Well we do see Shep get indoctrinated.

No, as a matter of fact most of us didn't see that. Maybe because it isn't true?

Yes, but this is the IT thread. So WE do see it :)

I guess that must mean YOU are so much smarter than the rest of us.

I find it really f*cking hilarious that you believe you're smarter than the rest of us because you believe in some kind of derp conspiracy theory based on a crappy-written video-game. Honestly, it's quite sad really, but hilarious at the same time.

Serious question for all: If it's not a post end DLC, what could it be? Posted Image

sythesis foreshadowing :alien:

We had that already, it was called Overlord.;)

Seriously though, I really can't imagine what this DLC might be apart from post ending. Can anyone think of any obvious plot threads left hanging that they might want to tie up in the same manner as Omega?

Um, Mass Effect 3 is only crappily-written in YOUR opinion.  In my opinion, it's brilliant.

So instead of doing the logical thing, which is capturing the Citadel and shutting down the relays to prevent Shepard to unite the galaxy, you know, what they used to do in the past and always succesfully did, they instead desperately try to indoctrinate Shepard?

I have to attibute this to video game logic. It wouldn't be much of a game if the Reapers just did that.

Well, maybe they didn't shut down the Relays because they were trying to lure the organics into a trap....

i think he meant from the beginning of the game, like instead of attacking Batarian space & Earth first.

Ah, so indoctrination is a choice now? Riiiiiiiiiight.

Or are you trying to say indoctrination only works on bad people? That's even more silly. I guess the reapers and their indoctrination aren't that fearsome and powerful after all, are they?

Are you for real with this? Yes, indoctrination is a choice, very much so. There's no mind control, you willingly side with them. They manipulate you, make their ideas seems way better, and yours terrible, but at its core it's still a choice. Many are indoctrinated trying to do good.

Ah, indoctrination is a choice. And how exactly is it that only the "badguys" get influenced by these mindtricks exactly?

Indoctrination works on weak-willed, naive, and/or power-hungry people, as it plays to their desires. Saren thought he was saving everyone and TIM thought he could control Reapers, a fool's errand. Both ended up serving the Reapers' purposes.

So Saren, the most succesful, most respected SPECTRE in the universe was weak-willed and naive? Are you f*cking kidding me?

And TIM, the most elusive "gang leader" in Mass Effect, considered a real thread by many in the universe, respected by his peers such as The Shadowbroker and the Alliance, was also weak-willed and naive? (laughs)

Paragon Shepard is vulnerable because he wants to save everyone, while Renegade Shepard is vulnerable because he'll do anything to stop the Reapers. Both those motivations can be exploited easily.

So you admit that Paragons are also vulnerable to indoctrination. Good. Now explain to me why only the "badguys" in Mass Effect get indoctrinated and NEVER the goodguys, such as Shepards crew members or better: his Love Interest.

Good guys DO get indoctrinated. Matriarch Benezia initially joined Saren to 'steer him down a gentler path' ie she was NOT a bad woman. Indoctrination, which she fought, turned her into an antagonist, which it would probably also do with Shep's friends or LI. She certainly didn't start out as a villain, as is made clear by Liara's conversations with Aethyta in ME3.

Rana Thanoptis was not an antagonist or 'bad guy', just a scientist working on a project, who went on to do bad things because she was indoctrinated.

Shiala, the green-skinned Asari from Feros admits in an e-mail in ME3 that she is still indoctrinated, but can overcome it due to her telepathic/empathic connection with the colonists. She is one of Shepard's friends.

I agree it would have been an interesting turn of events had someone closer to Shep fallen under the Reaper's' influence (personally, I would have liked it to be Hackett or a non LI crewmember), and that is perhaps a missed opportunity, but it isn't true to say that it's NEVER the good guys. It just isn't the main cast.

In reference to earlier points, Udina isn't necessarily indoctrinated. His codex entry after Priority:Citadel leaves his motivations open to interpretation (like so much else in ME3 :P), the player can either believe his actions were due to brainwashing, or believe (as I do) that he was a slightly silly, xenophobic and desperate man who wanted/needed a quick way to force the Citadel to rally behind Earth and saw Cerberus as the solution. No indoctrination necessary for him to act as he did, and thus no need for it to justify his being shot. Petrovsky in Omega is also not indoctrinated - just someone who has always believed that Cerberus looks after the interests of humanity.

That's what I'm saying though. The moment the Reapers would lock down every relay, the game would cease to be because there is nothing the galactic community could do to stop them anymore, thus not being very fun.

Ooh juicy! One one hand I'm intrigued by that idea, on the other I'm slightly bummed out. I was hoping that the only possible story they could tell would be post ending - as that would be far more interesting for me. Oh well.
