Megumi, what do you think of this:

- The refuse stargazer scene is different because Shepard knows (s)he didn't save this cycle.
- The three regular stargazer scenes are identical because in every ending, Shepard believes (or is made to believe) (s)he saved this cycle/ended the Reaper threat.

Shep can die before this scene plays (low EMS) thus this scene is unrelated to Sheps state of mind.

Unless, you know, "the future flashed, for me". ;)

What the hell? Megumi keeps trying to argue things literally from an IT perspective. Shepard's not dead in IT.

Anyway, forgot about that quote DD, nice. Did you see my video?

I can see it as both. maybe with a low EMS, Shepard realizes that this cycle won't win and thus doesn't have the happy future scene with Grampa Aldrin.

It was brought up and it is not the case. You can see the child is still transparent but the effect on it causes it sometimes to look like its original texture (because of the surface normals), and the transparency in this case causes the electrical effects not to draw because of using alphatest instead of alphablend and a wrong draw order.
As a reference take higher res screenshots:

I took the highest resolution screenshots I could get on youtube. I don't have the PC version. :kissing:

I'm not entirely convinced by your explanation, even though you could be technically right, it could stil be intentional. Even though still partially transparant in some shots, the colours of the textures seem to be correct... what should be dark is dark, etcetera.

By the way, have the textures in the transparant model not been entirely replaced by the infamous 'dreamglow' texture? In that case, your explanation would not explain how the light and dark parts are showing up like they are on the normal model of the kid.

Not that I have any solid idea what it would mean anyway. It just seems interesting.

Low EMS is a valid ending. Unlike Shep dying on the Collector Base.

Yep, but it's not the main goal (am I talking to a wall here???) if you play it from a IT viewpoint.

IT doesn't mean "uh nu! I gut tu get teh breth scene!"

I know that, but it's also not "low EMS".

For IT to make sense it has to apply for any ending.

Like dying on the collector base?

Sure, Shep was tricked in believing it was best to let go instead of pulling Joker with him. Nice play Harbinger, nice play.

What heresy are you spreading here, MegumiAzusa!? IT applies to ME3's ending.

Shep dying in ME2 is a valid ending to that game (my opinion) could you please explain why you think it's not valid?

Invalid in terms of getting neither the chance in trying to stop the Reapers nor getting the Crucible rolling.
It would be a valid ending if we say anything that doesn't get you a critical mission failure screen. I actually would find it quite nice if the next DLC would be like The Darkspawn Chronicles" where you play the events from a perspective where Shep died on the Collector Base.
It's just that Sheps story ends there, permanently and prematurely. ME3 is the end of Sheps story anyway.

If Shepard dies in ME2, he succeeded in completing his/her mission, but died. One can only assume that by the events of ME3, the Reapers easily won. It is possible for Shepard to die while still being Canon for that game. The trilogy is about Shepard, so if he dies in the story before it is finished, of course you can't recognize Shepard in the future, and since the player is Shepard, you can't continue. Same with say, synthesis. You complete the game, that is a valid ending, but you can't win because Shepard has been indoctrinated, the galaxy is screwed. You may see the consequences of this. If they plan on making ME4 in the future, an ending must be chosen from ME3 to expand from. ME3 expanded upon Shepard surviving- that doesn't mean if you die in ME2 that that ending is invalid.

It proves or disproves nothing.

I'm going to have to +1 this honestly. If you have low EMS, you suck or did it on purpose. You're not playing Mass Effect right. It's like playing action mode... Posted Image

It's just that I want ALL the content. Why should low EMS be disregarded? It is still content of the game we are discussing. If we stop to take everything into account where do we draw the line? Next thing you do is to disregard everything that doesn't fit with IT... owait.

Low EMS Shepard sucks and shouldn't even be used as evidence. If THAT was the best someone could honestly do in this game (not on purpose) then why did they even bother?

There I said it.

Remember, you can't even get synthesis! Presumably because the Reapers are dissapointed in Shepard not living up to their standards, so it isn't even worth it.

Edit: Top! I also read your post from 2 pages ago when you made it. It is one of the greatest posts I have seen in a while.

You can't even get Control or Destroy based on the Collector Base.

Exactly, you were so bad in getting the galaxy to rally for the cause, that the Reapers no longer find you usefull (other than as a husk possibly) it would not help them in their plans to sabatoge the Galaxy using Shepard.

I actually did: it's because of the surface normals. That's the stuff which is used to calculate fake shadows etc you can see for example the folds in the kids trousers. These are not polygons but because of the calculated normal which results in the opacity differences.
You can even see these folds before...

You choose Destroy, break free of Indoctrination, but since the Galaxy isn't united, everybody evaporates.

Invalid in terms of Shepards continued story. But as I already said it was bad wording, which I actually mostly corrected in the post you quoted. You don't know if synthesis -> indoctrinated, thus being that certain doesn't make sense in the first place. You only believe it to be that way. It doesn't have to be that way.

Are you kidding me?
"But what about the ME2 end where Shepard dies? That should be counted too!"

Low EMS is not nearly as important because it's simply a worse version of something else that already exists. It's like saying we should use an Avenger 1 because it's different than an Avenger X. The Avenger X is better in every way. Not the best analogy, but it works.

So, has anyone noticed Seth Green's twitter recently? He has a picture of himself, Ali Hillis and Courtenay Taylor... and a picture of him and Ahmed Best sharing the mic.

Nevermind, wrong guy

Still, interesting that he'd be hanging out with Courtney.
