Ok now, what did the Halo 4 thingy do?
I forgot, and my friend hasn´t come over to finish it in co-op

The Composer took their target into the digital realm to be placed into Promethean Knights. It is more similar to Control, digitizing your mind risks the chance that your mind won't survive and you become an abomination.

Relative diversity changes, absolute diversity stays the same.
Math is on my side my friend. As long as absolute diversity doesn't change there is nothing to worry about at all.

Not quite. Every living thing gets this synthetic "synthesis" tech, therefore every living thing in the Galaxy is more genetically similar to every other living thing and everything that ever will be.

You can't now include the word "absolute" because it fits your argument. We were arguing genetic diversity, and "relative" genetic diversity is just that.

What I've been arguing from the start is that everything becomes more similar...which it does. Maths was on my side, as I proved with my previous posts.

Math shows nothing that is different is removed, so diversity stays the same. There is no point in adding a constant to both sides of the equation, the result stays the same.

No, everything becomes more similar.

What's removed is, for example "eye colour" Now everything is green, so that takes something away. Oh, that takes away something different...uh oh looks like you' wrong. Bye

Too bad the eye color still remains.

Too bad everything's still green. Why are you so condescending? I can admit I got something wrong. Why do you constantly change arguments when you get proven wrong as if that's what you meant from the beginning? Everyone becomes more similar, that's the argument. Also read what others post and you'll realise that.

Are you supporting synthesis now?

Uhm I never changed the argument, I just proved your example of less diversity wrong.

No you didn't. Everyone is more similar, thus genetic diversity is lowered because we're all changed in the same way.

Wasn´t it discussed here before that maybe that´s how the ghost came to life in synthesis, using data or something like using the digital realm

Yes, it was discussed when Halo 4 came out and was used to point out the risk of Control as well as hw Synthesis can connect the real and digital world(think of Digimon whenever I say Digital World).

But there is added. And you don't know nothing is subtracted because we don't see how it affects the mind. We know it affects the mind as there is no conflict. Meaning perhaps the violent-parts of the brain are subtracted? You can't speak in definites when you don't know the complete science of it.

Stuff is definitely added though, and genetic diversity is lowered.

It'a a reference to the joke from Avatar Abridged:
"I did it...For Science! *trumpets blare* And that makes everything okay."

You guys are using an odd model for describing diversity. And the relative (and absolute) overall diversity is changed in Synthesis, that's intuitively clear. If your mathematical model doesn't support that, then your model is wrong.

I find a concept like "entropy of differences in technological advancement or inter-special understanding and compassion" more efficient. It decreases over time and 'eventually' Synthesis is reached.

And what an enforced Synthesis does is it sort of transforms the energy of the Crucible into that advancement and accelerates that.

...just my two cents...:P

If we look at wikipedia (and we can, as you said many times this isn't an academic paper) the definition is

Genetic diversity, the level of biodiversity, refers to the total number of genetic characteristics in the genetic makeup of a species.

Which is in your example equal, (or increased by 1 actually).
