There's just too many inconsistencies to be something like bad writing or bad programming. I also found in the scenes before at the missile batteries there a few weird things that were standing out but I'm still working on that before I think any part might be what I would call more blurring of reality with non reality.

since I don't really think a lot of the EC either I'm saying it's before even without the EC. At worse non reality begins to bleed into reality during the beam run. For me the only thing that significantly changes in that beam run is the Normandy evac otherwise I think the rest is the same (I know I could be wrong here)

Some time ago there was a discussion about the red tint in the picture used by Gamespot for the GOTY vote. I want to add to that - the reddish tint on Shepard's face actually comes from the Omni-Blade.

There could definitely be some WNT going on during the beam run, but the true entry into the dream is certainly getting lased.
Everything was so much more obvious and simple before EC.

Dude, seriously. That's simply the draw distance. Smaller objects appear and disappear at smaller distances than large objects. In most games, even with settings on maximum, you can see the grass pop up right in front of your feet.
