Thanks for doing these.  By the way the two:

to
http://thundermods.n...ionSEQ3/961.jpg

are just black for me.  Did they not come out?

Also the title Lilith is reminding me of FreeSpace again.  The SC Liliths in that game looked like:
[...]

It's a sequence, just go through the images, 901, 902, 903, ..., 961

Also Lilith was my nickname on that page for some time, somewhere around 2007/2008, that's why the folder is named that way.

No matter how similar, differences inevitably arise, and consequences are inherently unpredictable. However, a brain is to some degree a self organizing system, and as such, internal corrections can be made that would allow it be sufficiently similar to the point of being acceptably functionally the same. Still, the possibility of dramatic changes are inescapable and there is no guarantee of acceptably similar continued co-evolution.
ShepAI is most definitely not Shepard, and would likely evolve down a significantly different path.

Free will does not exist in the absolute. Conscious choice does however. Your response is interdependent to your environment because you are interdependent to it. This does not mean that you cannot consciously choose amongst perceived choices, only that you cannot see the totality of forces acting upon both object and subject. It's also important to understand that the brain is not one cohesive unit, and that "mind" is a transient state of cognition and not a permanent entity. Our brain is a system of both independent and interdependent parts, and as such one has a measure of control over the response to the data provided by those typically conflicting systems.

Thanks for this spotless. Some real food for thought there.

Anyway, goodnight everyone.

Hey guys, sorry to butt in with something that's probably inconsequential but I noticed something while playing through Mass Effect again. Just wanted to see what you guys thought. I love music, so I notice weird things like this. When you "embrace eternity" with Liara after you rescue her from the dig site, listen to the music playing in the background. Since I don't know how to embed the links in the words all fancy-like, you're going to have to settle for clicking the links :)

Here's Liara's scene:

www.youtube.com/watch

Now compare that to the music in this scene:

www.youtube.com/watch

Like I said, maybe it's nothing, but I figured I'd let you guys decide :D

I think it just might be the same music, but amplified for Harbinger's arrival.  Interesting that the same music that plays right before Liara joins her mind with yours plays right before (According to IT) Harbinger joins his mind with yours, isn't it? ;)

Agreed.  Although, it looked like they all got up afterwards, so at least none of them were killed.

IT would work very well if we took the ME scenarios and planted them in the real world. IT falls apart under literary analysis, however. The story and configuration of ME plot shows and outright states IT is simply not the case.

I'm not defending ME's plot, just pointing out that IT is head-canon. You can't really get away from that.

No more that the face value interpretation is headcanon. Both are simply ways of viewing the same thing. Saying IT is headcanon really doesn't mean anything because Bioware never said if it was intended or not. Unless something is disproven, it's not headcanon. Like Evil-Chris said, IT remains as a valid possibility for the end of ME3. How is that headcanon?

True, but it also works the other way round, so literal is also a valid possibility, which is a bit too often disregarded in this thread.

Both are equally valid, sure. But what I cant stand is how often the literal view gets a free pass and rarely gets questioned nearly as aggresively as IT. Few players outside this thread want to challange the literal interpretation despite how easy it is to poke holes in it.

Oh man, I just had a possible Fridge Horror moment. Remember how Jack gets calmer and less violent in ME3? Well, I just remembered that in ME2 her unique upgrade mentions in its description that she's suffering neural decay. I wonder if the two are connected. O_O

I dont think neural decay would make her more stable.

I don't know.  I think I've heard of people changing sections of the brain to reduce aggression in, say, mental patients (Not condoning it, just the first example that popped into my head.).  If the right sections of the brain were to decay...

ALERT! ALERT! Thread moving slow! I'll post my thoughts on the child not being real!

Shepard sees a child playing on a rooftop, then the Reapers come. The child has a short amount of time to leave the park on the roof. Later in the level, you can see the same place where the child was at the beginning of the game- except that there is not park there anymore.

Next, the kid would have to travel a very long distance to the near top of another massive building. The child can be seen sitting near the edge of that building, watching a Reaper. As you move closer, he runs through a locked door to get in the building, which is later destroyed by the Reapers. A massive explosion happens in the room where the child is hiding .

When you enter the building, you hold open a stuck door for Anderson. When Anderson goes through, Shepard goes to an air vent with the child in it. The conversation with the child is eerie ("You can't save me."), what child refuses help from a millatary officer? When Anderson aproaches, the child is gone. And a Reaper growl sounds.

At the Evac sight for the child, nobody except Shepard seems to notice him. The child struggles to climb into the shuttle, and nobody even attempts to help him. When the child climbs in, he looks up, directly at Shepard.

After all this, personally, I believe that the child was never real. The child was fake right from the start of the game. I think that the Reapers are using this child to haunt Shepard about his failure to save him. The child also appears in Shepard's dreams, these dreams include lots of Indoctrination codex clues (oily shadows for one), and to top it all off, the "Catalyst" appears as that very child.
