Except that making DLC costs craploads of money, especially if it'd be something big like the IT DLC. You can bet your ass neither EA nor BioWare would want to lose another penny after the EC.

If I were an optimist I'd say the MP transactions would help pay for it.

And are you one?

BioWare wants to make money, not not win anything or lose money after making a game.

I'm more of a realist in most cases. I understand what you mean, I just hope they are looking at the long-term here. Because not even ME fans are looking forward to frakking ME4. That should tell them something.

Really late reply, but I'll give you my theory:
Omega's sky-high price was the mean to collect money (along with MP transitions) for the last free DLC, the Reveal one.

I don't have any experience in marketing, it's only a feeling. :D

Considering how much an IT DLC would cost, I'd say you're wrong. At The very least, I suspect an IT DLC would be worth at least  10-15 Dollars, since it'd really show the final battle against the reapers. The cinematics would most likely cost a lot as well, which would certainly make it cost more than 5 dollars. Selling a DLC for 5 dollars more doesn't make sense if you'd wanna release a 15-dollar DLC for free. The Omega DLC would then at least have to cost 20, I think.

As far as I can tell Estebanus just doesn't like people declaring themselves right instead of trying to push their own view.

Kinda. I don't really like most of the new "evidence" put forward, just because it seems a lot like grasping at straws to me. All the good parts have long gone. And sometimes, I think a few ITers really seem like arrogant asses to me.

I guess you could say that I love the interpretation and what it is about, but it's changed too much for me since the pre-EC days. Too much unfounded speculations declared as absolutely right without investigating it further and too little real deep discussion going on. Too many people denounce other people coming in here disagreeing with them as trolls.

Deal with it. You pick any controversial topic and find the people that are passionate about it and you'll find a lot of them look down on the other side. The problem is you for expecting some special utopia. Deal. With. It.

There's no need for hostility, rifneno. I was just voicing my opinion.

Ahh my bad, " a few ITers really seem like arrogant asses to me." sure looked like hostility to me.

EC was only free because it was an emergency measure. You're not gonna get any proper DLC for free however important. Especially not from EA.

If it'd be meant as hostility, I'd have pointed out who exactly it is I'm thinking of.

Look, let's not get in a fight.

It's one thing to charge for extra B-plots, it's another thing to charge for parts of the main campaign that are suppposed to be an important part of it.

Yup, they wanna make money after all, not lose money or make no gain.

It's wrong to withhold the ending one way or another either way, even if it's free. Yes it's wrong, but in business, pragmatism counts more than morality.

A smart company looks ahead and compares the profit for a charged IT DLC vs. the profit of a free IT DLC (a la "we planned this all along") and the profit to be made on the next ME game.

A smart company would release a game-changing DLC when the hype and controversy was at its highest, not when it has all but died out.

Plus, then there'd be no need to make Omega overpriced.

Not to mention the money they'd made from a quadrilogy bundle that comes with "I am indoctrinated and I'm not alone" T-shirt.

Wasn't it during VGA 2010 that BioWare revealed working on ME3? It was in December and ME2 came out in January. Since ME3 was released in March, we should expect some news in the next 2 months.

If there was a major IT DLC, I do want an 'I called IT' shirt.

Meh, my mother calls me worse.  That's not the point.  The point is that this is how people behave about these things.  When people feel strongly about a topic, they tend to... not get along with people who feel strongly about the opposite side of the debate.  That's why religion and politics tend to be big no-no's on forums like these.  Issues that divide people make people act like that.  It's human nature.  Don't fight human nature.  You will never win.  Ever.

I would change my sig to IT confirmed, and post random post in literalist threats just so they can see it
