Geez, I wish I'd known there was an IT plat group.  Liked to have tried a round.  I haven't been to platinum yet because PUG people are rarely as good as they think.  The other day I was in a gold match with a drell adept whose strategy was "pull, then heavy melee."  I'm not kidding.  By extraction he had yet to get a biotic kills medal.  I don't think I ever saw a reave.

And I had just bought this because I was sick of not being able to communicate.  Never even got a chance to use it. <grumble>

It was unofficial, in all honesty, I was hosting and asked, "Hey you guys feeling suicidal?" Turbo sugguested a friend who had nearly gotten them through Plat before.

Being a girl at Uni would have its advantages...free drinks and such

But being a shy man means I can buy my own drinks and screw up my speech so when trying to ask a girl if I can buy her a drink I say something like "Hey, mumble mumble I like your face" before spilling it all over myself :P

Oooh true story time:
Last year I ended up making out with this girl I had a crush on right. Asked her out and she agrees. Two days later "best we stay friends" okay sadface that's fine. Few days later bump into her in town ask why she changed her mind and apparently she got with me to see if I was gay or not.

I'm one of those people who, on occasion, masquerades as a moron. I will, also on occasion, intentially play mind games with people; sometimes to teach them a lesson, sometimes out of pure curiocity of witnessing their reactions. Somebody should make one of those stupid internet quizzes as a joke. "Which BW employee are you?" Answer some pointless questions and then after careful analysis (or we just flip a coin, who cares) it tells you which one you're most similar to. "Congratulations, you're a clone of Jessica Merizan. Your breasts have separate fan clubs, and both are headed by that lex0r guy."

EDIT: Editted for format errors.

Seeing as the speculations are low, I figure I can post one of my original wall of text posts in from the first thread. Revised for some grammar issues and clarity. Let's see if it can sitll hold up:

[Warning: Speculations ahead]
Seeing as Shepard has been near and in direct contact with numerous pieces Reaper technology it's not impossible that the mark of indoctrination is somewhere in his/her mind but not in an ample enough manner for him/her to become a husk or Reaper thrall, or maybe Shepard is just too resistant to the effects.

Once the Reapers land in force on Earth they attempt to take control of Shepard through this "mark", this is when you see the boy in the vent that seemingly disappears. Shepard's mind is somehow too much for the Reapers to take control of, you continue resist where NO OTHER organic in existence has and continue on your mission to rally the galaxy. This also happens during the Arrival DLC, although that seemed to be more a direct control attempt.

The Reapers may be surprised, but not unprepared. They continue to attempt taking control of you when you are feeling weak or stressed as the story goes on, sending their indoctrination signal in the forms of your Nightmares. Nightmares that get progressively worse, potentially the Reaper signal getting stronger. The only thing that wakes you is the shock of seeing the boy engulfed in fire, and yourself engulfed in the last nightmare as well. Possible the fire is your mind/willpowers way of warning you, snapping you out of indoctrination.

The Illusive Man is obviously indoctrinated by the end of the game. Everything he says and does is what the Reapers want him to do. They allow him discover their control signal, allow him to figure out how to implant a means to emit this control signal in some kind of cybernetic implant (you can see him getting ready for some kind of surgical procedure in a video log in his base).

Harbinger sets the stage during the Beam run, grazing Shepard enough to nearly kill him/her when it can just as easily reduce Shepard to dust with its cannons. Shepard is weakened enough for The Illusive Man (perhaps from the Citadel while Shepard is unconscious) to act as a signal booster to assume control of Shepard for the Reapers.

Shepard "wakes up," but is really still fighting off indoctrination from that point when you open your eyes and grab that Carifex hand cannon, everything after is your struggle against the Reaper cotnrol signal. The Illusive Man, implanting himself in your hallucination, does his best to convert you to his way of thinking, he "needs you to believe," him, therefore, the Reapers need you to believe him/them. Anderson is there as a manifestation of your willpower, when you are forced to shoot him, you begin to bleed out from the same wound moments later. You can convince The Illusive Man through paragon dialogue that he is indoctrinated; he will opt for shooting himself and potentially kill himself in the real world, "the body cannot live without the mind." Through renegade dialogue or action you can shoot him yourself. Both of these result in his death and puts a stop to the "signal boost" he provided, allowing you to progress in the hallucination as desired, opening the Citadel arms and relaxing next to Anderson. Anderson, or your willpower, was gravely wounded by TIM's indoctrination, he therefore served his purpose in weakening your will. TIM's death WOULD NOT end indoctrination since the Reapers are the true power behind the indoctrination signal.

