The problem i have with your idea of them holding out for a rediculous amount of time is that the hallucenations would be happening in his mind, almost in a dreamlike manner and dreams can happen and a much more rapid pace than they would actually require to happen in real life.

Yep.  Dreams seem to last for hours, but often take part in just a few minutes of sleep.

Agreed, which is why the message seems inconsistent with IT, and therefore inconsequential to our discussion.  It says "Hope they let me see you today"; that seems to imply hospitalization of more than one day, which, if you're correct, is contrary to the period of time IT posits that Shepard remains unconscious.

Actually, its not necessarily inconsistant.  Shepard is clearly beaten to hell and in need of medical attention, regardless of indoctrination.

IT explains why Shepard isn't a cloud of ash orbiting Earth right now.

Perhaps you could elaborate?  Do you mean that that message could be coming after any subsequent events (i.e. IT DLC content, for example) has occurred?  That's possible, but a massively significant spoiler if true, no?
I agree that IT or not, he'll need medical attention, but again, my point is that the message is "hope they let me see you today".

This implies the VS has tried at least once, on an occasion BEFORE today to see Shepard.  So Shepard has been in hospital for > 1 day, correct?

Now, either the literalist ending is correct or IT is.

If the literalist ending is correct, we MUST be talking about a high EMS destroy ending.  Shepard is not around in either circumstance.  I agree re: cloud of ash for what it's worth, but I think it's separate question.

If IT is correct, then Shepard must be hospitalized AFTER the indoctrination attempt.  This means one of three things:

(1) Shepard has been hospitalized for a couple days while the Battle of Earth continues to rage, and somehow the Reapers haven't wiped out the combined fleets in that time.  I find this dubious, but I suppose it's possible.

(2) Shepard has been hospitalized for a couple days and the Battle of Earth is over, almost certainly ending in defeat for the "Coalition of the Unwilling (to be converted into a Reaper)", and likely the destruction of the Crucible. Shepard's either hospitalized on a medical frigate or hidden deep somewhere on Earth.

(3) The message is sent some days after the indoctrination attempt AND the Battle of Earth has been successfully concluded somehow.  But as I mentioned above, this seems unlikely to me.

Agreed, but she will get an alternate appearance. That's why they labelled the one that's out Alt. Pack 1.
.

While they should have labeled it Alt Pack 2. Since the alt pack 1 was included in from ashes DLC.

I want my new N7 hoodie now!

I feel bad for people without the N7 Hoodie. I cant stand any of the other casual outfits.

Nah, the other outfits are mostly ok but the hoodie is just better. Posted Image

I agree with this.  The only times I change out of my hoodie are when it's required (I.E. When the diplomats are on the Normandy), and, if I think about it, when Hackett comes on board the Normandy at the end.

Lol. I remember greeting Hackett in a leather jacket during my first playthrough. "Yo dawg! Heard you wanna play battleships."

The leather jacket is nice... but only broshep get's it. :crying:

And I don't have the hoodie thanks to EA's feud with the store I use.

I never understood why so many people like the leather jacket. I mean, sure, if you dont have the hoodie, its better than the other casual clothes, but that isnt really saying much.

The leather Jacket has clipping issues in all the cutscenes and dialogs. Very annoying.

Yeah, pretty much.  I mean, think about it, if s/he's on Earth, that means s/he survived the explosion of the Crucible, the Destroy blast, and atmospheric reentry.  I could kind of see the first two, I guess, but the last one?  And if s/he's on the Citadel, then that still means that s/he's survived the first two, and wasn't killed by floating debris.  Either way, the odds of Shepard surviving are low.  Very, VERY low.

While we are on the subject of outfits - have you noticed how shepard's hands look?

they are blackened and greyish - they are not hands of a healthy man. - pay attention - on all the outfits besides the admiral uniform. On admiral uniform male Shapard has Hackett's wrinkled old hands.

True enough, although i'm mearly saying that the period in which shepard is hallucenating and when he wakes up is rather short as opposed to hours or days. Now have you though about how the message could pretain to after IT is confirmed and you really do kill the reapers?

Completely agree. :)  See above re: implications if IT is confirmed.  I think, candidly, that the message is just a throwaway thing, potentially included by Bioware only to elaborate on the illusion.  But I do agree with the OP that this deserved more attention than it got.  I'm just not convinced that it's significant for purposes of our discussions.

Hey, idea of how the datapad thing works in literal control: special petitions have to be made for an audience with your benevolent overlord.

I have noticed this. Do femSheps hands seem unusual as well?

Maybe. Will check it next time I play ME3 SP. Still it's not a huge issue.

I actually like the uniforms, but the dress makes Shep's hips look huge. The one from stolen memory was nice but the 3 version looks as awful and out of place as Aller's dress.

Maybe the structure in Rio - the map we play on is a hospital Shep is taken to?

Seems silly transporting him halfway across the globe though - unless they've been forced back

It's a matter of milliseconds in ME Universe.

That dress is super weird. It has a zipper on the butt. I am not going to speculate as to why.

We don't need to speculate because let's face it, we know why.

Quite possibly; perhaps Harbinger attempting to indoctrinate Shep has a similar effect to Sovereign taking control of Saren (inexplicable lowering of his shields when the attempt fails/the subject is destroyed).  That's... a great deal of handwavium being employed, but it fits in canon at least.

Destroy is the only ending which Shepard survives.  Its also the ending most IT'ers consider to be the 'correct' choice when it comes to whether or not Shepard resists the Indoctrination attempt.  Considering Shepard's state, days or weeks on hospital would be required - he/she is in a far worse state then the VS was, and they were seemingly out for weeks.

However, it can be suggested that in Control and Synthesis, assuming IT, Shepard would also still need medical attention.  And what better way to worm back into the camp of your enemy that as a wounded war hero?

Regardless, Shepard being in hospital would mean people want to visit.

The only other explainations for the message are:

1/ An easter egg.
2/ It was sent by the VS before the attack on Earth but was blocked due to Shepard being under arrest - i.e. 'they' didn't allow the visit - and was only recently released.

And I don't consider it a spoiler.  Considering we have the Breath Scene, the biggest 'spoiler' possible.
