Hey, who would've thought..another nonsensical argument.
At some point you'll have to realize that megumi does not give a flying f**k about an honest debate.
She does however give more of a s**t about pissing people off. And while i disagree with her opinion, i have to admit that it's funny to see how much success she's having.

Megumi never was a 100% behind IT...But some long time ago, you could actually try and debate with her. She even brought up some very reasonable arguments. But that was a veeeeery long time ago.

edit:undeservingly on top

Long ago indeed.  There's a theory that the reason the dinosaurs died out wasn't a meteor, but a mass suicide when arguments with Megumi over the definition of "carnivore" robbed them of the will to live.

I'm no geneticist, but I've only heard of DNA and RNA. Also as I recall the turian gardener states "Things would be alot simpler if we all had the same DNA." implying that turians still have DNA, just based on dextro-protetins as opposed to DNA based on levo-based proteins. the proteins make up the DNA so it is DNA in both cases.

sorry if I got proteins and animo acids mixed up, again, im not a geneticist. :P

Ok I see my fail there, still doesn't change the overall meaning, which is that DNA is only changed by extension, and does not change genetic diversity.

I dont think thats a sticky anyways. The image file claims it to be an announcement icon, so yeah, probably a mistake.

Arguing about the 'science' involved in synthesis when literally all we know about it is that it puts circuits on things that shouldnt have circuits and makes people green is stupid.

Of course the genes are affected, genetic diversity doesn't seem to be.

HOW DO YOU KNOW? You don't. That's your opinion you're trying to force into us that it's 100% right. It's not. We don't know until we know the specifics (This is the 6th time you're going to ignore this fact) so stop speaking in definites.

What definites? Also if there were less diversity we wouldn't even recognize the characters we know. They wouldn't even be human anymore (if they were human before).

Not taking anyone's side, I don't even know what you guys are arguing about. Here's what I think of Synthesis, Catalyst said that organics will finally let synthetics surpass them without restricting them and synthetics becoming more understanding of organics, so that creates an Utopia for everyone.

That is NOT acceptable to me, because organics will no longer "hate" due to the fact that they will have to be accepting of others that are different, like racists won't be racists anymore - so that is, to me, effectively eliminating their own personalities and opinions. Changing their genetics forcibly. Then in time, the organics and synthetics will eventually lose the very soul of who they are - maybe that's what Catalyst wanted, to have them destroyed in end with Reapers still hiding somewhere far away watching the civilization fall. (That's unlikely, though) I don't mean destroyed by reapers, but like there'll be no Shepard that'll be able to defend the organics/synthetics because everyone will allow anyone, even the enemies that will annihilate them all - like the Geth, but a different one that hasn't been touched by the beam, from another galaxy or whatever.

So yeah...no thanks to Synthesis, lol.

Edit: I mean I didn't read everything you guys posted, forgive me for not knowing what's going on!

Hey megumi..let's play your game there for a second. Please show me where it is stated that synthesis changes dna only by adding to it. Not substracting..you know, just for fun? Since you just stqted it as fact..you'll probably have something to back it up.

I think that maybe genetic diversity may be changed overtime as opposed to immediately, though honestly I think it clearly changes DNA somehow, as the starbrat even says it will create "new DNA" that means evolution will likely take a very predictable path, exactly what the Reapers always wanted.

Though the main problem I have with Synthesis is that you are forcing it on an entire galaxy based on your own will without any input from anyone other than the one proposing it to you. to me that seems fundamentally wrong, especially because it has an effect on a galactic level.

You tell everyone not to take everything literally then using the DNA example (may I remind you Quarians and Turians don't have a DNA but DAA?)

Could you provide a link that says that? Because I've never once heard that.

What exactly do you mean by "that"?

The idea that quarians and turians dont have DNA but instead have DAA.

Uhm Deoxyribonucleic acid vs Dextro-amino acids.

Their's is Dextro-based DNA, while ours is Levo-based DNA. We all have DNA, it justs turns in different ways.
If not, we'd be LAA.

I don't think it's to do with DNA, rather the amino acids comprising our respective proteins.
Amino acids are Chiral molecules, meaning they can exist in either one of two forms - so-called "left handed" or levo forms, or right handed - dextro forms.

Both forms have the same atoms, but arranged in different ways due to the finite number of ways they can bond together, much as our hands are mirror images of each other but can't be superimposed over each other.

For some reason, the first forms of life on earth used levo, or left handed amino acids to form their proteins, and that has been conserved ever since. I don't think it would matter about the structure of DNA, or whatever molecule was used to store genetic information. Some viruses have RNA instead of DNA, but they still have the same sorts of amino acids as everything else in their shells.

I love the abridged series, and anime in general, (well maybe not "in general" Posted Image) but unfortunately I doubt many people here will understand the jokes. Posted Image

Okay...
You are aware that the correct set of comparision would be Levo-aminoacids vs Dextro-aminoacids.
The Aminoacids are determined by the DNA, but I'd say that the chirality of the DNA molecule would be responsible for Levo or Dextro. It would still be DNA for Quarians and Turians.

I reccomend anything done by the guys behind Team Four Star (Takahata101, Lanipator, CardGamesFTW aka Little Kuriboh, etc.).
