Hard to believe its been two years since we premiered the ME3 'sniper' piece on the VGAs. Damn, we worked hard on that thing... :)

I would like to believe that they will premier something reasonable at the VGAs (WHAT ARE THE VGAs??) but my expectations for them announcing anything important are pretty low.

Though of it is something for squadmates........

:o:O:):):D

VGA's = Spike TV's Video Game Awards.. generally they have a really poor reception and they tend to be catering to the mainstream more than anything... plus the "winners" are really suspect a lot of the time.

Either way, they usually have a lot of good game reveals.

Do you guys have any safe source to watch VGA's? For whole week I thought they're gonna stream it on their site, but apparently, as I discoverd just today, they won't

The twitt about sniper is the second one.
I was reffering to the "All done with with VGA content for Spike's award show this Friday. Huge thanks to @geoffkeighley and his team for being great to work with."

But this new twitt about the ME3 teaser trailer reveal - is even more interesting. The hints start to pile up.

Thank you.

Description of VGAs from my DVR:
"Games from 2012 are honored, and "Assasin's Creed III" is among the nominees."

It starts at 9p.m. If you are not EST, in 4 hours.

Shameless bump, since it was almost ignored.

 Ok, so here goes.

First of all i would like to say, that I'm not screeming OMG CITADEL IS FAKE!! etc.
this could mean nothing  - could be just the way the levels are made.
But stil it is quite a strange choice to make them that way.

First - the way the levels are made really suggest that the part with the memorial wall in the Dock Holding is not real. - it is simly not there.
Observe:
Here it is in the Dock Holdings area.
Posted Image

As you can see here the dock holding area is directly below the Normandy.

Posted Image
so this area here is the same dock holding area.  (note it is absolutely empty, which is strange by itself, but i will come back to that)
Posted Image

But if you try to look at place where the memorial wall should be - you'll see this (and you don't even have to go to the very edge of the map or something - it is clearly visible from any point that it is simply not there at all)
Posted Image
Why would they make a level like that? I can get the absense of people - it may be so not to strain the game performance (but we will get to that.)  but why do this? For this to happend they would have to do MORE work - they would have to take the model of the level and REMOVE the part with the memorial wall. And then they would have to add the citadel presidium level in. (which is fully animated by the way - the cars fly by, the water moves etc)

Now, let's come back a little - remeber the window where you can look down on the Dock holdings level?
Posted Image:D
Why is it empty? it is the same place we visit in the game- why is it empty? Performance issues? Really? Ok, let's take a closer lood at the notmany's dock level - It is actually HUGE
Let me demotstrate -
Posted Image
See? that is actual level - all of it - with animated random generated NPCs! See those two turians? here's another screenshot a second later
Posted Image
They are actually walking - so the whole level exists as a level, not just as simple background.
Posted Image
Posted Image
So why is this area is completely empty??
Posted Image
By the way - that exact point - is the ONLY place where you can hear the "If you're hearing strange voices or having unusual headaches - pleace contact the nearest C-Sec officer for immideate assistance." And the best part that it triggers each time you go from the elevator to the normandy and pause at this exact spot to observe the area - you just have to wait like two or three seconds. And it is the only way to get it - you can't get it again in the random loop.

But you might say, that it is common, they do their levels like that all the time. Indeed. They do. On the Citadel.
Here's another example -the view of presidium commons from the huerta memorial hospital - it is also completely empty
Posted ImagePosted Image
But there is a catch. They are not copletely empty - not the bird on the roofs - the very same that the presidium commons level has. And they are completely animated.
Posted ImagePosted Image
Why include the level at all if the simple random background would have been sufficient (if memory restrictions were an issue?)

Since the civil war has come to an end - hopefully for a long time - I would like to discuss the planet issue:

Restrider wrote...
I have one remark to make:
It is one common interpretation amongst ITers to assume that the slideshows are part of the hallucination - something like Shepard's mind justifying his decision and showing him a future with hope.
Furthermore it is considered that the Normandy crash-landing on that garden world is also part of this hallucination, to give him closure regarding his closest friends and LI (I'd like to mention otter's interpretation that the garden world and the sinister forest of Shepard's dreams are antagonizing scenery - a shame that his posts were utterly ignored during the troll-fest and internal bickering).

