Perhaps he was real only in the very first scene, when playing with the toy, but even that is doubtful, considering the fact that everything about that scene just symbolically screams that it's an illusion (the optical -and auditory!- illusion of the space ship being a toy, the boy controlling it, etcetera)

Not to mention the stock echoy child laugh.  The same one that's used again and again whenever there's a ghostly scene of 'innocence lost' - the park dream in Terminator 2, the echoes in the pipes in Metro 2033, etc...

With all those skills, it's no wonder he doesn't need Shepard's help!

And if you've got good surround sound, you can tell how the other Reaper sounds are coming from outside.  That one's not.  It's... pretty much all around you at once.

Yeah, I've heard that too.  I can't remember the passage where it happened though.  I'm sure it was Paul Grayson, but... eh.  Maybe it's a good excuse to reread Retribution.

And he's right next to that ridiculous "lightning bolt to the head" warning sign. Because people need to be warned of the dangers of electrocution if they suddenly decide to crawl through an air vent, for some reason.

The sign which bears a passing resemblance to Edvard Munch's famous painting "The Scream" which he created to depict his mental illness.

I could be spitballing with the last point though.

My favorite part is that that ridiculous-if-literal warning sign is unique.  I actually did a playthrough of the game once with the sole purpose of scouring every single corner of the game trying to find that sign somewhere else.  It's ONLY used in Vancouver at that vent.  It eventually got put into a multiplayer map, but the MP dev team is seperate and honestly they might not even know what the SP team's plans are.  Even still, in the original game, in the SP game, that sign which makes no sense if literal and perfect sense with IT, is found nowhere else in the game.  Despite every other warning sign getting recycled dozens and dozens of times.

I refuse to believe that's Vancouver.  Canada with no snow?  I call shenanigans!

Hey, I just finished Metro 2033 a few days ago.  It was pretty great.  I definitely need to do a second playthrough so I can see the other ending, though.

I'm pretty sure that the gun normally is there. Maybe I should check myself. Probably just a glitch, though.

Hello all!

Yes, this is something that happens all the time.  Could it be meant to suggest that Shepard's defenses are weakened?

Hello Banshee.
