@byne- can you explain why that scanner is only protecting the conference area, the crucible construction area, and the comm room?

Wouldn't it make more sense to put it next to the airlock so you can protect more areas? I can see someone walking on the Normandy with "no weapons" but sabotaging the engines or the galaxy map or the cockpit because the scanner is in and protecting the area that needs it the least

Because that's where they keep very important guests that are world leaders and such. Seemed fairly straight-forward.

I think there are gaming oddities, and then there are those things that are intentionally wrong. It isn't always easy to infer intent, but there is a difference between no weapons on the Citadel and the balls to the wall crazy that is the ending

not really. I've always thought it to be odd. So who are they protecting the leaders from?  The Normandy crew?  Plus as a loading screen that's also odd. So we have large areas in the game that doesnt always need a load area but in a small CIC we need a loading area?

I don't know why it needs a loading screen, but it does.  That's what it is.

I don't know why it needs a loading screen, but it does.  That's what it is.

It needs access to the galaxy at war data in your account that's probably why.
The loading screens in this game are a great improvement over the ME2 loop videos. Did you know in PC you can replace them with a logo and they load in like five seconds?

since I missed it were you all able to explain why QEC has interference when it should exist with no interference because only two particles can be entangled (why even TIM had no problem communicating with us while we were beyond the Omega 4 relay), why it can mysteriously connect to multiple people yet only one pair of entangled particles exist and not presented in full color like in ME2, and needing the same circuitry patterns as on the shadow broker ship?

and probably most important why change the definition of what a QEC is when it is already proven scientifically just like in how ME2 defined QEC?

It would be trivial to get a spy or assassin aboard a ship like the Normandy*.  Weapon lockers will be on every level for anti-boarding reasons, not just the main armory in the shuttle room.  Even without them, weapons can likely be smuggled onto the ship past the scanners in any number of ways.  The QEC, Meeting Room, and Communications hub are all restricted areas that would normally require the highest clearance to get into and would likely be staffed by all manner of VIP's and high ranking officers.  It makes sense to offer that area a little extra security.

*Remember, the Alliance didn't know that EDI was an AI capable of monitering every single crewmember 24/7 right down to which bathrooms they try to peek into.

I've been following this thread loosely ever since I finally got around to completing ME3. I am a huge Mass Effect fan and got 1 and 2 on their release days, but due to becoming a dad in late 2010 I haven't had a lot of gaming time and for whatever reason, Mass Effect 3 got pushed aside. I did absolutely NO research on ME 3 from April until I finished it last month. I had heard from twitter and friends that the ending was horrible, but like anyone who hasn't played it, I was like "it can't be that bad". I was wrong, shortly after beating it (and choosing Destroy) I immediately googled it, and stumbled onto Acyvos video. Long story short, I love what you fellow ITers do, and look forward to the true ending. #WakeUpShepard

wouldnt it make more sense to put the loading screen with thee war assets?  It have a spinning graphic or some thing like the elevator moving. Because where it is now would require 2 loading screens. One for entering the conference area war asset QEC and one to access the assets themselves. It would be inefficient if no one ever checks their war assets to always load them every time you walk into the room with the scanner. I know I didn't check my assets every single time i was there and earned something. Plus you can even play offline and it only has to load what's on your save file of assets

Hellish is grasping at straws again.  It's segregation of gameplay and storyline.  There's no reason to walk around the Citadel armored and armed, so you don't.  When you go into the shooting range, it all magically appears.  When Bau needs to shoot an indoctrinated jellyfish and his bodyguard, he pulls a gun out of his ass.  Spectres can carry guns wherever the hell they want.

And the "scanner" on the Normandy is a poorly disguised loading screen.  Try disabling clipping and running through it sometime if you want to see why it's there.

So much this. The no guns thing is really reaching. And what would it mean if anything?

Look, apparently Hellish wants us to 'discover for ourselves' that everything since Arrival was a dream... well. Rif talked earlier about turning a fanbase into a lynchmob, I think that still applies. It is an insane idea and it would be beyond lame. These guys have really gone off the deep end if that is truly what they think. What would be the point of it anyway?

Hey everyone, ME3 was just a dream during a piece of DLC you didn't buy LOL, here come the real game.

At least IT makes some god damn sense.

The Normandy Weapons scanner has the same purpose the elevators used to have, and sometimes still do.

*Remember, the Alliance didn't know that EDI was an AI capable of monitering every single crewmember 24/7 right down to which bathrooms they try to peek into.

So the super secret mass effect one of a kind stealth engine is not restricted and is protected by 4 engineers?  Odd. The area housing the Reaper IFF is not restricted?  Odd.  The Thanix Cannon is not restricted and protected voluntarily by one crew member that's not Alliance military?  Odd. The staff in the restricted area seem to be low ranking staff members?  Odd. Even the room with Liara and the mock Shadow Broker is not restricted and is protected by a drone and an Asari who is also not Alliance military?  Odd.  You'd think she'd need special clearance to set that up but she did and wasn't restricted. Odd.  As far as I know anyone can walk in The shadow broker room. Odd. EDI's mainframe is protected by a medical doctor?  Odd.
Even in Star Trek the bridge, engineering, the armory, the main computer, as well as a few other areas are all restricted areas. When there are guests, they are escorted. When there are reasons guards are often at the restricted areas.
I just don't see how a conference table is deemed more important than a one of a kind stealth engine. Ditto with a communication console that's supposed to link to only one person/location compared to say the Reaper IFF device, ditto with a display hologram compared to the entirety of the shadow broker archives

We don't really know if that's QEC it could be normal hologram through comm buoys.

And you could in ME1, even before you were a Spectre.

The 'problem' would have been solved if Shepard's casual gear always had a sidearm, even if it was just for show.

The same comm buoys that almost made Hackett's message indecipherable with static? And why would it look the same as QEC holograms then?

Basically, if it looks like a QEC and acts like a QEC....

@rif I remember that explanation. Ok after you reminded me lol.

So QEC takes a leap forward yet it's still light years behind TIM's version? Couldn't they reverse engineer what TIM has? It should be pretty identical if not mostly similar yet it is still light years behind.

People seem to do the reverse engineering all the time even though they shouldn't. For example, we have aircraft carriers. China went and bought one and reverse engineered the thing and fixed it up. Now they have pretty much a perfect replica of an aircraft carrier. The only thing they can't do yet is land planes because well they haven't learned how to do that on a carrier. But the carrier can do everything else ours can.
