Yes please to the marriage proposal with the LI. In fact I wouldn't be averse to seeing the actual marriage ceremony. Edi could catch the bouquet and give a meaningful look to a visibly nervous Joker. ^_^

Although that might be pushing the schmaltz factor a little too far for some. People might find it a bit too "Return of the King". EDIT: Not me though, I'd love a thoroughly comprehensive ending that wrapped up happily for everyone.

Also I'd like Anderson to pull through and get together with Kahlee.

Sorry to quote my own post, but I've decided that I regret my equivocation above. To hell with it, I DO want my Return of the King / Jedi, ending for ME3. I don't care if grimdark-loving hipsters find it cheesy.

It's the ending to an epic 70+ hour story, it deserves a full-on, cathartic experience to wrap up every character's journey.

Tears of sorrow for Mordin and Thane. Tears of joy at the LI reunion.

Garrus and Tali building a house on Rannoch, Tali draws her hood back to show her breathing the air of her own world and smiling. Ando so on for all squadmates, past and present.

I wouldn't mind if the epilogue was an hour long and featured dancing Voluses! (In fact that would be adorable).
I think we deserve a little light relief tbh.

Dance and music party with lots of NPC's form across from the game gathered  like the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time ending ftw :P. Cut to private party with Shepards squad and to Shepard and his/her chosen LI leaving early and then cut to special LI secene depending on who you choose.

There, perfect happy part.

I must admit I am bit of a sucker for bittersweet endings. This mostly relates to a severe dislike for when things seem to just have been too easy for the heroes. When every single good major character is able to walk away unchanged, unscathed from a world changing event something is wrong if you ask me. If things are never going to be the same again the characters of the story should reflect it.

My own stories reflect this and my biggest story is currently planned to end with the death of the main characters as they die to save the world one last time. But they die leaving behind several grown up happy children of theirs who carry on their legacy and eventually rebuild a world which in my mian story had been ravaged by a millenia of struggle.

But that is not the ending I wish upon Mass Effect, Shepard while he may fall, should also be able to rise through this.

We clearly see the effects of the war as several planets are reduced to rubble and even under the best of circumstances at least 3 friends will give or have given their life for us to get as fast as we got. We are constantly reminded of who is gone through the memorial wall (brilliant move by Bioware by the way. Added a tangible reminder of who was gone without forcing it down our throats)

What i need in the ending at the moment is just one final push with the potential of more losses, but not necesarily any who are forced (maybe except Anderson as I really doubt he is going to make it out even in a non IT ending). By now I would feel fine seeing the sun rise and knowing that the Galaxy is free from the threat of the Reapers, to see Shepar reunited with his love interest and a ceremony acknowledging the dead.

Sorry, you posted while I was composing mine. I hope you don't think I was accusing you of being a "grimdark-loving hipster".

Bittersweet is fine with me, just so long as there IS some sweet. Just like RotK actually. Sam got his happy ending, but Frodo had wounds that would "never fully heal" both physical and mental. Just so long as Shepard gets the love and support that he/she needs from the LI, I'll be happy.

I suspect you said that in jest, but I'd actually rather like that.

I dont, In fact i dont like when endings get too grimdark either. There needs to be happiness, a light, completely depressing endings are just terrible.

RotK is a good example. Most characters got their happy ending, but some were changed forever and others dident stick around (like Gandalf).

I am especially a sucker for heroic sacrifices, always gets me. This is also why despite my several surviving Grey Wardens in DA:O I also got one who refused Morrigan and killed the Archdemon. Double points of awesome because I was playing a Mage named Raistlin Majere largely basing him of the character from the Dragonlance books (who is one of my favorite characters ever, in case my user name was not enough of an indication). Well if anyone here knows Dragonlance and how Raistlin met his end they should know why the heroic sacrifice against the Archdemon was so fitting.

Only half jesting about the party part. A scene similar to the end of Star Wars Ep VI showing the celebrations across the planets with maybe singling out certain NPC's we can recognice would be nice and then cut to Shepard and everyone else having a private party in Rio.

Give us jokes, happiness. Joker dancing with EDI, Garrus, Wrex, Zaeed and Vega sharing stories and boasts even as they drink more and more, Shepard sitting with his LI, Jacob bringing more drinks to everyone (he offered) have Miranda and Jack in a epic staredown, Tali getting drunk through a straw and perhaps starring to emitate Legion's speech pattern and even Samara cutting a bit loose. Epic points if Hacket walked in and the Virmire Survivor immediately standing up in attention only for Hakcet to smile and ask if there is room for one more at the party.

Then give us a memory scene as everyone raises a glass in respect for the fallen and finish with Shepard and LI leaving the party together and cut to their special scene.

You sure? My memory's a bit fuzzy on the timeline.

I am positive.

I posit a solution: EVA did plant certain aspects of the device there. It doesn't matter if Liara knew about the device, it matters what they used after. It's a half-truth, and therefore more believable. Hell, maybe the Crucible is only a trap because of that. I doubt it, but whatever.

Even just a copy-paste of the end of RotK would be awesome in my opinion. That's how you end a series!

Agreed!

You know, random musing here.

Firstly, the Leviathans. I get the strange feeling that perhaps they aren't exactly what they appear to be. Remember their words? They claimed to be the 'progeny' of the Leviathans. If we look the definition of the word:

1. a descendant or offspring, as a child, plant, or animal.
2. such descendants or offspring collectively.
3. something that originates or results from something else; outcome; issue.

and

1. the immediate descendant or descendants of a person, animal, etc
2. a result or outcome

By the definition of the latter options, the Reapers could also be described as 'progeny of the Leviathans'. So they might be genetically altered and/or augmented Leviathans, much in the same way Collectors are to Protheans?

Also, one way to 'defeat' the Reapers that's plausible. Kill Harbinger, their 'leader'. Even if he doesn't directly control them, the loss of their oldest and most powerful would be a crippling blow to the Reapers. It would shake their god-complex opinion of themselves, and remind them what its like to be mortal - fear, doubt, confusion. Such an act might cause them to retreat, at least for the time being.

I also think that while Harbinger and 'The Catalyst' are the same being, that it is only the dragon to the true Big Bad. Who that is, we can't know yet. But its hinted at as being 'The Intelligence'. I still don't think we've encountered it yet, and it might come into play as it rallys the fleeing Reapers and takes personal charge of the Harvest?

Infact, I get the feeling The Intelligence is a Leviathan.

Speaking of things that kill people, it's depressing how tiny the claymore is in ME3. It still weighs a ton too. WTF is it made out of? Iridium? Seriously, the HV barrel I put on it was half the length of the gun itself.

On the bright side, it's fun how squadmates are unaffected by weight. I just gave Vega a claymore 1 with hv barrel and omniblade on it. That thing must weigh more than he does. "Command, my back..." "Man up."

It's certainly possible.  Way more possible than it being a ghost who haunts the Citadel.  Another good possibility is this thing.  It's a planet that some believe may actually be a supercomputer.  Wrap your mind around that.  A computer the size of a planet.  ...  Did I mention it's a gas giant?
