You mostly just missed arguing about what is and isnt canon.

Plus I got Hanar to admit that since he thinks we cant use Arrival as indoctrination evidence since DLC isnt canon, he isnt allowed to use the extended cut against us, since DLC isnt canon.

I would high five you if I could.
Hanar has been getting annoying lately.Posted Image

Its mostly in the theme of the choices.  Basically Jenson (the main character) has to choose between:

Uploading a virus that sends all augmented people insane, destroying the whole project and forcing humans back to their natural roots (if humanity survives the ordeal).

Turning off the signal that's uploading the virus, but maintaining a control chip in every augmented person - thus keeping a leash on everyone and controlling the development of humanity directly via the Illuminatti.  And Jenson joins them.

Turning off the signal and destroying the control chips, and using Jenson's 'perfect DNA' to allow complete augmentation and continue the project to transhumanity for all.

As you can see.  Destroy, Control, Synthesis.  Only it works much better in DE: HR, and makes a lot more sense in the context.

We all make mistakes, its just accepting them that's the hard part.

And I was never really into Anime, but it seems there's a lot to be gained from it.  Good stories and characterisations.  Considering I enjoy Japanese movies already, I might have to try some Anime some time.

What kind of stories do you like? I also prefer English Dub but if they have that, then they'll have English Subs as well.

The ending to DE: HR, for those who don't mind spoilers. The final conversation which outlines your choices starts at 45:58.

And you get a forth option as well - essentially 'Refuse' by destroying the whole facility to cover it all up, and hope for the best that humanity makes the correct choice on its own.

And yes, its an AI giving you your choices.  Though this one is throughout the entire game, and is a well fleshed out character by itself (and sometimes an ally, even if its manipulative in the extreme).

Those are great genres to work with. I'll reccomend Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood to start with. It's set in an early 20th century world and can be classified as a fantasy-conspiracy anime. It also follows the laws of physics mainly and those it breaks are explained very well in universe. It touches on many themes. It has great English voice acting, music, art and animation as well. I bet you will get emotional a few times during the show. It's 64 episodes so not very long and every episode affects the main plot so there's no real filler like most animes. It was so good that I actually bought it on DVD, which I don't do for most.

Haven't seen the YT, but it sounds like the same damn ending as the original DE.

Who knows?  I'm doubtful that it'll be blantantly obvious, but it'll probably be highly suggestive.  Bioware do like to tease.

If it's post ending DLC of any kind, it'll be pretty obvious my friend.

Goodnight.

As long as it's 20% or more different, it's not copyright infringement.

How different is FMA:Brotherhood to normal FMA?. I have seen both the anime and manga and i loved they were so different yet good stories on their own.

Its very similar, yes.  And apperently self-contained enough to not actually impact Deus Ex 25 years later.  But its visually stunning, and the music is on par with Mass Effect.

I would recommend anyone watching Jesse Cox's playthoughs though.  He's hilarious, bumbling, slightly OCD, constantly does silly voices but never detracts from the gameplay.  No idea how he manages it, but I love the guy to pieces.  He is also one of the few 'Let's Players' that actually completes games - so far doing:

Duke Nukem Forever (while getting progressively more and more drunk to numb the pain)
Deus Ex: Human Revolution + The Missing Link
RAGE (and actually raging at the ending...)
Skyrim (still not finished, 90 or so episodes in...  Infact is barely halfway through the main quest due to constant sidetracking)
The Witcher 2
Dishonored
Revelations 2012 (with his friend Wowcrendor - loving every awful moment of it)
Dead Space (not quite finished, but close)
Fahrenheit: The Indigo Prophesy
Saint's Row the Third
Payday: The Heist
LOTR: War In The North
Crysis 2
Anmesia (all while being taunted and made fun of for being a sissy by three female friends)

Just...fabulous.

Brotherhood follows the manga a lot more then the original Fullmetal Alchemist. Both are amazing stories and I highly reccomend both, but i prefer FMA:B over FMA.

Eh.  Bioware does music very well, but I think that's the one area where JRPGs still decisively win.

Fantasy or sci-fi.  Or Samurai-era Japan.

I got a few recomendations as well:

Seirei no Moribito:

Or Guardian of the Sacred Spirit as the english name is, is a anime set in a Feudal Japan-ish setting focusing on a Female Bodyguard as she is tasked with protecting the Emperors son from his own father. The reason his father wants to kill him is because the son carries a spirit within him. Very good anime with some great characters and battles. Trace amounts of the supernatural as well in form of the mentioned spirit.

Sword Arts Online:

Mix of Sci-fi and Fantasy, but with focus on the Fantasy. The MMO Sword Arts Online (SAO) is released in Japan using the Nervegear to provide a full 5 sense virtual reality experience for the player. The 10.000 day one copies are immediately picked up and the player log in only to find themselves trapped in the virtual world with no way to exit the game. They are also told by the games creator that if their avatar dies the Nervegear fries their brain, killing them in real life. Only way out is to clear the MMO's 100 levels and defeat the final boss.

In this we follow the player Kirito who was a Beta tester as he struggles to survive along the other players and too clear the game. Interesting on its own, but as the anime goes on it brings up some interesting points and questions about beeing trapped in a virtual world for an extended amount of time. Great characters and some superb battle scenes.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann:

Tough to place, but most likely Sci-Fantasy, but taken up to eleven and beyond. The story takes it beginning as we meet Simon who lives in an underground village along with his "brother" Kamina. Kamina dreams up breaking through the roof of the village an on to the surface. When Simon discovers a strange mecha which they name Lagann this dream becomes possible. What they find on the surface is a war between Beastmen and Humans, Beastmen using giant Mechs called Gunmen. And the plot only accelerates from there.

Gurren Lagann is ludicrous. Using a spiral motiff and a theme of evolution it takes both those up to eleven as the series progresses with more and more ridicoulsly awesome scenarios. You are constantly thinking they cant top the last epic battle when they throw something entirely new at you. Suprisingly enough the plot and characters are not lost beneath the insanity. A must watch.

I strongly reccomend you at least see FMA:B as an anime. With great voice acting and music, it is so much more gripping and emotional than when it was a manga. It'll make you laugh, cry, and everything in between. Easily one of the best animes of the past decade.
