Don't get me wrong, I love dragons, I'm just having a difficult time deciding if they are right for my story. It is technically set on post-apocalyptic Earth but it is a Fantasy story, so it is kind of a post-post-apocalyptic Earth. I did want to put dragons in there somehow, but I wasn't sure how to do it with the setting being as it is. Still in the structuring stage of the book so maybe something will happen.Raistlin Majare 1992 wrote...

Soo...recently I was playing the new Dragonborn DLC for Skyrim, enjoying eing able to fly on the back of a dragon. when I remembered how some of the elements in the story were similar to the way indoctrination works in certain situations, such as touching an ancient artifact and suddenly becoming a mindless drone but resusting it through your will. Not that I think this has anything to do with IT but it just seems funny that I'm seeing ideas similar to ME's indoctrination popping up everytwhere in other games, on TV and films too. Not that they weren't around before but I must be focusing on them now, thx alot IT thread.
Ah and btw, being able to fly over the skies of Skyrim on Odahviing...may just be the best thing ever...just sayin. Even makes me reconsider putting dragons in my novel, even though I said "NO! No dragons! we are NOT doing that cliche!"
apparently being able to ride a dragon makes you reconsider.
I am a huge sucker for dragons personally (just take a look at my avatar) and my own stories center heavily around dragons most of the time. Hell my longest running story (fan fiction in this case) has no humans in it at all, instead following two dragons through their life together. It is currently longer than the the first Lord of the Rings book...
But really people say dragons are cliche, I say people are simply not creative enough with them.
Also your story with the two dragons sounds really interesting.

Also since when did indoctrination stop you getting killed? for all we know the reapers could have millions of servants. They have shown they dont value life so what would it be to them? just the loss of another thrall.

Branching off that tangent a bit: do you guys actually think BioWare would ever have the stones to force their brand of audience to stomach the idea of romancing (among other things) an indoctrinated squad member?
IMO this is exactly the way to get ALL the feels. And what would be an even better feeling if we could help them overcome it and save not only them but also what they were about to do.
An emotional connection is what makes us care. Also, if Shepard was able to overcome it then he might convince others too that it's possible.
Dunno about you but the amount of money I'll be throwing at the screen will be directly proportional to the amount of emotions an IT DLC would induce.

Im saying from a writing standpoint it would not be wise to have a charecter be indoctrinated that could die. If that character dies, then there can be no twist. In the lore, anybody could potentially be indoctrinated.dorktainian wrote...

My fantasy story has Dragons (mostly wiped out), and a sub-race of Dragon/Humanoid hybrids that vary between a feral flying reptile to almost near-human in appearence. The leaders are those who spare equally in each bloodline, but are sterile, the near-dragons are warriors (though often lack much intelligence and can rarely speak) and the near-humans are servents who ride on the near-dragons when they go to war.
Gotta mix it up a bit.

What happens say if your Shepard dies at the end of ME2 and then you import that saved game into ME3? You don't start as a new protagonist completely different from Shepard right?
That alone makes Bioware look like liars and idiots.
They also said that in ME2 if Shepard dies it will be permanent. LOL thats so much fail on the highest possible levels.
Going by this, Bioware cant be trusted one bit even in their official statements. More credence to IT being true and that ME4 will definitely involve Shepard.
I mean I haven't heard such blatant lying the likes of Bioware ever before in the gaming industry.
so what's you take on this?

That doesnt even make sense. If you're going to create a fake VS, you'd make them completely loyal to Shepard so you could get someone close to them for whatever reason. You wouldnt create someone to be relentlessly annoying for the first third of the game, to the point when killing them off for being so annoying is a very real possibility.
