No. They've said this so many times. Don't let them take your will to fight!
You have hope. More than you think.

Remember that time one of the CMs told us something and we found out it was true? Me neither.

Thoughts?
I'm pretty sure that buzzing is present for all Renegade interupts. I saw a great write up about it, comparing it to the real human tendancy to hear such a ringing/buzzing when getting very angry about something.
Really?
But look at the context of this particular instance... it happens precisely when Kaidan mentions the events on Earth always being 'in the back of his mind, haunting him'. For Shepard, that is the kid, back on Earth. It seems really significant to me.
I'm going to keep an eye out for these renegade interrupts.
Whether it was coming from Kaidan or Shep herself, it absolutely struck me as an attempt to fight off indoctrination.
You know, all these thoughts and emotions that are demoralizing, and just make you want to give up. A literalist friend of mine was complaining about how his renegade Shep seems inexplicably affected by loss all of a sudden, in ME3.

Honestly, can anyone think of a DLC or new feature they *haven't* denied at one point or another? Anyone?
I wouldn't be surprised if they denied ME3 after ME2.

This sounds like the argument against conventional victory.
Only vice versa for you.

Yes, but that is not exactly the point. Look at the context.
What is the context of the other renegade interrupts in ME3?
Are there more moments where Shepard 'interrupts' demoralizing thought processes?

Took them months to confirm it even though everyone knew about it since it started production basically.ThisOneIsPunny wrote...

I agree with you DD, I was pointing out the noise specifically isn't an indoctrination sound. The context of the interrupt is still suspicious though.

How does Refuse fit into IT? (Genuine Curiousity)
It's more debated than most things, but it's generally viewed as Shepard being paralyzed with fear and failing to make a decision, and/or his mind being broken. He doesn't align is his with the Reapers' goals, but he doesn't have the will to fight either.
Put simply, you entered that room wanting to destroy the Reapers (that's not up to the player, ever Shepard does) and now you don't do it because of what the leader of the Reapers said.
Shepard has always been a person of action; he gets things done. In destroy, you resist the Reapers and remain true to that, but if you refuse, you've lost that "get things done" mentality, and are broken. That's why the kid is more angry in Refuse, because he's broken his favourite toy.

I've always considered it failing to act and retreating into your mind, but you'll probably get different answers from others. It's a divisive topic.Lord Aesir wrote...

Hmm. I just find it odd since the dialogue for Refise is more about resisting Reaper ideas and choices than any other while Destroy is viewed as the "correct" IT choice.BleedingUranium wrote...

Yes, I believe Leviathan and the first MP pack were leaked and denied. MP in general was denied early in development too, but that might have been an honest change.Dwailing wrote...

Shepard can give pretty speeches all she wants, but in the end, she's still refusing to act, and allowing the Reapers to win.

I'm honestly unsure. I don't really remember them discussing that one either before its release, but I don't think I was on here much at that time.Dwailing wrote...
