It'd only be ironic if the only reason I liked the xbox was because it was made by microsoft, but I really couldnt give a damn who made it.

Cause it is even lamer? (duh)

Fair enough.  I thought that it was better and thought most would feel the same way.  Since this obviously isn't the case nevermind.

I came across something in another thread, a lot of you may have already seen this but I feel like posting it in case you haven't. Its an earlier draft of the Catalyst's dialogue.

It seems like a "normalized" version of the already present dialogue. It sounds much "better" than what we have, yes. So your point is clear to me. Instead of "fixing" the "problem" by having much more friendly and less vague dilogue, they used virtually all of the manipulation techniques they could. Remember that psychology degree? They know how to manipulate people.

In fact, they could have had a Catalyst - a true one - as the avatar for the crucible. It would simply be an AI (or VI) that explains how you can direct the Crucible's energy. Instead, they chose to have it be the leader of the reapers? Why?

Because it is the leader of the reapers?

A good point, especially since Starbrat wasn't even in the original script. In fact, were we even supposed to meet the Reaper's "leader" in the original script?

Also, if the Catalyst hadn't been in control of the Reapers, the backlash against the ending would have been mitigated immensely.

One reason I can think of them going this route is to play up the parallels with the Architect scene in The Matrix, but that leads to other questions.

I've been a PC gamer all my life. I love it. Yes, PCs are superior to consoles. I simply had to switch to Xbox because I really couldn't afford to upgrade my PC all the time any more after I lost my job. That's why I'm on Xbox. Anything you can buy for it works on it, and you'll never have to upgrade. Ever since my last gaming PC died, and my laptop isn't good enough for gaming, I'm stuck with it.

It's okay though. The controllers are actually really good once you get used to them. I have incredibly accurate aim, especially in ME3.

As for all the claims that ME has auto-aim on consoles... does it really? If it does, I've never used it. I always aim manually.

One thing that's cooler on Xbox though, is the weapon feedback on the controller. Especially in ME3. Every weapon has its own unique feel. I really love it. The feel of a weapon is even part of why I favour certain weapons over others. It's great.

The Phaeston, the Harrier, the Avenger, Graal Spike Thrower, they feel awesome to my hands. I absolutely hate the shock from the Eviscerator though.

Yes, this is what I was getting at.  If I approached it from the perspective that the Catalyst should be trusted I would choose what I posted as the in game dialogue but if I went with IT I'd scrap it in favor of the 2nd.  I could easily see an editor looking at the 1st and deciding it needed changing because it sounded too believable though.  They wouldn't want it blatant but they also wouldn't want too many people to buy it.  Dem's opinion of it makes me question myself though, as they could have easily just shared his.

Okay, on retrospect. Cerberus is worse then Geth. Phantoms and Dragoons can die in a fire.

Exactly. And Dem, he is the leader of the reapers, but my point was he didn't need to be. He could have simply been a VI from the Crucible.

how can you tell that it is alive and well? It is winter. the trees are naked and coverd with snow and ice

Oh right, I forgot. Hm, how about: the winter looks very romantic and bloomy and not at all life threatening, cold and dead in the way a winter is.

Interesting fact: According to the leaked script, the snow in the dreams is not snow. It's ashes. From people or things, I know not, however.

I never knew there was snow in the dreams:unsure:... If it was snow, that could have a connection to the planet that the SR1 crashed on and Shepard was effectively dead (but mind intact).

Based on the grimness of the setting, I think we know the answer.

I think it would have been more poetic too.  Mind you, its never stated that is IS snow...

Good point.
@Andro It's only stated in the script, yes. But I also have the impression it is people because, well, the kid turns to ash too. I wish they kept that part! Image IPBImage IPB

It would have been good if it was subtle at first, as if to suggest its snow.  And then it gets thicker and thicker, and darker and darker, and finally we see the kid turn to ash and blow up into the air before falling back down as 'snow'.

I recently had the pleasure of watching Mass Effect: Paragon Lost. I do not know how canonical the events depicted in that movie are (towing away Sovereign intact, for instance), but I did notice that they used a sequence with the classic "serve us" Reaper horn with a Reaper "english voiceover." I do not know if that was intended as a translation or if the voiceover has no connection whatsoever to the Reaper sounds in general. Anyway, would "Submit" add any new meaning to the beam run sequence? :-D

As a side note, if Vega had shown half the character growth in the game as he did in that movie, people would probably treat him better. A cameo from Treeya to explain a fraction of what Vega had been through would have worked.

That's in Paragon Lost?  Cause I noticed that in my last run I just finished... it sounded like Harbinger said "serve us" before blasting Shepard and having the bright white light fade into the end game run that could be indoctrination... but I just chalked it up to wanting to hear something there :P

The serve us line is probably nothing. It's convenient though, I admit.

I'm sitting in London right now staring at rubble.

The legend of Shepard needs to be rewritten. I hope I'm there for the last chapter.

Are you actually in London now, staring at rubble- hench this origin?

Or is it a reference from somewhere? I haven't seen if it was from the latter. If that was a tweet, that'd be a dead-give away to the ending being more then meets the eye. :)

Wha?

Just posted a couple of quotes I just heard/read ingame. They're kind of funny now. Anderson staring at rubble in London. Kai Leng referring to Shepard's "legend" in the same way as that datapad and the Stargazer.

On another note: Sadface. I don't technically have Javik in my PC playthrough, but I used gibbed to have him. He appears normally except he never appears in Port Cargo. Unfortunately, that means I can't resolve the fight he has with Liara :(

Edit: Sorry if I got anyone's hopes up unnecessarily. Image IPB
