best post i've seen in a while. what in the end defines reality? Is everything we see a dream? Is everything we dream real? in the case of shepard is it even possible to tell them apart? We see shepard wake up after the final kid chase dream.....but do we?Rankincountry wrote...

But how can you distinguish reality from a dream if the dream is like reality?RavenEyry wrote...

So you meant that the object of choice is a lie.
That reminds me of an HP Lovecraft story about a guy who could visit other worlds in his dreams and ended up unable to distinguish which world was which, since both seemed equally real to him. Maybe that's a way of looking at indoctrination? When you can no longer distinguish between Reaper thoughts and ideals and your own?
Very nice of you to say so. Your own comparison to the Red and Blue pills in the Matrix is just as good. There's so much precedent for something like IT in so much other fantasy and SF literature, going back decades. And we know for a fact that Mac Walters had the Matrix on his mind when writing ME3.
The Lovecraft story is "Through the Gates of the Silver Key". Comes with the usual health warning that Lovecraft was a horrible racist and it sometimes shows in his work.
Yeah, I mentioned all 4 for the sake of completeness. And it's true that modern physics is mysterious and amazing.Norlond wrote...

There are 4 forces. Gravity, Electromagnetism, Weak Nuclear Force, Strong Nuclear Force. Electromagnetism is sometimes taken together with the Weak force, forming Electroweak force.
I know, I only left them out because they add little to nothing to the "walking through wall"-topic
And btw, maybe there are Interactions we don't know about yet, hidden in higher dimensions or only affecting imaginary time or a second time dimension, there are even hints that the fine-structure constant is no constant, everything is possible, that's why I love modern physics
*looks at text* Ok I'm being nerdish again, sry for that

In the case of this thread, they manage this with the help of people who should know better (and probably do, but can't resist biting anyway), than to respond to them.
I am pretty much constantly 10-50 posts behind and even though I shouldn't, I take the time to skim each page for gems, which does take tons of time (slow reader), even if I summarily skip posts which has certain names in them).
(Incidently; If I was seriously going to filter out good stuff from the whole compound thread, I might just grep "restrider", remove duplicates and live with the loss of any other tasty bits...)

For people too not see all the clues and hints in mass effect that show the ending is indoctrination are ****in morons that probably think tony soprano didnt get killed at the end and who believe in jesus thats why i ask that idiot troll heretic_hanar if he believes in jesus
This is also a theme that has been discussed in the game itself. Not in the focus of the story, but it is there. Here are a few examples:dorktainian wrote...

It is possible to pass through a wall without needing to create a hole. It's just highly unlikely.paxxton wrote...
Theoretically, if you could neglect the forces produced by the interactions of your particles with the wall's particles and at the same time preserve your system's coherence.401 Kill wrote...

Ok this is ackward to ask but can someone explain the connection better of the "blue and red pill" and its connection?
I like this theory not because i believe in it but because its the only Theory i read out there that makes the ending make sense. If I read the ending straight as its given to us than its utter crap a choice to the ending of Shepard's story and the Reaper threat makes no sense in my opinion. But than I came to this thread and read the first post and the Original Post by Byne and it all made sense. The choice is testing us to stay true to ourselves and not to given in to the Reapers. The simple way for me to look at it is I went there to destroy them.

Yeah, that's pretty awesome. Does that mean they used fanfiction in their games? The krogan "quad" was apparently also fanfiction. So they do listen to their fanbase? Interesting considering the never ending complaining about the ending.Restrider wrote...

The Red and Blue pills are Neo's first big choice in The Matrix - take the Red pill and the illusion the machines created falls away and Neo pushes on to his destiny as "The One". Take the Blue pill and Neo accepts the illusion as his reality and lives out his life in service to the machines. I think if you need a short analogy for Shepard's final choice, it's a good one. Not to mention the red and blue choices...

We also need experts in heraldry and vexillology.
Has anyone a suggestions for the heraldic animal? We would need an animal that is considered as thinking outside-the-box...
I propose an owl or fox maybe?

Funny thing is - you can'r argur this. Because with or without IT, most of the fans didn'r "get" the ending.demersel wrote...

Sadly, i think that is true. But on the other hand i think they were ready for some kind of outcry - given their agressive marketing to new players. They just didn't expect that THAT many people (and that many of their core fans) would not get it.
Fortunately, there are many, many others like you. It would be a major win for all parties if they did an IT reveal.zigamortis wrote...
Since the ending bioware went from my favorite game developer to the blacklist...... Fixing the ending will take them off the list.
Um, I think not. Garrus talked about krogan having quads in ME1, when talking about Saleon.BansheeOwnage wrote...
