Spec Ops the line for Best Narrative? Over ME3?
These awards are broken. CoD is going to win GOTY.
Says you.
Without the IT, the game doesn't deserve GOTY. The ending nullifies it all, and if you think the VGAs count IT with in, then you're most likely wrong.
You mean without further expansion? Because IT doesn't need additional content to be true.
Sure, if you're cool with the Reapers winning. Then yeah, no additional content needed.
We don't know that, we don't know anything. IT doesn't need additional content, but the Mass Effect story does. The end of ME3 is no different from the end of ME1 or 2: It closed the game's plot but not the Reaper one.

"You can even interpret Konrad as being not necessarily a delusion inside his mind, but some kind of external projection of his guilt in this purgatory or hell or afterlife, or however you choose to view it."
That said, Williams notes one last, vital visual trick. "Any time the game is doing a normal transition, it'll fade to black. Any time Walker is hallucinating, or lying to himself, in a kind of delusional fashion, the game will fade to white," he says. "The entire epilogue sequence where Walker goes home, it fades to white. Even if you are not reading that Walker died in the chopper crash, it is meant to be understood that Walker is hallucinating going home."
Wow...
And people can't put that together in ME3? Wow. Do people not understand that a fade to white is always a transition to some kind of non-reality?
I think we need to add this to the front page. "Other games that do a similar plot twist, and confirmed to do so." And Spec Ops isn't even sci-fi, and doesn't have billion year old super AI's with mind control abiltiies.
Its getting harder and harder to intelligently dodge IT's weight of validation.
I will die laughing if Spec OPs has its own fanatical literalists who believe everything literally happened in that game.

Until you realize these are the same knobs that put Shepard in the memorial scenes. Clearly they are an informed authority on this game.

From what I can tell the game's narrative was blunter about certain aspects being hallucinations, and the only bit up for debate was whether or not the ending really happened, or if the main character had actually been dead for most of the game.

It's rather like "whaaaaat?" I love how they shunned arena shooters for years for the lack of innovation and then a mp with just a horde mode gets coop of the year? Wut? Nothing against the mp, it's good, but not the best of the year.demersel wrote...

It’s not just games that do this though, the same fade to white transition is used in films and TV shows. Just look at any film where the character is dreaming or going from one state of consciousness to another, it’s always a fade in/out of white.
