I noticed something funny while playing Tali's recruiting mission in ME2. There's 3 paths one can take to close in on the geth colossus and kill it.

The middle path is completely suicidal and only results in you being wide open for the colossus and flanked from both sides by troopers.

The left path is a tempting position as suggested by Reager himself, but leaves you wide open to geth troopers.

Taking the right path is somewhat discouraged but it ends up being the best path to take. It offers the best protection against the geth and the best vantage point to attack the colossus.

That's awesome. I love it!

The right side is the only side that worked on Insanity for me. Too much flanking everywhere else. :(

The reapers control you and all your development through technology they leave behind, for you to find and to use, and grow dependant on it, but which you don't really understand.

Let's get rid of them once and for all by using the technology, that was left behind for us, that we don't really understand. - That is the only sure way to do it!

I remember taking the left path the last time I played through Haestrom (btw, one of the most memorable missions of the series). This time I might take one of the other paths.

The comparison isnt perfect as any path will work. Or maybe it is. Afterall, if one believes literal theory theres three paths to victory and they all work. :D

Whats interesting is how theyre presented. The middle path is by far the most dangerous. The left path is tempting but also dangerous, and the right path offers the best vantage points and protection.

The geth dreadnaught is another example. There is a door in the middle of a platform (while escaping) with the green unlocked hologram on it, there is a blue platform that collapses, and you have to go right. :)

The Geth dreadnought mission STARTS with a modle for a choice o-matic, remember? I posted the pictures and explanation here some time ago.

Yo dawg, I heard... lol.

But it's so funny you just posted that; I was literally thinking the same thing earlier! The Crucible is described (or over-described) as being such an advanced piece of technology that will inform civilization for eras to come... but really? *Really?* And it was made by organics? Ya gotta be kiddin' me. Red herrings for everyone.

But this also relates to something I was just talking to Banshee about... how many times in ME3 are we presented with situations wherein the game tries to force our hands to support decisions that we have seen IN ACTION to be flawed decisions? Por ejemplo, the Genophage. The forced ascension of a species against their will. "For their own good." Treating another species as lesser because it is less evolved, etc, and destroying their humanity (errr, kroganity) in the process of "uplifting" them.

Which is all nice and well, but it kinda ruins the analogy, by being a quick and easy path :P

Found it. BSN really needs better search features (and by better I mean ANY)

I'm playing the Geth Dreadnought mission right now. Just started it - already great symbolism - The start of the mission - you are alone, the tube you used has broken off. You enter the ship and have to navigate it to find and secure a new entry point for your squad. So, what is the first thing you see? there is a crashed and broken platform in front of you, and two catwalks that you can use - basicly you can go to the right or to the left. They look absolutely the same, except the lightning - the way to the right is lit with warm Orange/Red, the way to the left is lit with cold dead blue. Just like destroy and control options in the ending.
Do I need to tell which way is a dead end, and which is the right and only way to go?

P.S. right in front of you there is a drop, which leads into the pit that is filled with reaper cables.  There is also a broken platform in front, that looks like it you could climb it and it will get you to the door you need to go into the fastest and you can clearly see the door above it) - but you can't.

Screenshots are incoming. ))

Obstacle - you are alone.
Posted Image

The right way - destroy - pices of broken metal contruction. (the same ones you had to climb through in the prologue, when with Anderson)
Posted Image

The left way - control - seemingly clear solution,
Posted Image

The central view - looks like there is the way to climb, and you can clearly see your goal (which is coincidentally the green light of an unlocked door)
Posted Image
But you really can't, instead there is a drop, and even what looks like a way down into a pile of reaper cables.
Posted Image
The left way is blocked (ironicly wy the central platform itself,) and you can also not some reaper cables.
Posted ImagePosted Image
The right way is the only way to proceed, though you need to do some climbing, and is a longer and harder way.
Note the unplagged reaper cable on the floor.

I don't get it why Omega is 1200 BWP and Leviathan only 800 BWP. IMO Leviathan is better in terms of storytelling and has longer gameplay. Not to say Omega is bad but I like Leviathan more.

I remember earlier today I was on another site, and for some reason I wondered how they did dates, so I looked at a post to see if the day or month came first. 12/12/12 did not help in the least. I still dont know. :D

Well, the US likes to be different for no reason and use outdated (no pun intended) systems. I believe yours is month/day/year, and in Canada and most other places it is day/month/year, which makes infinitely more sense.
Actually, here.

I always have carnifex. Since Mordin gave it to me in ME2 - it is my gun of choice.

A carnifex, widow and tempest - that is my set up both in ME2 and ME3 (ME3 not so much since you get the widow very late in the story, and it is not as effective as it was in ME2 due to shield-gate. My first playthrough I moslty used the Viper, which is surprisingly deadly in ME3 single player.)

If they don't have post breath scene content planned, then there is absolutely no excuse for this image. She's clearly smiling, at what looks like sunrise (or possibly sunset) on Earth, and there are no reapers in sight. There is nowhere in the timeline of the game as it stands, where this could possibly fit.

Without more content, this crosses the line from teasing the fanbase to trolling it.

Ah I just sat down and listened to some Final Fantasy music. A track which came up was "You're not Alone" from FFIX.

FFIX beeing my favorite Final Fantasy game I remember quite clearly where that track is from and I would love to see a similar scene for Mass Effect.

Without spoiling too much (even though the game is old) the track plays during a scene where the main character has been broken mentally, staggering along and rejecting the friends he had made up until that point. But his friends, who all to some degree have had their lives altered by the main character refuse to give up on him, staying by his side, hleping him through the monsters he encounter on his aimless path even as they speak to him, try to make him snap out of it and eventually succeed.

A similar scene of Shepard facing his squadmates after the Indoctrination attempt (possibly in events where it succeeded / semi succeeded) and each of them reminding him of who he is, making him snap out of it like Saren did.

Could be heartbreaking if played right, especially if you had a love interest.

I'd love something like this. What was that quote from one of the composers of the next DLC? Something about "high potential for tears" on one of the tracks? Hmm...

Agreed. I also have it as my computer background, because it's awesome! I'd have this Femshep's face as my custom avatar if I didn't have mine already. Maybe when I'm bored, or someone else can use it.

Anyway, I really hope we get to see something like this ingame!
