Yep, Skyrim.  And Deus Ex: Human Revolution.  And Shogun 2.  And Terraria.  Dead Space 2, Witcher 2, Portal 2, Dark Souls, Saints Row the Third, Skyward Sword, Trine 2...

The list is huge, needless to say.  2011 was very good for gaming.

Assassins Creed 3 deserves GOTY in my opinion. Most certainly not Mass Effect 3.

Assassins Creed 3 is pretty much superior to Mass Effect 3 in every single way.

All by all, 2012 is a pretty mediocre year. Not too many superb games.

ironically AC3's ending was also dreadful

At least with AC3 we already knew the plot was made up by a bunch of stoners who probably had a lot of fun making up all that nonsense on the go. I never played Assassins Creed for Desmonds over-arching plot. I play Assassins Creed games for their individual stories. Ezio's story was really epic. And Connors story was really epic as well. Really well done from start to finish.

I also learned a lot about the revolutionary war from AC3. As an European I never gave a damn about the American revolutionary war. I honestly didn't give a shit. But after playing AC3 I have to admit that I spend some time looking things up on the revolutionary war to compare the real-life facts with the Assassins Creed 3 story.

More than the revolution, i liked the role of the natives

Even though that's one of the only few things in AC3 that totally contradicted actual real-life history. In reality the natives fought on the side of the Brittish because the Brittish actually took better care of them than the Americans, who were trying to steal their land. Yet in AC3 the natives are constantly bullied by the Brits and helped by the Americans. That totally didn't make sense and it absolutely contradicts real-life history.

I forgot about Portal 2. Very intelligent gaming and funny at the same time.

One of the prime ways to discover things like planets and dark holes is how they warp the light coming from behind them. A Cluster of Reapers would be no different. It would not be the most obvoius, but the effect would be there.

By warp the light, you mean bending it as in a black hole's gravitational pull?  They obviously aren't going to do that.  Blocking the light out?  That may work for something as large as a planet, but not for a loose cluster of ships a mile and a half each.  There's just not enough.  And even if that were an issue, it'd just mean they should hide in a nebula cloud.  Not that it would matter because even if they WERE detected like that, which they wouldn't be, people would just assume it's leftover debris from an ancient civilization.  They're definitely not going to assume it's a horde of robo-Cthulhu's napping until it's time to wipe out all advanced life.

And then there was the other side of the coin.  2011 has some truly offensive mistakes.

My own top 5 for 2011:

1. The Witcher 2
2. Skyrim
3. Deus Ex: Human Revolution
4. Zelda: Skyward Sword
5. Portal 2

2011 was amazing.

My top 5 for 2012:

1. Assassins Creed 3
2. Dishonored
3. Guild Wars 2
4. Mass Effect 3
5. Kid Icarus: Uprising

My top 5 for 2012 is really pathetic in comparison to my top 5 for 2011. It takes no expert to see that the games in my top 5 for 2011 are vastly superior to the games in my top 5 for 2012.

I'm actually annoyed.  I was nearly finished with The Witcher when my harddrive corrupted.

Now I have to start again before I can do Witcher 2.  Seriously, FU harddrive.

They will with The Witcher 3. The Witcher 3 will be the end of the story.

The Witcher was also planned like a trilogy, just like Mass Effect. Except CD Projekt Red wrote the entire story for the entire trilogy from the very start. That's why they end The Witcher 1 and The Witcher 2 on cliffhangers. It gives us a little clue about what is to come in the next game. I like that. It makes me all the more exited to buy the next The Witcher game.

Nah. Yennefer is Geralts true love. He'll probably dump Trish and get back with Yennefer when he sees her again.

Or they'll give the choice to the player. I guess they'll do that. It will probably be up to the player to decide whether Geralt goes for Triss or goes for Yennefer.

I like those three, Arkham City and DA2 (suck it haters) more than anything new this year that I've played. I'd call the 2012 mediocre at best. It's not like it's a balance between good and bad games, it's just been bad, meh, or whatever the heck ME3 was.

EDIT: Managed to forget Saint's Row 3 and Shogun 2. Damn, I bought so many new games last year and only four this year, none of which have wowed me.

Yep. CD Projekt RED is now what BioWare used to be, but even better, as CDPR truly respects their fans unlike any other video-game company.

I pray that EA will never get their dirty hands, paws, claws, tentacles, whatever, I'll hope they never get those on CDPR.

Mass Effect 3: Rated M for Mature.
Traynor wears a bra in the shower.

Witcher 2: Rated M for Mature.

Gotta admit I've never played the Witcher series even though everyone keeps gushing about it. A non customizable main character in an RPG always pus me off, even though I really liked HR.

Are you kidding me? That's the most romantic thing ever! I really loved that story in The Last Wish. It really showed Geralts more humane side. It showed he's just a human with feelings too.

Andrzej Sapkowski left everythng open to interpretation, i don't think Geralt asked Yennefer's love anyway :D the gene could still kill them after all if he did,
