No, the assertion is never stated as "all synthetics always win". It doesn't specify the synthetics at all.

'The created will always rebel against the creators.'

Never once have the Reapers rebelled against the catalyst.

His own creations  prove his logic ot be flawed.

Unrelated rambling. God, I love the krogan. "There's a Reaper in my way, Wrex!" "I know, you get all the fun!"

I don't know how you could go with Wreav. Wrex is just pure awesome.

Hmm. Past Tuchanka. Haven't decided on this playthrough's romance. Let's see, what haven't I tried that's available. ... Kaiden, and Allers. ... Maybe I'll just get Shepard one of those "back massagers." =/

Thats the point.  Peace proves nothing.  It is a delaying action at best.  Destroying the geth proves that organics are not doomed to be destroyed by synthetics, and his whole argument blows up in his face.

So healing a disease isn't worth the time, and proves that medicine isn't useful?

Peace is always a delaying action.  Doesn't mean its worthless or proves nothing.

By the Catalyst's own logic, nothing will solve the problem.  Even Synthesis, under its most fairy-dust magic unicorn peace and happy bunny interpretation is only a delaying action. Even annihilating the universe would be a delaying action, because eventually it would reform or a new one would form from the remains and it all starts over again.

Ultimately delays are what makes live what it is.  People will fight to survive under ridiculous situations, even when they know ultimately they will die.

The universe doesnt have infinite time. If the catalyst is basing all his assumptions on the idea that there is infinite time, he is fundamentally flawed.

It is, but even that's a moot point, because if there were infinite time, then everything would be inevitable. Everything. Ever. Making a solution literally impossible.

byne wrote...

Pro-tip: if the Reapers hadnt intervened, the quarians would have wiped the geth out. You cant use reaper intervention in a war against organics as proof that synthetics will always win.

Thats like seeing a dog chasing cat, seeing the cat nearly get away, and then grabbing the cat up and throwing it to the dog, then claiming it proves that dogs will always catch cats when they chase them. It only ended up that way because you stepped in.

Exactly.

You can't disprove it because it is so ridiculous.
Which is really just bad programming, this is what Mass effect came to after 5 years.

Sh*tty programming by a super advanced race that were worried about AI.

"The Created will always destroy their creators"
-Insane AI

He very clearly means synthetics will rebel and destroy organics.  He is in no way ambiguous about this.

Catalyst: The created will always rebel against their creators.
Shepard: What happened to your creators?
Catalyst: I murdered them and made them into the first Reaper.
Shepard: ....  I should go.

I know what your explanation will be though, and I disagree with you.

Why do you think that?

Faith in the geth/quarian relations and a belief knowledge will allow the Galaxy to coexist and not let things like the geth/quarian war happen ever again.

You know.  That's.  Erm.

An overreaction?  An extreme one?

If someone can handle having orders barked at them, being shot at, explosions going off nearby, the fear of nearby landmines...  But can't handle mild criticism on the internet?  Yeah, something isn't right there.

And I never once had a go at her.  I almost bit her head off for a really stupid comment she made a while back, but I reconsidered.  So honestly her words are unjustified and I'm geniunely insulted by them.

Look Megumi, I've never disliked you, but you're here saying both that Shepard could survive the Citadel explosion and that Starbinger's logic makes sense, while wearing a Seival Contolysis banner.

It's taking every last bit of my willpower to not think of you as not trolling.

It's a common narrative structure. The villain is given an ideological position and by the time the hero confronts the villain, the hero has found a case that contradicts the predictions of the villain. We are given no evidence from the plot itself that synthetics actually will inevitably destroy organics, all things being equal and without Reaper assistance. Every. Single. Case. of synthetics vs. organics has Reaper involvement in it.

The Catalyst is actually setup perfectly as a Straw Hypocrite because of how the Reapers have inserted themselves into every synthetic vs. organic conflict and always sided with the synthetics. Sadly, he never gets called on it.

Regardless of whether anyone thinks that inevitably synthetics will
destroy organics, the narrative itself does not take the side of
Starbinger.

I can never play full renegade, or even mostly.  Too much dickery to too many innocent people.  Like beating up Mouse and then ratting him out (no pun intended).  No point to it, it's just... douchebaggery for the sake of douchebaggery.  Not that there isn't tons of lawful-stupid paragon stuff.  Like not shooting Kenson.  I usually go with a mostly balanced approach.  Paragon to the good guys, renegade to the bad guys.  Reapers always get the renegade dialogue.  None of those sissy "woe is me, maybe you're right, maybe we can't win, but we'll try anyway" para**** stuff.

It actually works against him.  The Protheans were WINNING the Metacon War until Reaper intervention, same with the quarians.

Life is a delay. Of death. By that logic (not you Andromidius/Thane) we should just kill ourselves now because we're all going to die at some point anyway.
