Doomsday, the main reason I don't think the Geth will ever turn against us is the same reason I think IT is true. Themes. The literal ending destroys the themes of the series, and so would the Geth turning against us. It would render pointless the entire Geth/Quarian story since we first encountered Geth on Eden Prime in ME1, and ruin all the character building and things we've learned from that.

I understand what you're saying, and the idea of peace between synthetics and organics is beautiful, but it is of a certain theme called 'Reapers messing with synthetics to cause the conflict in the first place.' that I am inclined to think the way I do. The theme of 'doing the right thing with the right intentions, but by the wrong means'. The quick and easy path. The crucible. The magic and easy solution to everything. The 'button to instant ascension'. That theme.

You're seeing one theme, I see other themes.

No, this is absolutely not about trusting Javik too much. I am very much aware of his racist attitude and fascist viewpoints. The reason I like his quotes so much is because of IT foreshadowing.

The Reapers have messed with the Geth on more than one occasion. When we met Legion this time around, he was hooked up to the Reapers. Who's to say that hasn't changed him subtly.

The point here IMHO is pattern recognition.

The Zha'til story might just be there for the very same reason the story of the Protheans being taken down from the inside is. One is supposed to alert you to Cerberus, the other might be there to alert you to the Geth.

It's especially devious because many players don't want to go along with Javik's racist attitude, and will trust Legion, like they always have.

For example, there's a whole bunch of people here on this forum (take Cosmic Gnosis' thread for example) who argue choosing destroy is anti-synthetic and wrong, because it is exactly what Javik would do. The exact same argument that you're making.

Also, I think this topic is well suited for the IT thread. It's very closely related to IT because of the synthesis parallel, we don't have a lot to discuss, and I'd rather discuss this with you guys than the IT-hating hordes outside.

I never believed the "Destroy is genocide argument" because that the Geth and EDI are synthetic is beside the point. It'd be the same if it was "All Turians will die" or Asari, Batarians, Elcor, Humans, etc.

It's just "Destroy the Reapers with some collateral damage". Anything more specific is missing the point.

Even if you get specific, the arguement falls apart because EDI says she would rather become nonfunctional than help the Reapers. The Geth will no longer compromise with the Reapers.

What I took from the Zha'til story was that the Reapers create the organic/synthetic conflict in every cycle as an excuse, like setting fire to someone's house just to save them.

Exactly, if I were a Geth I doubt I'd trust almost any organic, not due to dislike, but due to how the Geth are viewed and have been treated. And these aren't just any organics, they're the Quarians, and they're back to wipe the Geth out. Remember Thane's touching line "You're the first friend I've made in ten years."? Shepard is that to Legion and the Geth, but on a whole other level. He's the first non-hostile organic, and organic ally to all Geth in 300 years.

So yes, I'd trust Shepard and no one else.

I understand I'm not trying to state anything as a fact, just remember that Legion did in fact lie and was only concerned with Geth goals. I was also referring to the Geth Consensus and if they only trusted Shepard then what happens when he's gone?

Exactly. But that only helps my argument.

Just like the Prothean Controllers = Cerberus.

The problem is not with the Geth, it's with the Reapers messing with synthetics to cause problems. It's one of the arguments I used. It's another recurring theme.
