*Selective snip* Comments in blue. I always like to remember when I'm immersed in a story that the characters are not only speaking to each other but throught the character to the audience.
Okay on Thessia Tim says " They are just trying to Control US. Think about it. If they wanted all organic life Destroyed, they could do it..." At this part of the game I was open to control a bit. I mean if the reapers were fighting Cerberus on sancturary Cerberus must be on to something. Little disappointed that there was no way to let Miranda's Dad live. I know he was a monster, but given the stakes...(mmm steak) I would have been open to working with him, with him dead I didn't believe there was a chance in hell Cerberus could control anything.
then TIM says " I know them Shepard. I know how they think." One thing the writers of Mass Effect hit us on the head over and over again is that the reaper motives are unknowable. This is a warning sign of indoctrination and why you should always be wary of the starchild. If the geth with all their fancy microchips cannot fathom what the reapers mind is like after interfacing with one how is a starchild going to explain in a minute the entire reaper mindset? More likely the mind rationalizes serving the reapers, one way or another.
Then TIM says: "And I can say the same to you. Wasting your time, on a war that can not be won."
But then Shepard says " At LEAST I am fighting."
dam makes you wonder if Destroy you are still fighting. "This is very true, indoctrination changes the way you think and act in ways you may or may not be able to explain. If the decision chamber is an overlay of reality what exactly is Shepard shooting at? The conduit beam dies when Shepard chooses destroy, could it be possible that if Shepard will not willingly open his mind to indoctrination that the reapers will compel Shepard to sabotage the conduit beam thus making sure no one makes it to the citadel?
But then TIM says " Never question my ability to fight. I've been fighting the Reapers longer than you can imagine." It's a miracle TIM has lasted so long before going full bore indoctrinated.
But then TIM says later[b] " Shepard there are choices coming that you're not equipped to make." TIM is currently 100% correct, ME3 ends in a cliffhanger with Shepard still in London in a bunch of rubble with Harbinger still around. Not a very good position to be in. Shepard does not have the tools to win the battle against the reapers...yet. *cough* DLC.
You know, people complain about your giant walls of text, masster, but I like how you always pull evidence directly from the source.
This dialogue definitely has some interesting elements. The foreshadowing about the "choices you are not equipped to make" might be a hint that TIM knows about the Starbrat.

And Otter, now that I read Evolution, TIM wanting to Control the Reapers, was never what he wanted at all, but since the Proto Reaper was in his base, It got to him because TIM knew already, that he could not Control the Reapers, or the troops, because he saw first hand in Evolution, that It's the Reapers that Control the forces, not anyone elsem you can't Control them at all because the Reapers Control them. And you can Compair ME3 to Evolution because TIM is like Saren's brother, and Shepard is now Jack Harper, but is not influenced by the Reapers just yet.
Okay how about this one eveyone/Megum.

Out of curiousity, what is this thread actually about now?
It can't just be about "dream theory" IT.
It never was.
This thread is for all speculation.
Besides. Calling the theory a "dream" is a gross oversimplification.
A better description of what we would term it would be; An allegorical and symbolic battle for Shepard's soul against the manipulations of the Reapers.
What we see could be happening, to some extent, but no matter what, unlike a dream, choices here have real world consequences.
I say "dream theory" because it supposedly takes place in a dream. Correct?
You can't defeat indoctrination. It involves a physiological change as well a psychological. There is no basis in game lore that indoctrination can be outright beaten, much less beaten in your sleep. It would be like saying you could survive radiation poison if you fell asleep and made the right choices in respect to an allegorized depiction of the radioactive material. Some people may survive for longer than others, but if you absorb a lethal amount of radiation you will die. And with indoctrination, sooner or later you will be enthralled. Another problem I see with it is that the breathe scene only occurs with high EMS ending.
I believe an indoctrination attempt is occuring and it is up to the player rather it fails or succeeds within the timeframe between the confrontation with TIM (or even the Harbinger blast) and the final choice. My take on it.
No.
A dream and a hallucination are two very different things, both literarily speaking, as well as physically.
Dreaming is a state of sleep in which the mind is examining thoughts and events of the day. Dreaming beings do not commonly move during dreaming, which is only accessed in the lowest stages of sleep.
Dreaming implies a coma. Some here do eschew to the idea that Shepard never got up after Harbinger shot him, (see the comparison of the London Rubble to the Citadel, which is the major crux for this argument. I advise checking out Gunslinger_ruiz's examination if you can find it.)
Others, like myself prefer to cleave to the idea that Shepard is amublatory, but not completely in possession of his faculties.
The majority of this argument is based off the fact that the Crucible Chamber and the Beam Shuffle (the area directly in front of the beam) are remarkably similar to one another in appearance and layout. Instead of grasping a actual Crucible Control panel, arcing with electricity, Shepard could be grabbing a pair of downed wires. Instead of diving into a Synthesis-Beam, Shepard could be throwing himself at the Reaper Beam. Instead of firing at some Synthetic-Destroying Tube, Shepard could just as easily be shooting at some piece of Reaper equipment.
Indoctrination does INCORPORATE physical changes, but with the exception of brain chemistry, indoctrination does not itself change the body. It does make the subject more willing to undergo Reaper Implantation.
Examples; The Illusive Man did not always have the cybernetics he has at the end, which, for that matter, may not even be real, merely symbolic of his Reaper Control. His eyes are a result of indirect contact with the Arca Monolith, which was capable of reducing an individual down into a husk-like being, similar to the actions of Dragon's Teeth.
Basically, not all indoctrinated individuals have glowing blue eyes like those of The Illusive Man, but everyone who has those eyes is indoctrinated.
Saren, according to the developers, was originally supposed to be a bit more... normal looking, like other Turians early in the game, grey skin-plates, full body, ect. Due to time constraints, they simply used the Reaper implanted body from later throughout the entire game. Saren was indoctrinated the entire time.
We of course never did say indoctrination can be entirely "beaten" but it can be resisted. Shepard is only completely indoctrinated if he makes the wrong choice. Otherwise, he still continues to resist.
Think of this less as "Shepard beats something in a dream" and more "Representation of Shepard's Ego resists indoctrination"
Indoctrination, unlike radiation, is not a physical threat, it's a mental one. Yes there are aspects of indoctrination, such as infrasound, that DO have deletrious physical effects, but most will not kill you while you sleep, and most merely effect body and brain chemistry.
And for the record, Indoctrination can be "beaten" in a sense. Saren and The Illusive Man both can do so. Though, since they were both completely indoctrinated, it ended in their suicide. Also, the Feros Colonists, Shiala and The Rachni have resisted Indoctrination for years, due to the helpful influences of a hive mind.
