They have a point. There is some degree of intolerance and unfriendliness. Why are people this mean to others?

The entire reason why I visited BSN in the first place is because I thought you guys would be glad to see me. Instead, I get a middle finger each time I don't share the same views as you guys do. Well, I've had enough now. I can think of better things to do in my spare time than to argue with a group of zealots that have been indoctrinated by their own theory.

That is why I've had enough, ok? I don't count you among those ****s who in fact do that. You're one of the rare nice and understanding people, one of them that tend to be respectful to others. Along with Lex0r and banshee, you're one of the uys I quite like.

I had an epiphany. What if we've been looking at this wrong the whole time? What if people have been putting too much weight on exactly what this "Intelligence" is?

dorktainian wrote...
To solve this problem, we created an intelligence with the mandate to preserve life at any cost. As the intelligence evolved, it studied the development of civilizations. Its understanding grew until it found a solution. In that instant, it betrayed us. It chose our kind as the first harvest. From our essence, the first Reaper was created. You call it Harbinger.

I direct you to the Mass Effect 2: The Story So Far trailer. It's awesome in and of itself, with TIM narrating it. But one very specific section is relevant to my idea.

"50000 years ago, an ancient race - the Protheans - was destroyed by a mysterious artificial intelligence known as : The Reapers."

What if the "Intelligence" is the reapers? In that trailer, TIM referred to the reapers an a single intelligence, somewhat like the geth.

This could mean any number of things. It doesn't even mean there is an entity like the Guardian. Or maybe Harbinger is the reapers? As in, the rest of them are slaves, and he is the only truly independent one? Or perhaps in the sense that they are all part of him. Maybe killing him would defeat the rest? Or maybe I'm crazy? What do you think?

(Late reply, I know.)

Ya know, the first thing that came to my mind after readng this was:

Sovereign/Nazara:  We are each a nation. (etc.)

You could easily imagine it like the U.S., a confederation of states (State of Nazara) under a central power (Harbinger)

Before ME3 was released, I 'knew' the ending would have been a confrontation with our beloved Harby, and that we would have ended the other reapers by killing him, like lights going out without electricity.
In IT, turns out that this is what happens through a final battle with Harby, that happens in the mind and is fought with our resolve. Being that ( to me) the crucible will do nothing and was a clever reaper deception, maybe by choosing destroy we deny Harby the full control of Shepard and instead we destroy what he stands for, and his mind, thus turning off the other reapers (which is what the red wave does, anyway)

In the end, really good post as always, Banshee, and really thought-provoking ;)

But if the Reapers hadnt stepped in and upgraded the geth, the quarians would have won without Shepard ever getting involved. The catalyst is clearly wrong.

No. They got lucky. There is no certainty that not another synthetic race is created that wins at some point.

No they did not get lucky, they simply were too powerful for the geth.  This blows the Catalyst's little thesis to hell, so he sends his thralls to try and turn it around.

The two parts I left are the parts I like, where she says dont attack my friends, then attacks masster's friends. I was going to go on a long diatribe about how she is basically acting like a huge troll, but I'll hold back. Mostly because for no reason masster posted something she probably expected to be private.

I'll just post this:

Thank you, and good too see you again. :) Unfortunately, some people seem to have left, perhaps for good, and there is needless insulting from everyone going around now. So I say STOP FIGHTING. The fight is over. You already had them leave, you don't need to desecrate the bodies by insulting them when they are not even here to defend themselves. So I will leave now too (to eat dinner :P) and I hope you all stop this madness. I know we don't have much to discuss right now, but let's keep it together and get along.

To be fair, the geth were kind of retarded.

Shepard: So what did you do after our Collector mission?
Legion: We returned to the geth consensus.  We understood that the Old Machines would return.  We prepared for war.
Shepard: So how did the quarians cause this panic that resulted in the geth siding with the Reapers?
Legion: We were building a megastructure.  Creators began bombing.  Many geth could not be saved.
Shepard: What?  You prepared for war with the Reapers by uploading yourselves into a structure so unsecured that the most notoriously rickety, ****ty fleet in the galaxy almost wiped you out?
Legion: ...  No data available?

Nope. It is basing the "idea" on infinite time, and logic dictates if infinite time is available it will happen. There is peace now, but organics and synthetics are too different to ever exclude the possibility of a disagreement which escalates into the destruction of one of the participants.

The universe doesnt have infinite time. If the catalyst is basing all his assumptions on the idea that there is infinite time, he is fundamentally flawed.

And the Catalyst bases hs entire premise that only organics will be destroyed.  On Rannoch it becomes evident that this is not the case.  The Catalyst is wrong, sorry.

Ahh, this is fun huh? I remember lurking on this thread and seeing how awesome it was. I remember posting on here and engaging in the discussion, those were the days. I want no part in a lot of the discussion anymore, because it simply isn't discussion. How sad.

Anybody want to talk about the game? Or just **** about how much we don't like other people?

Alas, as if anybody would actually take this post seriously.

Oh my God I have just got three tops in a row!!:D:D:D

Let's say you roll a 100 sided dice once and roll a 100. Would you expect any other roll to be a 100 now because in your sample size of 1 you got 100% 100 and 0% 1-99?