Posted Image

Now, it is obvious that the garden world - where all stargazer scenes take place - have a familiar sky setting. I think it is save to assume that these planets are indeed identical.

Posted Image

If we assume that the first time this planet is shown to us is during a hallucinatory state, then the second time we see this planet - namely the stargazer scene - should be also part of a hallucination. If we assume this, what meaning does the stargazer scene actually have for the real world? None...?

Again, this is my personal interpretation.

To add:
Since we can assume that the first encounter of this planet is a hallucination, the second might as well be one.
The breath scene would then just be Shepard breaking out of the hallucination for a moment and dipping back into a hallucinatory state (not necessarily still indoctrination induced, but rather a form of him to recover from it).
I would also like to note that this sky setting resembles the sky setting of Aeia, the planet of Jacob's LM. Though this just may be a coincidence here.
IF we assume that the stargazer scene is not real for all endings including refuse - can we still discount refuse as a total failure? I can see that it has not the same merits as Destroy due to the lack of the breath scene, but as all endings, it also has a message of hope.

Edit: My point is that Refuse is usally discarded with the fact that the stargazers are alien and talk about our cycle's failure that gave them the possibility to stop the Reapers. But if it's all unreal, we know nothing - not even if the Reapers were beaten at all...

To continue this topic, I'll shamelessly reiterate a point I made last night.

The Refuse stargazer scene takes place at least 50,000 years further into the future than the Buzz Aldrin versions. The people depicted in the scene are, it is safe to assume, a different species to the old man and the boy, who are most likely human. Human beings are extinct in this version of events.

However, one winter's night, Granny Stargazer decides to take her version of the kid out to the exact same spot.
Of the same meadow.
On the same planet.
At the same time of year, as her erased-from-history, male, human counterpart, to tell stories about "the Shepard".

The trees look the same, the moons are aligned in the same way, the kid sounds the same, all that's different is the Stargazer.

Now I know this might be making a point that history is largely inevitable, and no matter what Shepard chooses the Reaper threat will one day end, as others (ElSuperGeko I think) have suggested.

But for the details to mirror each other so exactly? Despite being 50,000 years further into an alternate reality? This strains my credulity.

I think this makes it more likely that the Stargazer scene is meant to be taken figuaratively. It is either Shepard's wish fulfilment, or an outright 4th wall breaking Easter egg.

The fact that this scene doesn't play without an import or new game plus (well done whoever caught that) would seem to strengthen that. It's so disconnected from the events of the game, that we can't take it as proof of anything.

I don't think the emptiness on the Citadel means anything... probably just memory management.

That said, good catch on the announcement! I had never heard that before... another sneakily hidden reference to indoctrination, really cool.

Good job Dem, keep spotting them!

However, your comments on the Citadel emptiness made me think. You know, when you're outside Purgatory, and you look down, you see these unfinished, untextured and motionless character models?

Everybody says that it's an obvious illustration of Bioware not having time to polish the game.

But thinking about it, it doesn't make sense. There's 'unfinished' character models there of which there are finished models in the game. There's even a finished Elcor outside of Purgatory at some point, as if they want to remind you of that fact.

I mean, it's not like they sculpt every model you see from scratch. It would have taken them just as much effort to place the finished models there. Making them animate shouldn't take time at all either, there are default animations for all the models.

Another thing that's weird is that it's only the characters standing in the light that are unfinished and motionless. The shadows around them, on all sides, are populated with an unusual amount of people, all completely animated and normal looking.

It's almost as if they're intentionally drawing our attention to them, as if Bioware wants us to notice them.

Then when you think about James' line, the one about it not being right and all an illusion...

I'm not saying the entire citadel or the entire game is an illusion, don't get me wrong, it's probably symbolic, if it is indeed intentional.

I don't have a screenshot, sorry.

Thoughts?

The only problem I see with the memorial wall theory is that both Ashley and Cortez have scenes there. They even talk about it with Shepard on the Normandy.
