So, has anyone considered the possibility that the destroy option destroys not the Reapers themselves but rather the Reaper collective? In other words, it sends out a signal with the the relays that corrupts or destroys the Catalyst's hold on the Reapers?

I suggest this because it would bring an explanation to the Arrival "game over" image of Reapers attacking each other. The Crucible might operate with the intention of turning the Reapers against each other. Any thoughts on this?

What?

Yeah, if you look up the Arrival images, you can see Reapers attacking each other. See this:

Not sure where to look.

Oops sorry.  Look at the 0:51 mark.  You'll see a Reaper being hit by several Reaper beams

I thought some of the Reapers were being blown appart by the beam.

Some do seem to be exploding from the beam.  But, depending on how deeply rooted the indoctrination effect goes, this could be Shepard envisioning what happens.

And as for the attack on the Citadel being Harbinger shooting off multiple beams, this is true, but it looks as if some of the beams were directed towards a different Reaper that briefly appears on the right side of the screen.  I could be wrong of course. But it's just a thought.  I've the Reaper vs Reaper topic brought up before and it got me thinking 1) if there was any significance to the claim and 2) if the Crucible could bring this Reaper civil war about

Uh, please take it easy.  Insulting him won't help.  We've seen that already. Posted Image  Also, arguing with a brick is no fun.  It doesn't provide any humor besides the inherent humor that others (Though probably not you yourself.) would extract from watching someone arguing with a brick.

Believe me, after the mood Bw put in, I am taking it easy.  People coming up to me IRL are lucky not to get assaulted.

Calm before the storm...

Anyway. Cool, new IT thread. Now we have to work our way up to 2000 again. 40 pages in a day is not a bad start.

Been away from the boards for a while. Anything new?

He was kidding.  30 is the new twenty - we're half-joking when we say we're old.  We just know that to the typical teen video game player, we're ancient.

I'm only barely 20, and I make jokes that I'm old.

But that partially comes from being the professor from Back to the Future in a 20 year old body.

I have a brother who is in his fourties, another in his thirties who jokes that I'm his late twin. Believe you me, 30 ain't that old. Not even to videogame tweens.

Even if the endings are literal, destroy would really be the only way to go if they wanted to make a sequel, since that's the only way the galaxy keeps its potential for conflict.

And what conflict. Say what you want about the ending, but through Mass Effect 3 Bioware has set themselves up for a treasure trove of possibilities in a potential sequel.

The entire balance of power in the Galaxy has been radically changed and the unstable times which will follow the Reaper war as everyone tries to find their footing again offers some great posibilities for a continuation.

Going from a paragon playthrough of the Mass Effect trilogy we got:
  • The Turians while having been steadfast in the war were hit hard and their fantastic military lies in ruins.
  • The Asari while not hit as fast as the Turians and as such probably suffering fewer losses, they have to stand and answer for the witholding of a Prothean Artifact from the galactic whole.
  • The Salarians largely tried to only protect themselves and will probably pay the price as the war is won without them contributing a large part. They also face problems between the Goverment and Military which could tear them apart form within.
  • The Humans, who though hit as hard as the Turians, were also the ones who made victory possible through the heroic effort of Commander Shepard.
  • A rising power of the Geth and Quarians combined on Rannoch who no doubt will want something to say in galactic politics.
  • The Krogan now cured of the Genophage who will ocne again be rebuilding and become a factor in the galaxy.
  • The Rachni ready to rebuild after having been near extinct.
  • And finally we got the destroyed Batarians whose old habitable planets are now desserted even as the surviving Batarians struggle to rebuild in a galaxy which had a not so friendly view of them.
Add in some Reapers tech drifting around, some Yagh on the rise and the general intsability following a major war and you got one explosive cocktail of galactic politics and shifting power balances.

In my opinion it would be a shame to let such an opputunity and set up for a game go to waste.

I've... I've been saying the exact same thing for months, and no one noticed. :crying:

Well, I'm off for the night.  Also, just in case I don't respond to invites tomorrow, but I'm in ME3, it's probably because I'm using the SMAA injector on ME3 and it doesn't let me use the Origin overlay. (techno speak incoming) SMAA is a cool form of post-processing anti-aliasing that actually smooths edges better than the FXAA ME3 normally uses, without any of the image blurring that comes from FXAA. Plus, the performance impact is STILL practically nonexistant. For the PC players out there, I would suggest looking up the SMAA Injector if any of you are interested in trying something different. The only problem is that it MIGHT be viewed as a mod/cheat by Origin if you try multiplayer, so I wouldn't suggest tempting fate. Anyway, now, I'm off! I'll see you all tomorrow.

Edit: One last thought.  The SMAA injector is NOT ME3 specific.  It should work on pretty much any DX9/10/11 game.  The most notable exception that I've heard of is Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but apart from that, I haven't heard of any compatibility problems.
