You can kill the VS with the Carnifex as well.  And Wrex.  And I think Legion as well.  And Samara's daughter.

You free the Rachni Queen with a Predator.  You can kill Legion and Samara's daughter with the Predator, though.

um so killing Legion with a Predator is good. Well optional, but so is Mordins.

Edited some mistakes, Legion and Samara's daughter.

But there's a big list of bad things that happens with the Carnifex.

Yep, Saren only uses a pistol twice: once to kill Nihlus because of indoctrination (Carnifex), and the other time to kill himself to break free of indoctrination (Predator). Fai Dan, the Thorian-controlled leader of Zhu's Hope, also kills himself with a Predator. Everytime you fight Kai Leng you have one, you (and your squadmates) have them when facing the VS, who has a Carnifex, during the Citadel coup. You free the Rachni queen from the Reapers with one. I'm sure there are more.

Also, the first four shots are Carnifex gunshots, but the rest are Predator gunshots, and it changes right when the camera does the close up of Shepard, when her resolve seems to strengthen. According to Megumi, all of these gunshots are not caused by the gun firing, but added after the fact, like a voice over.

There's no way around it being intentional, and there's no explaination for that that doesn't involve symbolism. And the only symbolism that could be there is fighting off indoctrination.

Not to mention Anderson is the one originally with the Carnifex, but on the Citadel he's got a Predator (which TIM takes from him).  Its very symbolic of Anderson being the 'good' side of Shepard's psyche, and having his strength taken from him and twisted by the 'bad' side.

Edit: I also checked when Saren shoots a Keeper.  He's got a Geth Pulse Rifle (firing it one handed!), though it sounds like a Predator.  I think he uses a pistol during his boss fights, though?

Where did Andersons Predator come from anyway? Right before the beam run he holds up a Carnifex clearly for us to see. Yet it is a Predator TIM takes from him. Might obviusly be a back up weapon, but still curious.

Also if you **** up so much that Wrex comes to kill you on the Citadel, guess which weapon you take him out with should you choose to do it yourself.

Does anyone know what the threshold is for seeing the breath scene, post EC, with or without Anderson's survival? I read that you need 3100 ems to see all the scenes, but I can't find out if Anderson's death increases that.

Probably the same place he pulls the extra Predator he has during the intro Earth mission.

From his 'back pocket'.

Wow this Carnifex vs. Predator is really interesting. Really interesting. Wow if more people could even entertain the idea of IT then Bioware's reputation wouldn't be continually tarnished.

IT is pretty much the reason why I stopped being angry at Bioware.

Though they still make me angry, for other reasons.  But I'm not raging anymore.

The only case of not Canifex for the lose seems to be killing Legion. Though why I cant quite comprehend.

Which this isn't.

So no.
