More SPECULATION:

So, I'm playing the beginning of ME3, to finish a FemShep Trilogy runthrough and to test the Firefight pack, and I noticed something: The little warning next to the vent the Kid is in has a picture of a lightning bolt... hitting someone's head. Duh duh duuuuh!!!

This appears everywhere you see the boy. Or most odd things in the game really.

I'm aware there are several warning signs, but this one seems very specific.

Good eye.  You're right.  It is.  We first discovered it in the first thread.  I did an entire playthrough with the sole purpose of scouring the game for that warning sign.  It isn't found anywhere else in the game.  Every other sign seems to get reused 100 times.  That one is utterly unique to Ventbinger.  Moreover, it makes no sense to be where it is.  There's no electricity in vents.  That's stupid.  That sign is completely out of place, has a unique graphic that could be used to indicate indoctrination warning, and isn't found anywhere else in a game that reuses all its signs everywhere.

People talk about how the shuttle scene where no one else seems to see the kid is the oddest of the Earth scenes.  I disagree.  The vent scene is downright chilling if you keep your eyes peeled.  There's just one thing after another after another after another that raises battleship-sized red flags.

Has this been discussed before?

Edit: Here's the original scene with all other sounds turned on, it is less obvious now ... more subtle.

That's... interesting.

And, from what I've seen, the kid is the second to get shot down, so why the scream when the first goes?

Yes, not to mention that it's impossible to hear any scream at all :wizard:

Was the scream added in EC? I've only heard it mentioned in the last few weeks and I'd have thought it'd be more commonly known i it was there all along.

Both vids are from before EC, so yeah, it was there all along. :)

Very odd no one noticed it until a few weeks ago then. It seems obvious as soon as I saw the video when expecting it.

The kid in the vent definitely isn't real. Real kids don't disappear with a reaper growl or survive buildings exploding or get through locked doors.

Well, that about pushed me towards accepting IT, in a nutshell. I'm sure there are even more examples than the ones listed there. Interesting comments from Archer in there, I assume some of those are if you didn't try to stop Project Overlord? Also, does Shepard get the option to talk about her bad dreams with every LI before Cronos station? Always thought that was a telling point to talk about the subject.

Hmm, a thought. Could Vent kid be an actual plant by the Reapers in some way? A synthetic human kid?? Or is it pretty much decided Shep only sees him? If so what triggers seeing him in the roof top garden playing with the Normandy?

If it's not the same shuttle of the kid to get shot down, then isn't it most likely the scream is from someone else? Might be someone close enough for Shepard to hear a scream?

I mean, that kid was certaintly not the only one in Vancouver (even if he was the only kid we saw). And seeing a shuttle getting blown up will make everyone scream. It might not even have been a kid...

At that distance, it must have been James screaming.

I'm wondering about that myself.
Before I knew about IT I thought the kid was a warning sign sent to Shepard by the Catalyst -- back then (and pre-EC) it seemed rather forthcoming to me.
With IT the kid seemed more of a evil intended Reaper induced hallucination, and still does today.

But never ever did I come to the conclusion that the kid in the beginning was actually real. If Bioware didn't want hat to be ambiguous they wouldn't have made the vent scene look the way it did, it's how to hint and portray a non-real character 101.

Nah, too close. And not very Vega-like.

The scream was barely sound. And it wasn't THAT far.

More Speculation, but not necessarily IT (forgive the old questions, just looking for fresh perspective and non-trolling):

Cerberus. We all know they sort of went from "End justify means" to "Derp, control Reapers," and this is often credited to bad writing/rush. However, if BioWare was oblivious to this odd shift in directive, how come the characters weren't? Shepard often states (indirectly) how idiotic TIM's actions are and questions the reasons for them, but the only explanation we are given is indoctrination.

When would TIM have been indoctrinated? He was not in prolonged contact with the artifact that gave him the magic eyes, and he is smart enough to avoid Reaper tech. I haven't read the novels, but I doubt he would spend much time in the presence of the Collector Base. Could some type of prologue/cerberus-related DLC come along to clarify this a little? Maybe, since it's somewhat Indoctrination-related, IT could fit in?

Playing devil's advocate, he did get implanted with reaper tech, although whether that was before or during ME3 is unclear...

MOAR Possible speculation:

When asked if there will be more Citadel areas added AFTER Leviathan, Mike Gamble said that he couldn't tell us (which is practically a "yes"). Could this open up the possibility of including Keeper tunnels?

EDIT: Also, I went off on a tangent wit my last post. My issue wasn't so much the indoctrination as it was the apparent awareness of BioWare that TIM is so out of character.

EDIT 2:This could also be said about the Crucible blueprints on Mars. Shepard can ask why the hell we are JUST now finding them, and is given a very vague answer. Why would we even be able to question these things if BioWare wasn't aware of these oddities? Lack of choice and dialogue options is somewhat of a theme in ME3, so why give us the ability to question these inconsistencies, only to be met with obvious evasions of them (i.e. Process of elimination, control os better, blew)?

It's also worth mentioning that on that exact sign is a warning: stop code 89.

code 89 is a crime against nature apparently.

That would be a sign.

Your kidding, aren't you? Where has been any scream like this in the whole game? None? Right. And then, all of the sudden, coincidentaly, in the very moments the shuttles went down, we can hear a scream? From that distance, out of a closed shuttle? With an echoed hall effect? Year right. <_<

I'm usually very careful what I accept as evidence, but this scene is definatly not somebody else screaming out of nowhere.