Anderson/your willpower dies, and you pass out crawling to the Citadel control panel. This is what the Reapers wanted, and they assume full control over the indoctrination attempt thanks to TIM's effort. The Catalyst gives you three choices, each of them with odd explanations. Everything about the room seems surreal, your own voice coming from the Catalyst, the echo in the room, the Catalyst appearing as the child you failed to save.

You pick the blue option; you appear to become a thrall with The Illusive Man's eyes, something I relate to being a Reaper agent. And the last of your will dies as you disintegrate in the dream. When you awake in the real world, your body and its unique ability to resist the Reapers now belong to them.

The green option is much the same, though I view it more as leaping directly into the Reaper's influence than trying to take control over it. It ends with the same result as blue.

You take the red option. The only choice that seems sane in a crazy situat, you go out gun blazing defeating the Reapers in your hallucination despite the potential consequence to the Geth, EDI, and yourself, "Even you are partly synthetic." Your will overpowers the Reaper's influence. You wake up in a pile of rubble on Earth, near the Beam, nearly dead from Harbingers attack. But you still draw breath.

Resisting the elaborate indoctrination attempt may even cause the entire Reaper fleet to stumble for moments, precious moments that the Allied fleet can use to decimate Reaper forces. Similar to when you defeated the possessed Saren in ME1, Sovereign assumed direct control of his corpse and with his defeat Sovereign was stunned just long enough to be destroyed. According to a codex entry this “flaw” in the Reaper system was corrected and can no longer be used. But this is not the same manner of possession used on Saren, this is Shepard completely rejecting the indoctrination signal and potentially sending a feedback wave through it to all Reapers.

[/speculations]

Welp, in all honesty, I'd rather be shy than what I am now.

Inwardly shy, outwardly arrogant and cold. :(

I have a tendency to be an arrogant loudmouth, usually think poorly of my own attractiveness, which I don't see much capable of attracting more than flies, and usually tend to hold myself back from even asking the question by going "Eh, she's probably married/engaged/has a boyfriend, I wouldn't want to be a ****** and but in on that."

I've had two girlfriends in my life.

One, two years younger, I loved like a sister, then cared about passionately. She was fun, bubbly, beautiful and kind. I had a two week relationship with her before she disappeared a while, only to return months later on the arm of a fellow closer to her own age.

The other was also two years younger. She was someone I took because I was desperate. She was plain, needy, selfish, manipulative and conceited. I had a relationship with her for two months, went to second base with her, and left her when she started threatening to commit suicide if I left her, or failed to live up to her expectations and romanticized ideals by not providing her with sufficient attention. (She never backed herself up on that promise by the way, a year later and she's still cussedly alive, not that I paticularly care.)

Guess which relationship I was happier to have.

He was kidding.  30 is the new twenty - we're half-joking when we say
we're old.  We just know that to the typical teen video game player,
we're ancient.

A friend of mine is 60 and he still plays video games.

Speaking about IT though, there's probably going to be a point where we're pretty much uncovered everything about this theory and the ending. Unless there's more little details that we missed in that last 20 minutes or so of the game. Just finished watching that 3 hour documentary and there's quite a lot of stuff I missed.

If this beam is some sort of teleporter (I don't believe Mass Effect has them), but let's say it is. As soon as you step into the beam, you get deconstructed down to a molecular level, and reconstructed once you reach the top. If your molecules travel throught the Earth's atmosphere at temperature of a few thousand degrees, then you'd get burned up while beaming up there. Wouldn't even get the chance to reconstruct yourself. More proof that this isn't real.

This is actually true, but I'm not compatible with anything.

Also, Banshee, you're probably right. Maybe we'll get something on Shepard's birthday, too? That'd be nice seeing as the Commander hasn't had time to celebrate her own birthday in what, almost three years?
