I have been playing through some of the other Bioware titles recently (most notably KoToR and DA:O) and the plot twist really stuck out to me...and it got me thinking, has there been that plot twist in ME?

ME 1 - Sovereign is a Reaper

ME 2 - Collector's were the Protheans

Ok, seems to be following the pattern so far...

ME 3- ?????

Is it just me, or is that game as is - missing the huge plot twist that Bioware is known for? I think that most here on this thread would agree what would fit perfectly...

Plus, in ME the Citadel turned out to be a Mass Relay trap, and yeah, no real twist in ME3....

Except for what IT entails...B)

While I do completely agree with you on this point (the most extreme way of listening to their fans and having their opinions matter) I truly believe that they had this planned out. It's in their history to have these twist-endings. They certainly have done things like this before with Jade Empire for example. Plus throughout the series, lore that has been established has been followed up on (Oily Shadows, nightmares with whispers, alien voices in the head). If this was not planned in the beginning it certainly was in mind for Arrival.

I'm inclined to agree with you that Bioware probably planned this twist. As you say, they definitely have "previous" when it comes to this kind of thing, and there's just so much that seems deliberately "off" during the game.

I'm just saying that, in the unlikely event that they didn't plan it, or that they planned to leave the question forever unresolved, but then changed their minds and decided to make indoctrination explicit through DLC due to fan feedback, I certainly wouldn't hold it against them.

I think no one of us expected Casper and all the :wizard:
At the moment it was a great, huge, bad, crappy twist

And that Shepard could survive Harbinger's beam, and that the breath scene is on the Citadel.

Im sorry, but no.

Possible twists are:
Citadel is Catalyst (Citadel is Relay copycat)
Reapers are the good guys (duh)
TIM/Saren were right (duuuh)

And none of them are mind blowing but rather gutpunching.

So yeah, I'm still waiting for my twist. ^_^

As any Grey Warden is essentially doomed it was just a "sucks even more to be you" thing but no twist. Sandal killing all the Darkspawn, that was rather something that got me "wtf?"

By the way.... We have two important Earth locations, and none of them was visited yet.
Rio - where the N7 training facility is, and Singapore - the first place on earth that got contaminated by Eezo.

In the Final Hours app they mention that initially they wanted to start the game by showing what happens around the world in places like Vancouver, London, Rio and Singapore. but later it was scrapped for better pacing.

Hell, it's not even that.  That sociotechnological balance speech is real science.  It's not something they made up for Mordin to sound smart.  It's real world science.  And it's wrong because Mordin made a mistake on something totally unrelated.  I just...  I don't even have the words to properly mock that.

Better pacing my ass. It has EA written all over it.

Added some stuff: reposting for those that might have missed it.

ivenoidea wrote...

So i was playing through Leviathan again today and noticed a couple things.

I already pointed out shortly after release how very similar Indoctrination is to the mind control thing the Leviathans use. This makes sense because after all the reapers were built in the Leviathan's image.

There are a couple similarities between the scene where Shepard is thrown into this "alternative reality" created by the Leviathans and the last scene with Star Child.

Firstly the obvious one: The Leviathans take a shape that Shepard is familiar with, so he feels more comfortable talking. Is this not the exact thing the Star Child does? It takes the shape of the child that Shepard encountered in Vancouver and dreamt about so much.

Secondly: We can see Shepard lying there while he is in his "hallucination". At the end of it he suddenly wakes up quickly, somewhat similarily to the breath scene.

Those 2 things already tell us that Bioware are trying to draw parallels between those 2 scenes.

The third thing might need some explanation. We already established that a lot of things in the last 15 mins, after "The Run" are things Shepard has, in some form already seen.

Remember this scene? youtu.be/oRXR8oxKtBA

When i saw it first i thought it was odd, usually animations look much better, this time around it looked kinda jerky, like it didn't belong there. Well, guess what, that particular animation is just something Shepard had seen before. Check this out: youtu.be/5bt8_niKjQ8

Yep, that's Thane's loyalty mission and it's the same exact animation. It's only one of 2 cases where i noticed Bioware reuse old animation and having it look odd.

The second one is this: youtu.be/G9UkWqSG2QQ

The pose in which Shepard enters the hallucination. Seems familiar? Well it should.

youtu.be/W8WQ8bntA8g From the Star Child scene.

And guess what, in both cases where it is used it seems kinda jerky, as if to give a small hint that something is off.

Just another case of Bioware yelling "YEAH YOURE RIGHT" in the face of IT. Opinions?

Edit: As Rifneno pointed out, Shepard was in the kneeling position like that once already: youtu.be/M14Uihbb8w4

This proves further that it was not a coincidence they used that animation. They just put it in Leviathan to reinforce it.

Edit2: This was also pointed out. From "The Arrival". Remember, this dlc was made specifically to connect to ME3. youtu.be/IqoqjiBwLhA
