It's weird that the reapers went to London specifically. They must have been planning it for a while. After all, that's the first place they hit on Earth.

Does anyone remember when Anderson first tells you they're heading to London because the Reapers are planning something there?

We all forget  that Anderson was born in London. And for a long time, he is the leader of the resistance on Earth -I.E. a major thorn in reaper's backsides. It could be all about HIM - because the place is important for HIM and it breaks HIM the most. This might be how he got broken, for setting up Shepard up to the beam.

Yeah, but it's important even before that. They land there first. I bet the whole thing was planned. It probably has to do with Anderson. Maybe he's alive because the reapers needed him to be? And I don't mean he's indoctrinated.

London is a strange choice if the goal is not Anderson -- it's far from the most populated city. It also could have been luck of the draw for publicity purposes.

This is probably a stretch, but in English literature -- particularly the works of Wordsworth and Blake and other Romantics -- London is regarded as the haven of insanity, where crazies lurk and heathens copulate. Could be a stretch but I do know for a fact that  at least one of the writers is familiar with Wordsworth.

That is exactly what i mean - that it isn't all about Shepard from the very get go - it is just each one get's a feeling that he is imortant and pivotal and it is all about him and the reapers take special interest in him personally.

Indeed! A WW poem probably only chosen for the word reaper -- because the poem itself doesn't feel thematically relevant to me... unless you argue that the narrator is lured in by her song.

Since I forced the topic of poetry into here, does anyone know what other poems (if any) Ashley references in ME3? I always save Kaidan, so I don't know. So far, I only know of Tennyson's "Ulysses." (Great ME poem, read it read it read it!)

I believe Anderson says that just after (or shortly after) the Cerberus coup attempt.

That's what I thought too, if it wasn't right after, it was close. That means that the Reapers were planning to bring the Citadel to Earth then, because they started on the beam. So if the Citadel really is the Catalyst, then the Reapers knew well before the attack on Cronos. Posted Image

Well London is on an Island and probably highly populated compared to other islands, maybe they were trying to make it hard for a counterstrike against them and figured their Brethren in Space could handle any surprises that might come.

Then again, why in mp is there no Reapers on Palaven?  When we play the sp game, there are tons of Reapers walking around yet on mp there are none in the background.  You'd think they'd leave the background reapers stomping around?  Maybe it would cause the servers to crash?

More than likely sovereign received the first communications via TV and radio and found out the Allies won the war and figured that would be the best place to start given the rest of the world was destroyed Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

I'm doing another playthrough, and reading some of the planet decriptions makes it clear that the Reapers are not as awesome as everyone thinks they are. Most call the US war in Iraq not a war, but an invasion or occupation. The Reaper war is closer to a war than that is, as in, it's more balanced.

Yeah and it doesn't really add up.
That was never expanded, what were they planning back then.

I think it strengthens IT.

Food. Colonialism was their main reason for invading, delicious human blood was just a fringe benefit.

It definitely supports the idea that the beam and/or Crucible is a trap of some sort.

Making a worthless target look juicy to your enemy is a very common method of laying traps.
