For such a discussion not mentioning cons is counterproductive. The best way to do that is to acknowledge them and then make it clear why your interpretation makes more sense, without resorting to "IT is good durrhurr".

I did participate in the destroy refuse discussion (although my most important ppst was kind of ignored)..and i also thought it was interesting. And while i understand that there is nothing new to discuss...it would'nt be the first time that happened right? If there was nothing new to discuss, the IT threads were (in my eyes) famous for finding new stuff in old stuff. Or just bull for a few pages...arguments were also pretty common, but they were mor civil if i am not completely mistaken. Even hardcore trolls were treated..well kimd of civil.

Oh right, that thing looked like a flower...

That sort of lookss like that. Now what could that mystery word be after "Impacts Ending". I have heard either Reaper Anatomy, or Reaper mating.

Am I?

I found an article, where some guy says that the ME species are Type I civilizations, Reapers are Type II, and the Crucible is a Type III technology. Can someone explain me how thousands of Type I civ-cycles were able develop a Type III technology? That makes no sense to me...
(Types are referring to Kardashev Scale btw)

Same way, how 1 000 000 000 monkeys, if given typewriters and infinite time can eventually write "War and Peace".

Remember Contact?
To me it's pretty realistic. Given an understandable and suffieciently detailed manual you can have anything built. An understanding of what is being built is not necessarily required for it to be built.

The only thing required is a leap of faith. And that one is easily a given in a desperate situation.

The Infinite monkey theorem? I think that would work if one cycle alone had developed the Crucible, but Vendetta says every cycle adds to it... Assuming the Crucible really IS a Type III technology (I don't actually believe that) no cycle should be able to understand it in a way that allows them to continue development
That would be like (reality-)humanity finding a damaged wormhole-generator and repairing it -> impossibru :P

@maximized: It's not about building it, that wouldn't be a problem, I know; it's about developing and improving it (on the assumption that it is a type III technology)

I don't think the Crucible is Type III. It's just something the Reapers were never going to make. They had their plan, their goal. The Crucible was the great rebel plan that persisted through numerous cycles. It's the pinnacle of Type I tech allied with knowledge of type II, and it's still a pretty blunt baseball bat of a tool.

One cycle accidently developed it. others while trying to figure it out - improved it. (or not, made it worse and clumsier).

What is type I, II and III anyway?

crucible is a dud. Red Herring.

Hey banshee, is your femshep modded in some kimd of way? Or did you use the stock options for face creations? It migjt sound creepy but i want to start a femshep playthrough, and i would want her to look like yours. Reason is, my femsheps always end up looking like your next door porn actress. Yours has that feminine but rough like about her. Seriously i have never started a femshep playthrough so far because of that..i just can't create femsheps   edit: spelling (still plenty of mistakes hidden)

Foreshadow -> Reaper (INSERT WORD HERE) -> said by reaper -> Weakness for Reapers

why use vague terms for the device(crucible) if there was not anything to hide. I'm therefore inferring the crucible is a trap/ there is a hell of a lot more to it that the Reapers don't want us to know.

I'm annoyed I can't read the word after "Reaper" but it is followed in the diagram by "said by reaper" (I think) and then "weakness for Reapers"  -> This is interesting and would like to hear anyone's thoughts on what this could relate to :)

I think someone else said this already, but I see "anatomy". So the reapers have a weak point? It's also blantantly obvious that they made the kid use vague language on purpose. But why? They've done such a good job with the rest of the tech in ME, even the small stuff that doesn't require explanation.

Endings - how do they feel?

How do they feel? Wow. I mean, obviously they were thinking about that, but this is the part I simply don't understand, unless IT. Where were their testers - the people who told them how they felt? You know, in QA? How could this get past QA? Wait, aren't they having a conference about the game's QA in March? Just after the anniversary. Speculations...

Well, I think it's pretty obvious that if literal, this is beyond stupid. They didn't anticipate how people would feel at all. Especially considering the Brave New World reference. I've read the book, and it's clear it's a dystopia. How could writers of all people miss that? Is it even possible? That's why I think it must be IT -
Because it's too stupid to happen otherwise. Posted Image

The whole point of the post was to stir discussion not to be an academic paper about it. You didn't read what I had written with enough attention.

I am going to assume you're placing me under that bracket and fine....though I'm neither a zealot, nor retarded so you might be wrong.

Actually, no, she's not modded at all. I spent a lot of time in the character creation menu. But I've noticed that most of the femsheps males make end up looking... off. Oversexualized. So yeah, I can give you the facecode if you want. Give me a moment to find it.

Types of civilizations according to Kardashev scale
It determines the advancement of a civ by its energy consumption
Basically, a Type I civ uses all the energy of its home planet
Type II all the energy of its star
Type III all the energy of its galaxy

Unofficially, there are Types IV (galaxy cluster universe) and V (dark energy or something multiverse) (edited ;))

Humanity is around Type 0.7 right now

crucible is a dud. Red Herring.

That's one of the possibilities for the red herring reference, yes

Then how the hell the reapers are type II civ?? they are at the very least type III If not higher.
How is crucible suddenly type III technology??

At any rate assigning this thing to a fictional universe is just dumb and a waste of time.
