Speculation, but it makes sense seeing how Relays work and all.  Maybe even a Reaper factory of some kind - a safe place for them to transport material back for construction and repair.

That'd make a lot of sense. The last time they tried building a new one it was at the galactic core, while this time they're apparently building it above a still heavily contested planet on the citadel that probably isn't secured yet either.

In this case, they probably only stole the citadel so the harvesting ships can jump back to darkspace once full, I hardly think they're all seperately building reaper bits to glue together eventually.

Despite it's flaws it's still one of the best games I've played in years. I didn't even care about the minor bugs while I was playing it the first time, it was too awesome.

I had a blast playing the first time, it's just the post ending firestorm pointed out many other oddities that make me not want to replay it, even under the lense of IT. On the other hand, I've no doubt it's better than screed, blops and halo.

C'mon, Mass Effect 3 deserves a GOTY. It's a great game. Only Deus Ex: HR can match with it.

Another good one is Raistlin's idea of opening the Citadel relay and storming its counterpart in darkspace. If the "intelligence" is real, it's more likely to be there out of harm's way.

A good possibility, assuming there is a station (I have this crazy idea that reapers can fling themselves at active relays) and even once taking the station, it would hopefully only contain an advantage, not a different out of the blue reaper off switch.

I've always pondered a "crazier" one.  We always just assumed the Reapers were in dark space because Vigil said so.  Vigil could be wrong.  What if they've got a whole bunch of galaxies on a farming mode and they just cycle through them?  The whole "dark space" thing never sat right with me.  It's far and away the biggest plot hole in the series to me.  There's absolutely no reason for them to hide out there.  Do you have any idea how asininely huge and empty the Milky Way is?  The nearest star from Sol is over 4 light years away.  If the Reapers just picked a random empty spot in the Milky Way, they'd never be found.  Ever.  It wouldn't be like finding a needle in a haystack unless the haystack was the size of Jupiter.  The writers know this too.  Look at the heretic station in ME2.  It's between stars "because organics have no reason to look there."  Even if you discount this, they had that wonderfully protected place in the galactic core.  No ship could get through the Omega-4 relay unless they did Shepard-esque impossible antics and even then, what good is it going to do?  There's no reason for the Reapers to hide in dark space.  It's just silly.  The chances of them getting stuck out there, like they did, is far, FAR greater than the chances of them being chanced upon if they just napped in the middle of the infinite nothing that is the Milky Way.

There's some decent competition.  I imagine these were all considered:

Halo 4 (lol)
Dishonored
Diablo 3
Assassin's Creed 3
Darksiders 2

Though out of all those, ME3 is probably the best.  2011 was a superior year for gaming in my opinion.

Why 2011?

They might not be found by random space ships traveling through the area, but scanners, telescopes, ect might pick up an anomaly if pointed in their direction and prombt an investigation. Dark space is safer in that way.

Many say Skyrim, but my defining game of 2011 was Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword to no surpise considering my obsession with that series.

That's my guess.  Based on their (admittedly still relatively small) losses they are probably eager to get building more Reapers as quickly as possible.

The Citadel is probably little more then a goo-production facility and depot.

The Proto-Reaper the Collectors were making must have been a prototype effort, considering they've only existed themselves for one Cycle.  Unless they were replacements for whatever the Adjutants were.

I actually had the idea after ME2 that Harbinger may have actually been a rogue Reaper himself, planning on creating his own Reapers to seize power from the others (in a very backstabbing politicial manner).  Hense why he was using proxies, hid himself and his base, and had a different personality to Sovereign.  I was proved wrong, but I thought it was a neat idea.  And I also had the idea (briefly) that the Collectors were actually Prothean extremists who had managed to survive by hiding, and were trying to use humans to create their own Reapers to reconquer the Galaxy and Harbinger was their prototype.

Assassins Creed 3 deserves GOTY in my opinion. Most certainly not Mass Effect 3.

Assassins Creed 3 is pretty much superior to Mass Effect 3 in every single way.

All by all, 2012 is a pretty mediocre year. Not too many superb games.

Telescopes won't see anything.  As long as the Reapers don't leave their headlights on, there's nothing to see.  When you're not near a light source like a star, space is dark as hell.  That's why scientists had been arguing over the possibility of a planet beyond Pluto for decades.  It's too goddamn dark to see if it is there.  Scanners?  What are they going to see, thermal emissions?  If the Normandy can hide its, the Reapers can hide theirs.

Here's another question though. If they do reveal IT... what next? The Crucible is a ****ty Deus Ex Machina. Even by Deus Ex Machina standards. Pulling the trigger on the greatest mindscrew in the industry's history and then finishing the story with a turd sandwich would be... So yeah, what next? There's no other path to victory even hinted at thus far.

destroy harbinger, the reaper signal has to have a source and he is probably it

Beyond Catalyst words we have no reason to beleive the Reapers are anything but sentient all on their own. infact catalyst dosent even discount this, he only says he control them, not that on their own they are not Intelligent.

In short the only "signal" probably beeing emitted is a the Indoctrination signal and the signal for their ground forces.

Portal 2

Also you have The Witcher 2, though I didn't particularly like it tbh. Lots of people do though.

Makes sense.

Another 'theory' I had was similar to that, the Reapers were spread between an entire cluster of Galaxies and would farm each in turn like a farmer plants and then harvests crops.

And I also had the idea of maybe they were preparing for something even bigger - an inevitable war with another trans-galactic empire.

For all we know, that could still be right.  But no proof.

One of the prime ways to discover things like planets and dark holes is how they warp the light coming from behind them. A Cluster of Reapers would be no different. It would not be the most obvoius, but the effect would be there.

At least with AC3 we already knew the plot was made up by a bunch of stoners who probably had a lot of fun making up all that nonsense on the go. I never played Assassins Creed for Desmonds over-arching plot. I play Assassins Creed games for their individual stories. Ezio's story was really epic. And Connors story was really epic as well. Really well done from start to finish.

I also learned a lot about the revolutionary war from AC3. As an European I never gave a damn about the American revolutionary war. I honestly didn't give a shit. But after playing AC3 I have to admit that I spend some time looking things up on the revolutionary war to compare the real-life facts with the Assassins Creed 3 story.
