You know, for a minute, I considered joining this volus discussion, but now, I'm really, really not going to. You all should know by now that I don't mind the volus in MP, since they are described as mercenaries in custom powered armor. I'm not going to say anymore, since it's clear that no matter what I say, I'm not going to change opinions.

Volus being able to fight does not mean volus are cut out for the special insertion missions. They're not doing well at recruiting everyone and anyone if the best of the best among the recruits fall over with a light push.

Mmm-hmm.  Because all Volus in the galaxy are high as a kite on Red Sand (the Biotic God being the only Volus we've ever seen "fall over with a light push".).

Hey, I saw a drunk in the street trip over his own shoelaces once.  I guess that means all humans are unfit for military service too, right?

I like the part where you said you weren't going to do something, and then in the next sentence you did it.

And I like the part where you assumed that just because I was stating my opinion I was planning on joining the conversation.

In defense of the volus:

I don't think you guys understand just how rare they are. I mean, just think about how rare the other, well, Rare characters are. Considering the Krogan tried to limit their exposure to eezo after the genophage (due to its dangers) and how almost all females are now on Tuchanka, it's highly likely that most of the Krogan Battlemasters and Shamen were born before the genophage. And then some of the other Rare characters, the N7s, the Justicars, those special forces turians, and others... And I think they deserve their classification of "rare," don't you agree?

And then consider, half of the volus characters are (the only characters to be) ULTRA-rare. They're rarer than krogan biotics, rarer than N7s, and rarer than justicars. Plus with the skill they'd have to have as volus, they're basically the "Shepards" of their race.

But what about the mercenaries and protectors? Well, I do think making the protectors just plain rare was pandering to the fanbase, but as for the mercenaries, all races have those. The only reason we haven't seen them before is because Bioware hadn't gone to the trouble of making them before.

Because people stating their opinions to one another is origami, not conversation.

JFC.  How many times must this be said?  IT'S NOT ABOUT WANTING TO FIGHT.  IT'S ABOUT THE ABILITY TO DO SO.  It's a simple concept.  So very simple.  How is it so hard for you to understand?  I feel like I'm trying to explain quantum physics to a cheese wheel.  "But they want to fight, and wanting to fight means you can move at whatever speed is necessary to fight!"  ...  Where's Sevial?  I think I need some more intelligent conversation now.

JFC.  How many times must this be said?  I addressed ALL those points in my earlier post.  How difficult is it to read a paragraph or two ot plain text and take said ideas into your head?  Is simple comprehension beyond you?

VOLUS CAN AND DO MAKE UP FOR THEIR SHORTCOMINGS VIA USE OF SPECIALISED EQUIPMENT.  It's a very simple concept.  So very simple even a child could comprehend it.  But then of course, to comprehend it, you would actually need to pay attention to and read the posts.  Maybe I should have a wander over to the Synthesis thread, and endure a better class of selective blindness.

Right.  This technology that didn't even exist before is now common enough for butterballs that are do decidedly not rich that they risk their lives fighting for money (i.e. mercenaries) can afford it.  Seems legit.  Very legit.  I wonder why none of the other races thought to use this awesome "move 3 times faster" tech.  Quarians would probably be interested in that impenetrable suit thing too.  Legit as hell.

Here's a thought. All Volus are indoctrinated. Hence why they THINK they can fight on the front lines.

Discuss!

(Yes, this is me trying to steer back to topic)

Garrus: Why does the Alliance hire pilots with brittle bone disease?
Joker: You're ****ting me. The turian military has one about me?
Garrus: Oh, absolutely. I heard it myself from a private back on Palaven.
Joker: All right, why does the Alliance hire pilots with brittle bone disease?
Garrus: Because humans are dumbasses that think if their pilots with brittle bone disease just want to fight hard enough, they'll be the equal of any justicar, STG, or battlemaster.

Huh... I don't remember that line before. Did they change that in a patch?

Like what? Rollerskates and prosthetic arms? I still don't see them fighting in special insertion missions because they can afford good shields.

Did you just make that up?
That sounds so stupid and so much worse than what I remember Garrus saying in that joke.

I'd play a volus with rollerskates.

I'll try the Vanguard too sometime. Doesn't mean the character makes much sense.

Id have been fine with a volus engineer. 4 is too much especially considering 3 or them have jobs they have no business specializing in.

The new characters and maps are nice but I want to be able take part in full scale fleet warfare. I want to do other things like rescue civilians, raid enemy compounds, and drive vehicles. MP really needs some new modes to liven things up

I took a few months away and finally re made an account to see this thread is quite big. I am hoping it is IT myself, it is the only way I think I would touch the series again. Bad/good thing I would have to redo 1-3 since my save files went bye-bye. Get it back the way I like it.

I am not sure where the discussion is here but I will say if they don't show anything in the Citadel DLC then that may be it. Only hope after that would be an epic trailer at the next E3 if they have been planning ME4 to be the actual conclusion. Be kind of sweet actually if the lights dimmed and the first thing you heard while everything was still dark in the arena would be "Negative our whole force was decimated." Paraphrasing that perhaps, but damn that would epic.

The discussion veered off massively. Sooo....oops.

I think everything to do with IT more or less hangs on the next DLC, if it is indeed going to be the last SP content. With everyone who's ever written Mass Effect seemingly on board, and most of the major voice actors back, it's gonna be pretty big. Whether or not it's to do with IT is kinda hard to say, though everyone is putting their hope into it. There was that tweet (can't remember who tweeted it) about Bioware planning something so big that we'd all hold on to our copies of Mass Effect 3 forever, but I think for some, it's too little too late. So yeah, everything kinda rides on this DLC whichever way you look at it.

Oh, and if ME4 is the big IT twist or something along those lines....well I'd be out of this thread and these forums pretty sharpish. Wouldn't want to see the amount of **** that would hit the fan then.

At 2794 pages I would bet it veered quite a few times hahaha

True that it would more than likely be this DLC. But good god I would find that kind of funny if ME4 was like that. Be really crazy if ME4 had an even more strange ending LMFAO

I really don't know what to think.  I've been around since about page 300 of Mk 1, and I've seen so many "omg, this is it, we're gonna get the reveal!" moments (ESPECIALLY EC, my God that sucked) that I've completely lost the ability to get my hopes up.  So I don't expect the reveal in the next DLC.  If it happens, fan-****ing-tastic.  If not, meh.

Actually would have been great if volus die like abominations in mp, where they explode. Plus if they were given the ability to not use any health packs so they end up with one life only. Would be fun if the volus gets taken out in front of his squad and boom, after a thermonuclear explosion, suddenly the whole squad is trying to revive themselves
