No, the face value explanation for Cerberus at the Citadel is stupid. Even if Udina was somehow given complete control of the Citadel, which wouldn't happen, that wouldn't be enough for the other races to follow his order to abandon their own and save his world. They wouldn't take that order from a human, much less one that just seized power because of a convenient terrorist attack.

There's more to it. There has to be. And Omega is involved. Omega too is a Reaper creation, even referred to as the "Citadel of the Terminus". And no, TIM did not just want it to get access to the Omega-4 relay. The comics were very clear that Aria already had a deal in place with him for that. I don't think he usurped Omega just to save a few bucks on tolls.

byne wrote...

Do we have any proof from anyone prior to the beam run that TIM is actually indoctrinated?

I mean, TIM and godchild both say he is, but we dont even think they're real, so why take their word for it?

I've never read the comics with TIM, so if its mentioned there, I dont know about it.

Yes, he is definitely at least fighting indoctrination since the First Contact War. Whether he ever completely succumbed and when is up for debate.

Hmm, ok then, thanks for clearing that up.

For some reason TIM claiming Shep was indoctrinated and not him on Thessia was kinda sticking in my head.

I think people are misinterpreting that.

Shepard: The Reapers have it right? You're indoctrinated! You're doing just what they want.
TIM: I could say the same of you, wasting time on a war that can't be won.

I'm pretty sure TIM saying he could say the same of Shepard is about "You're doing just what they want."

That's it I can't stand it anymore. I've been lurking since the creation of Mark III just to see if any progress would be made, and instead what I'm witnessing is the decay of a once brilliant thread into nothing more than a joke.

The thread has become about as productive as a fifth wheel on a unicycle. All I see is brilliant minds of this once great thread reduced to only encouraging and entertaining the minds of the neanderthals and trolls who now lurk these pages.

I ask you, what have these idiots contributed? the intellectual equivalent of a mosquito's fart during a gale force wind is all I can summarise.

So all I can say is "thank you" to the great minds that are still left in this thread, and if you weren't outnumbered by the morons, haters and flamers than I would still be around to witness your deep, though provoking insights. But unfortunately it's all grown too much for me.

Honorable mention must go to Byne; for being steadfast, resilient and tenacious enough to get the ball rolling not only once but thrice, and as for the rest of you who I also respect: You know who you are and I love and care for you deeply because of everything you've contributed.

It's been a fun ride; and although I still believe in IDT I no longer can stand what this once great thread has become. I am not going to harp on about this being my last post, etc. as I'm sure I'll probably come back and contribute at some stage, but until then: I wish you all the best of luck.

P.S. Masster said that without certain individuals this thread wouldn't be the same, and he's correct ... it would be better.

The thread has been pretty sucky today.

Mind if I ask who exactly set you off?

The quote function is there for a reason, and its too hard for us to figure out what masster is talking about with no context clues.

In fact, I shall PM you when interesting Leviathan info gets released.
Also yes, there is substantially less usefulness going on in here than I'd like.
Thankfully my Uni chaos is over by the time Leviathan may get released, and when that happens our speculations shall blot out the sun.

But yeah agreed, we're at the point where there's rarely anything useful going on. Comes with the fact that the game's now been out five months and we've yet to really see much new content.

See ya old body. But I am staying no matter what they say. I will not let them ruin all of the fun, and so what if they do. They have nothing to say but complain about IT and call us names. We still are the same great thread, but no more speculations means no more anything, until we have something. That's the problem, and well we have teams doing this and that, so ya we are just waiting for the IT teams to be done with there work. So right now as far as I can tell everone is up tight about Leviathan, and the new area on the Citadel, so you can leave, but you can stay and just luk here, or tell us something.

@Salient - I do agree that this thread has degraded since the first time that I came in here. It went from a center of thought and intelligence and been poisoned by trolls/ignorance over time into what it is now. However some of that is also in part of that there is not much to speculate about now.

Let's take this as a wake up call guys. We need to restart, reboot, and get back to the quality of thread as it was before. Otherwise...the literalists are right in saying that the IT is on life support. We are slowly dying. (Let's hope Leviathan helps IT or it could kill the theory.)

Even if active speculation dies out eventually (which would take a very long time), that wouldn't mean IT is dead.  People still argue over whether HAL was supposed to be a metaphor for IBM.

To be honest Byne; It's a combination and compounding of many instances and individuals. Thankfully there's still amazing individuals like yourself here, but unfortunately many of our rank from Mark I have departed and left open air for particular individuals who find more pleasure in irritation and poorly aimed remarks than actual productive thought.
I might give myself a week to see if things have changed, but I've just witness one to many flame fights with trolls... That and to be honest, when the most interesting remarks are generated because of Masster's poor grasp of grammar and spelling than it's a clear sign that things need to be pushed back into the right direction. I for one just don't have the strength right now to be a part of that... not yet anyway.
Sorry to sound so dramatic about it; but I'm just a stalwart hoping for the golden age of the Mark I thread to return.

Hellish claims he and turbo have found lots of new stuff to speculate on but that they're saving it for their video.

Why so selfish, Hellish? Keeping all those juicy speculations to yourself, even when we've run out of speculations? :crying:

It would have made a lot more sense if TIM used the Udina coup to sneak men and materials onto the Citadel in preparation for the Crucible docking or the inevitable Reaper takeover of the station. Even the assassination of the Council could have served some higher purpose.

It also would have made a lot more sense if Udina's motives had been explained onscreen, even if it was a deathbed apology about being unable to resist the Reaper voices in his head.

Alas.

Why not just not post on your phone if it sucks so hard?

There were enough opportunities to get a better discussion rolling, just not posting doesn't improve the situation, more like it makes it worse as there are less useful posts and the percentage of useless posts increases.
