Fourthed.

The other version was (paraph.) "Commander Shepard's story is over". And this still leaves quite a few possibilities open for 'post-ending' material. And yes, I also do not exclude that I'm deluded or hopeful. But hey, ain't a lot of things worth hoping for these days, so might as well be about a story I care about.

Sixthed.

I've said this before, Shepard's story, meaning his personal story, is over; it ended at the breath scene. Shepard's story throughout the series is the story of Shepard's fight with indoctrination, and Harbinger's interest in him, possibly to make him the consciousness of this cycle's Reaper.

Genophage? Not Shepard's story. Geth/Quarian conflict? Not Shepard's story. War with the Reapers? Not Shepard's story. All the sidequests you do and people you help? Not Shepard's story. Shepard is involved in all of these things, but they're not his story. Therefore, Shepard can still be in ME4 as the playable character, but it won't be about Shepard, it will be about everyone else, and the galaxy as a whole.

Remember, the official statements are that "the endings will not be changed" and "Shepard's story is over", and people like Chris and Jessica say and phrase stuff based on how they interpret those statements.

Seventhed.

Just because Shepard's story is over doesn't mean Shepard won't feature in someone else's story.

And even if Shepard isn't in the story at all, it doesn't mean Shepard's actions wouldn't have had an impact upon it.

Not to mention you can keep an ending, but introduce a new or expanded beginning or end that completely changes how you view the ending. Just like the old joke about discovering the first page of the Bible - it would change everything.

They also only said that (as far as I know) before they changed from ME4 being a prequel to being a sequal due to fan's requests, so this may make mean Shephard continues (though I doubt it).

I don't recall that.  When/where did they say that?

I thought they hadn't said anything about their milking machine apart from that it exists.

Now you've got me doubting myself :P.  I'm pretty sure ME4 was going to originally be a prequel but everyone wanted a sequel so now their looking hard at that.  I'm pretty sure all that stuff about this being the end of Sheps story was quite a while ago.  That's all I was saying.

Anyone who haven't voted yet, here's an interesting long-running poll for you to do so.
Should Mass Effect 4 continue Shepard's story?

He's said the same thing before.

Also, he's not a developer or anything. I dont know why you'd let a community guy in on your secret DLC plans.

They're lying or otherwise evading the truth. Nothing new.

So, I want to re-ignite a topic from yesterday:
Is it really confirmed that the EC will only be supported for a certain amount of time (~1 year)?
If that is the case, then I can only say that this is the biggest chunk of meta-reasons why something like IT has been indeed intended from the very beginning (= release of ME3).

IIRC the EC is going to be available until some time in 2014.

I think they said it will only be available for free download until some time in 2014. Whether that means it wont be available for download after, or if it will cost money after, I dont know.

Chris Priestly has apparently made another snarky tweet about being "done with the endings"

http://twitter.com/B...863342279659521

I'd be inclined to take that more seriously if he hadn't been on holiday and away from the office for the past month. Or if he hadn't denied little things like Prothean Squadmates, Muliplayer, Kasumi etc etc...

I don't believe anything he says anymore.  He blatantly lies, often and repeatedly.

(I mean no offense to these people, and absolutely respect what they do.)

 Jessica Merizan - spreads misinformation
Chris Priestly - makes false claims about content (ex. No Multiplayer)

And people take every word they say as truth? What, official people can't lie? <_<:pinched:
