Remember a lot of stuff was cut from the original ending to make it shorter? I guess this is one of them, and I can only think of one good reason why. The same reason the IT is much more fluid in the original ending, and why I think the EC is non-canon. Because it's way dreamier if it's shorter.Eryri wrote...

I found Anderson's goodbye, with the combination of the images of Earth and that lovely piece of music playing in the background incredibly moving.
Its too bad they cut the goodbye short. I like the full version much better.
So do I. I can't think why Casey insisted Mac cut it down.
Unless... (engaging tin-foil-hat mode), Casey was already planning some post ending content in which the real Anderson might still be alive, and thought a big, elaborate death scene for fake Anderson would be a waste...?

The only reason i can think of is that Anderson had a wife at one point, and although its never directly stated, the shadow broker dossier on him implies he had kids.

Oh yes I remember. It seems unlikely that Mac would forget that while writing the scene, or that no one would notice the mistake until after the actors recorded the lines. Perhaps they thought it would be too obvious a clue that this wasn't the real Anderson?

Hm. I think it's okay that Anderson dies at the end of this war.
Let him finally sit down.

Right. Because it's Anderson-Shep. It's part of what Shep might want. Someone once made a great post about Shepard wanting kids, and the effect that has. Was it Arashi? Crap, it was good!byne wrote...

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. From what Shepard knows about Anderson, the full version of the speech is correct, and exactly what an Anderson constructed only from what Shepard knows about him would say.

I'll be pissed if they kill him after building up him and Kahlee for 3 books and a game.

did anderson survive the initial reaper attack on earth? As i said yesterday (i think) he was right next to shepard when it all went boom. Yet he is seen when shep regains conciousness standing there like nowt had happened. Sheps re-enforced body took a right hit, yet anderson.....not a scratch...seriously?

Yeah, that's right. I didn't even started telling all my favourite jokes, that cause him to loose it - like the one where TIM is actually a reaper, or that GLYPH is the intelligence created by the leviathans, and that QEC are all tied into reapers as proxy's... ))
+2 But like Lex said, in high EMS.draconian139 wrote...

I suppose that's the most appropriate arc for his character, but a small, mushy part of me, wants Anderson to officiate at my Shepard's wedding. Space Admirals from the future can do that, right...?
