No, it's in line with the story. The option to save the base, although folly, leaves valuable intel. Why would the reapers leave it there? The same reason they made all of their mistakes:

Hubris

They never even thought someone would get there. They never thought the protheans could build a relay either, or sabotage the keeper signal. They never anticipated the destruction of Sovereign, or that we would sacrifice the Alpha Relay. I mean, how could anything threaten the pinaccle of evolution?

Edit: Or what LDS said. Hey Rose :)

Hey hun.

And yes thats exactly it they think they are gods and that the can control everything so they seem to lack the common sense of maybe the fact that they ARE NOT GODS! They are just images of their creators who also seem to think highly of them selves.

Edit: Back later got stuff to do outside away from a computer lol.

From my comparison under VI: Weaknesses A) Overconfidence:

"It's not that hard to surprise you when you think so little of us humans. You think you have us all figured out, but you don't know a thing about us. You're too arrogant to see that things might not go your way." - Alphonse Elric

Just to recap some old speculations. I brought this up 4 months ago. Remember in ME2 you have to stop synthetic that are infected with a virus that has to be Destoyed before all Synthetics are infected.

Well iit so happenns that Destroy is similar. Think about it. If those Synthetics had AI programming systems, and could talk. Then in a sense you are killing innocent Synthetics. Yet your doing this so that all Synthetics won't be targeted/ infected with the Virus.

What I am about to get at is....The Geth consenses mission. Shepard has to kill the infected Geth from within the Geth network. This is similar to what you did in ME2. Now at the end of ME3 we have Destroy ending which kills the Reapers, and all Synthetic life. Including Shepard.

Yet in this ending it's more of a purg the system. Think about it EDI is made up of Reaper tech. The Geth's upgrades are based off the Reaper codes. You see where I am going. No. Well......

I already said that Geth have their upgrades that are based off the Reaper codes that they used against the Geth. EDI is made up of Reaper tech, and Shepard has Indoctrination syphtems.

Destroy does not kill the Reapers, but more like kills the virus. Indoctrination. I mean the hold that the Reapers have on Shepard.

So it really is like.

Refuse: You refuse to give Shepard the cure, causing him/her to die.
Destroy: You give Shepard the cure, and it Destroyers the virus.
Control: You try to control the virus, only to have it take control of your body/ mind.
Synthesis: You give Shepard more of the virus. Causing Shepard to be lost forever.

Wait wait wait wait. IF the only way to activate Vendetta in the Beacon on Thessia. You had to have the Prothean cipher. How in the hell did the Protheans expect for the other races in the next cycle, or cycles to come to unlock Vendetta? It makes no sense. Also I was watching a video when Shepard is in the temple, and nobody notices that the Prothean statue is glowing, except Shepard. Then Shepard slowly approaches the beacon, and closes her eyes. Now what's funny it usually Shepard is in pain when ever he/she feels the beacon/ activates it, but this time it didn't.

Yeah, I pointed that out in another thread just recently.  And the Crucible plans that the "Protheans" left for humanity?  They put in a vault that couldn't be cracked until right before the Reapers invaded.  Either the Protheans were too retarded to put their boots on by themselves, or it's all a Reaper setup.

It's almost as convenient as the Crucible plans being fully intact even though the Reapers are famous for cleansing the galaxy of anything that references them.
Reaper1: Allright, we finished wiping out the Protheans on Mars, but we found data for a superweapon that can wipe us out. What do you want us to do with it.
Reaper2: Just leave it, it's not like anybody will find it.
Reaper1: But isn't the planet next door going to have a spacefaring species by next cycle?
Reaper2: I'm sure they'll never even look here with the gift relay we left in this system. Just leave it.

Yeah, right...

The Protheans froze the Sol relay in orbit of Pluto. They didn't actually get wiped out by the Reapers on Mars. They didn't want the Reapers to find Humans and discover they were interested in them.

Carmin. Reaper where on Mars. In ME1 if you helped Shiala, and accepted the locket. You go on a planet that she tells you to go, and you find a Prothean/ Leviathan orb. Now what's intresting is that the Protheans were experimenting on a Human, and the next time Shepard sees the human a Reaper like discription kill the Human, and the last words you read are " this human was from Mars." Well similar in a way.

Also if they did, then why are they not alive?

Possibly had an unviably small population, like the survivors of Illos.

... uhm.... what? What I interpreted out of that was that the Protheans were experimenting, and the drone that you read about was a Prothean drone. It didn't KILL the human, but merely sedated it for study. That's what I got out of the passage. How else would it end up on a Prothean datacore? If it was after the Reaper invasion, it wouldn't have been scattered that far.

I'd also like to state, I played ME1 somewhere around 23 times, I'm quite versed in all of the various side-quests and all from it. ME2 I didn't play more than 10.

Are we now suggesting that every single orb-device in the game belongs to the Leviathans and NOT the Protheans?

He's talking about this.  It's an interesting wall of text.  The thing that was studying him sounds an awful lot like an Oculus.

And I'm almost 100% sure they're repurposed Prothean drones or fighters.

Yeah, because tech that requires stripping someone down to their nervous system and building a fighter around that bundle of raw nerves sounds like something the Protheans did as opposed to the Reapers.

Sounds like something they'd do to lesser species for sure. Actually it's the aesthetics, they're identical to the Collector's base and Black Arks, which are half Collector, half Prothean. They used to be Prothean, and were Collectorified over time, the Flood in Halo does something similar to things they go on.

The floor futher on:

And the raised things and panel area on the left:

You can see the Prothean part of the ship, the flat, smooth, very shiny black with a hint of green surfaces are Prothean.

Just like the grey metal ring and spike parts of the Black Ark here:

Which are identical to the Oculus:

And the base itself:

All Collector stuff is also Synthesis, fusion with the original Prothean tech. The next cycle would have seen the same thing with Cronos Station, Cerberus Cruisers, and Cerberus Fighters.

Agreed. I always got the sense that the implant was Prothean and that an Oculus was sent to destroy the human it was implanted in (as well as the implant of course).

The theory itself? IT's (excuse the pun) better than anything else out there, including the EC+Leviathan modified endings. I'll hold out until March 5, 2013. I'm still hoping I won't be forced to start subscribing to BWT at that point.

I'll be active until at least then, but it'd important to remember that IT needs no further content to be true, only to matter.

Because I've seen a lot of posts from people in this thread that speak of indoctrination in the ending like it's a fact.

Wouldn't this mentality no longer make them an ITer because they are forgetting what the "T" in IT stands for?
