I'm not sure we were doing that as much as calling the act of synthesis 'genetic rape'

If it were a new language maybe, but it's the language commonly used in Citadel space.

on a human only ship.  warning...code 3.  followed by various alien languages... on a human ship... built by humans... for humans.. not only that, but there are many things about the whole SR2 thing that make no sense... as in why the cockpit is the wrong way round, or there are covered areas all over the place, or the redesign of the power core.  Considering the alliance didnt rebuild the ship, why is the internal design of certain areas of the ship so.....different?

This thread has become increasingly hostile and filled with off-topic. I also noticed that newbies, who asks a question that has been answered, gets treated a bit poorly. Give them a break, this thread is over 3000 pages long, and someone new is not going to read it all.

BTW. Just in case somebody does not know: Not only does the presence of a "BIOWARE" piccie, in the tread listings, tell you that a Bioware employee has posted in a thread, but clicking it will return the thread, filtered for only their posts (...and the OP). Really convenient.

That's a real shame. Rif and spotless often had me in stitches with their acerbic wit.

@theprotheans - I think the misuse of the word "rape" was a seperate issue to the one with Rif. I certainly don't remember him using that term.

It was the strong way he expressed it...apparently. Strong but fair I'd say, but that's in the past now. It's a shame, most of us really liked rif.

Without going back and checking, i'm going to call bull**** on that. Rif is a jerk to Megumi sometimes but he isnt ****ing heartless. The mod probably meant the fact that its common to call synthesis mass rape of the galaxy.

No. Rif may act like an ass, but he wouldn't cross that line.

He was banned for the phrase "thread cancer" and the mod gave a general warning to people using the r word since he sees it alot here in regards to synthesis.

Just for clarification, here's RaenImrahl's post. Rif had a 24hr ban for using the term "thread cancer". The misuse of the term rapist is a seperate issue, which I think the moderator took the opportunity to talk about in the same post, but it's not the reason Rif was banned. I can't remember him calling anyone a rapist off the top of my head, and I certainly don't recall him wishing it on anyone.

For the record, I personally wouldn't apply either of those terms to a fellow gamer. I lost a close relative to cancer, and rape is a serious issue, so I wouldn't makes jokes about either. However, we all make mistakes, and I hope Rif doesn't feel the need to stay away permanently. We need someone to chase off the trolls.

No, the way you phrased it in the context of the preceeding posts, gave the impression that Rif wished rape on you. Which would indeed have been unforgivable had he done so, but he did not.

I'm pretty sure he did something similar some months ago, probably in MK II, so doesn't really matter. Calling people rapist is still wrong.
