I don't think that's true. Of the people who actually care enough to have an opinion, I still think the majority think it's a retarded ending.

I don't know. There's been many, many numerous endings to different series that upset people. This hasn't been the first time something like this has happened.

Mass Effect 3 is no different than say someone's favorite TV series which its finale was less than subpar.

I don't understand why it is so much more deserving of what the fans are suggesting than the next TV series or movie that failed to live up to someone's expectations.

we´re not more or less deserving than them, but if Bioware feel generous this x-mas, maybe next year in my birthday i wouldn´t mind a different ending as a present

They've been down this road before. The ending is final. They might expand on it, but that's it.

An interesting thing someone said is that if Bioware did actually make a true finale that was made truly for the fans so to speak, some may not feel the same, because the fans didn't write it. It was more the fans words, but Bioware doing the actual creating of the ending itself. Sort of like the EC. They took the fan input (positive feedback, no negative stuff), and made it. However, it didn't turn out how some here thought, because Bioware was the ones who made it.

I can sort of see how a fan enspired ending would turn out on both sides of the coin. You'd have everyone here jumping for joy, but you'd have the people who were upset because of giving into fan pressure would probably be even more upset. It's a no win situation. Best thing you can say is that there's always going to be some that are unsatisfied. They said this before the game was released and again with the EC. Guaranteed, they'll say it again when this final DLC comes out.

The BioWare Blog advises that the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer is going on its annual hols from December 21, meaning there’ll be nobody to host N7 Bounty events on the weekends of December 28 and January 4. But before staff turn off the lights and put the chairs on the tables, it’s switched on all hazard maps, added two new card packs, and unlocked three new characters – the Drell Assassin, Batarian Slasher, and Volus Protector. Nice.

Not sure if anyone noticed

I noticed, you just tried the Drell and Volus. The drell infiltrator did not disappoint in the slightest. Imagine running at full drell speed while cloaked and shooting recon mines. Posted Image And the volus Vanguard is hilariously effective. And funny.Posted Image Haven't tried the Batarian Slasher yet, but it's the first adept with grenades, and a lot of them.

Thats what was strongly suggested by Legion's mathematical explanaition. Legion tells you that all Sovereign's virus does is introduce a subtle run time error within the most basic processes of the geths' minds. Its simple, yet powerful.

Isnt it interesting that this is very much how slow patient indoctrination works with organics? Its simple and subtle, yet the end result can bring down entire nations.

The lesson that should be taken from this mission and what results in 3, is that reaper influence cannot be cured and cannot be undone.

For what it's worth, that whole speech by Legion about the math thing was pretty much a joke by Bioware. It was a bug in the first (few?) shipments of the very first Pentium processors.

Legion: An equation with a result of 1.33382 returns as 1.33381. This changes the results of all higher processes. We will reach different conclusions.

Here's how you check for the floating point bug in those old Pentiums: Divide 4165835 by 3145727. An unbugged CPU will return 1.33382(20449136241002) and a bugged CPU will return 1.3337(39068902037589). Sound familiar? Now you may ask "who the **** was dividing 4165835 by 314527?" Pretty much nobody. The fact that the error only had a chance to occur for about 7 people alive did not stop the public from a full on panic about this new fangled "pentium" nonsense and Intel having to replace a ton of expensive processors, lest they show a slight error if someone's cat were to walk on the keyboard with calc.exe up. And people wonder why big corporations hate us.

... Anyways, my point to all this is, we don't know how much that speech by Legion should be taken to heart. It was basically a well hidden joke (that was funny as hell if you got it, BTW). While I don't doubt that it's canon, I do doubt that there was any meaning to it beyond the lulz.

He knows HOW to do the rewrite, but he even say that he has no idea WHAT exactly will happen. All he knows is that it will cause the Heretics to return to the main faction of geth. He doesn't, however, have any idea exactly what will happen after that.

See, this is one thing about the geth that pissed me off.

Shepard: Legion, what happened after our mission?
Legion: We convinced the geth of the old machines' return. We prepared for war.
Shepard: Legion, what happened that made the geth join the Reapers?
Legion: We were building a dyson sphere. The Creator fleet bombed it. Many geth died.
Shepard: So you prepared for war by loading yourself into a giant vulnerability without a way to save yourselves if even the most notoriously rickety fleet in the galaxy attacked? What the ****, Legion?
Legion: ... No data available?

That's the other thing that I was going to mention, although some might feel that the ending is a bit off, it makes up for the epicness due to this foreshadowing. No way they could have just put that in there without going back to the Derelict Reaper level and using the words the guy says. It's an exact description of TIM during the ending scene. Way beyond coincidence.

@rif - there's a reason they used the subtle math error. If you think about how indoctrination works it is via subtle changes. So by changing something subtle yet dire and concering (to a geth who cant seem to get a mathematical answer correct no matter how many geth are used to analyze the problem) in the Geth consensus, Sovereign and the Reapers then have the ability to use the Geth religion about the Old Machines and exploit the Geth like they have

Plus by the way BioWare changed the problem slightly from the pentium error calculation. They used a slightly different number to create the 1.33381 number Legion explains. That's what's so concerning, the Geth calculations are supposed to be perfect and return 1.33382 but is a single value off

Speaking of the Geth, why is there a plaque for Legion on the memorial wall if Geth dying is explained like this:

However, since geth do not "die" in any traditional sense (upon the destruction of a geth platform, its programs are simply transmitted to the nearest available platform) and so have no real losses to mourn from the Morning War,

Legion is no longer a transmitable program. Also geth can die if they are too far to transmit, like legion in ME2.

Huh, this is interesting:

The long-term goal of the geth is the construction of a "mega-structure", a massive mainframe capable of simultaneously housing every existent geth program, thereby maximizing their collective processing capacity. As of 2185, the geth have already been in the process of constructing the mega-structure for 264 years. Legion suggests the closest conceptual analogue is a Dyson sphere and, as it poignantly states "no geth will be alone when it is done." It believes that Sovereign promised the heretics a Reaper body to serve as such a mega-structure.

Even though it is Legion's belief it is interesting that the Reapers promised Someone else a genetic destiny with the Reapers to be one with them. Guess someone was right all along. It was just one big lie like the star kid told us lol

yes but in my game he "died" pretty close to Rannoch. In fact he was on the surface, easily able to transmit everything to all of the other Geth which shouldn't cause him to "die" just absorbed into the rest of the consensus

In 3 he has become a single individual. I thought that was blatantly clear as a core part in the Rannoch arc.

though, thinking about what I just said..if we answer the question of "Does this unit have a soul?" And we say yes, then the escence or soul of Legion is dead and can't be recreated and only the Geth can share his memories but not be Legion too

If we answer the question of "Does this unit have a soul?" as no, then the Geth should have received Legion's transmitted programs and another Geth should in theory be able to call itself legion and become legion because there is no real escence that would differentiate the two Geth, Legion and his replacement

it is clear but the game didn't exactly define it that way. It happens only if you let the upgrades go through before that he was a collection of programs that can operate independently of the main concensus :

Legion[/b] is the name taken by the gestalt consciousness formed by 1,183 geth programs inhabiting a unique geth "mobile platform".

If the quarians back down and Legion uploads the upgrades, Legion will refer to itself as "I", not "we", and must go to [the geth], signifying that it became a true individual rather than a gestalt intellect.
