalish tool. To me those don't seem like AS symptoms, except maybe her obsession with the Eluvian (sp) and blood magic and such, but that is too subtle since it could simply be attributed to her desire to help her people.LDS Darth Revan wrote...
I thought they said they were basing the elves appearance on Williams syndrome, but whatever. Even though I'm classified as severe, I can still be very social on occasion. Not saying you're wrong, just that it could be both.Arashi08 wrote...

She is actually a lot like me in many ways. I had a ciscussion with someone else about it back in the DA2 days and we came up with the theory that like me, and the person I was discussing it with as it turned out, Merrill may actually have Asperger's Syndrome.BatmanTurian wrote...
Merrill was unbelievably naive. It was like the director said " okay, she's child-like, great. Now turn it up to eleventy and we'll be square."
http://en.wikipedia....perger_Syndrome
Actually I think one of the character designers say they based her personality on Williams Syndrome
http://en.wikipedia....lliams_syndrome
espcially the "Elven" qualities.
As someone who most likely has AS, I thought Merrill might have it too, but she does beem a bit more...social than me somehow...
Not saying you're wrong either, it just seems less like AS to me based on what I know about the two disorders (not that I am an expert by any means mind you.)
When people think of AS they tend to think of antisocial tendencies because that is a typical symptom associated with AS. Conversely, people with WS are expected to be overly social, which is more of a trait Merril exhibits.
Liara would probably be a better example of basing a character's personality on AS, at least in ME1, due to her difficulty with social interaction, having a harder time conversing and understanding sarcasm and jokes, reluctance in interacting with people, and having a rather self-consuming obsession with the Protheans. Of course, having all these symptoms doesn't mean that she has AS (though having two Asari parents could cause some genetic abnormalities that could be the Asari equivalent.) Still, if you were attempting to relate her personality to one of those two disorders, you would expect her character to be based more on AS than WS based on those aforementioned character traits.
The argument I'm trying to make is that I don't think it makes sense from a character development or storytelling perspective for her to have a personality that could be based on AS but have one of its defining symptoms, the antisocial tendencies, not present, whereas she exhibits more obvious WS symptoms, so having that be what her personality is based on seems more likely.
To me, it would make more sense if the character actually had AS, and the audience and some other characters knew it, but she isn't stereotypically antisocial, or is more high-functioning than expected when it comes to social interaction. That would show the complexity of the disorder and be an interesting character trait. But what I'm saying is that if a character's personality is intended to be based on the symptoms of a social/genetic disorder, one would expect those symptoms, particularly more generally understood and expected symptoms to be reflected more in the character's personality so that peopel playing the game can look at her and say: "Ya the way she talks/acts reminds me of this certain thing."
Sorry that was soooo long-winded, but I'm better at writing than I am at talking so I tend to get caught up in what I'm trying to say when I write. As opposed to when I talk, where I just try to get the point across as fast as possible lol..
It can also be argued that she doesn't have WS either, since she lacks almost all the negatives of it which are predominant over the positives. The biggest example of this is the heart problems that WS have. It's hard to be a blood mage when you have a bad heart. another is the low IQ that WS people have. Despite being naive, Merrill is actually very intelligent and this is shown a few times in the game, though I can't cite any examples off the top of my head since I haven't played DA2 in a while.
I think Liara was just supposed to be the stereotypical "shy, nerdy girl" much like Tali was in ME2. Kaidan even refers to her as "the bookish sort". This being a RPG stereotype, plus her drastic personality change in ME2 and 3, thinks that Liara was just genuinely shy and not representing either AS or WS and instead just being that stereotype of the socially awkward teammate.
With her social aspect being explained earlier in this post, she shows every other symptome of AS. She follows every other part of the "socially awkwardness", such as not understanding figurative speech and the "head in the clouds" persona when interacting with the outside world. In fact, to reference my above point, AS may suffer selective mutism, which may make them not speak at all to most but excessively to those they like. She clearly expresses interest in restrictive and repetitive behavior towards activities,(like working on the Eluvian obsessively) repetitive motor controls(like constantly twisting her hands), great sensory perception, and physical clumsiness, which together are potential signs of AS.
If she only showed a couple of these, I'd say that she too was simply fitting the "shy, nerdy girl" stereotype used in RPGs, yet the fact that she shows all of these together is what has led me to believe that she has Asperger's syndrome, whether Bioware intended this or not.

Just finished the Geth Consensus mission...
EDI and Joker didn't have their usual exchange at the end of their Virtua Reality talk...
EDI: Shepard, I can confirm that this is the real world.
Joker: Oh, okay, well that'll solve that. Man, good thing we have an unshackled AI around to tell us what reality is.
EDI: Perhaps I missed some salient information
So seriously what's the plot trigger for this?
New Game Plus?
There's nothing I can think of I did radically different from my other playthroughs...
Other than this is the first time I haven't kept playing the same character over and over again...

*shrug*
Been a few months since I had to deal with random wave 8 disconnects and losing all my good consumables. I havne't really had any constantly laggy matches lately either, if it's laggy as hell I figure it's a problem with the chosen host or my internet bugging out on me since other matches seem fine.
