I will come back after this conversation is over. Back to playing WoW.

You... weren't here to begin with.

I doubt that MB is "all there" anywhere. :P

Hopefully, but still, not in the literal version where Starchild tells you the truth.

I'm sorry, did you just use the words "starchild" and "truth" in the same sentence?

Wrong - in the literal version the starchild says: "My creators? you wouldn't know them, they became the firts reaper, the didn't want to... bla-bla, anyway it's not important, choose one of 3!"

If you're so eager to be literal - why did you ignore the part when he says "it is not important."? :wizard:

I'm not the one ignoring anything. Even if Starchild thinks it's not important, it doesn't mean it's not true. Have you seen the extended cut?

Reaper origin story - is really interesting subject. We should speculate! )

Also when I say that Arian's version is uninterestin, what i mean is it lacks the twist.

In every other revalation in Mass Effect, everywhere throught the story - there is a twist to some degree.

Sovereign's a not a reaper ship but an actual reaper! There is a giant intelligent plant right under Zues's Hope, and all the air is fillied with it's mind controlling spores! Rachni are really inteligent and not really violent! The releay statue at the presidium is really a relay! Collectors are really protheans! Shadow broker is really some huge monster dude! Kenson and the whole project personal are indoctrinated!

I can really go on very long time. There is a mindset changing twist almost in every mission and story arc.

And while Arians story is well thought out, and detailed, and logical, it lacks the WTF twist factor.
Now, if say reaper origin spiecies turned out to be very small and primitive, like fungus, or moss, or say reapers we really just the caretakers, for race of sentient biengs who are really the stars (that's right - stars are alive, and reapers take care of them)... or some thing even les predictible, but still logical - the thing, once you hear it - you'd go - " of course! It was right under our nose! It makes total sense!"

The fact that the IT is so popular among the core Mass Effect fans has very much to do with this tradition of mindblowing twists, that were there from the start and make the core and heart of ME's story.

Demersel this is Arians theory on Reaper Origins

No, this is wrong, boring and uninspiring. )))

Reaper are really the the product of evolution of some parasitic micro fungus or moss - they are not even intelligent to begin with. )))

lolwut?

True story. Somewhere in the old thread i mde a very long and detailed post outlining their possible origin. Initially they were some fungus or bacteria with one need - to feed - and one ability - to indoctrinate and subvert. Reapers are really not even sentient. ))

Please stop pretending to be a russian, it's embarrasing. <_<

Demersel, there are no "uninspired" or "uninteresting" theories. There are theories supported by evidence and theories that are not. We must follow the evidence and craft a theory that cleanly fits each individual piece. A theory crafted around opinion and preconceptions is like a building without supports.

The straightforwardness of a theory is not an argument against its truth.

It is an argument to whether i like or not, and to wether or not i'm interested in discussing it.

Also - presence of the catalyst in mass effect if fact supported by evidence. But everithing about it is uninteresting, and unispired. That is why there was so much uproar and discontent about the endings in the first place.

Interesting find on the supposed "Reaper horn" during the TIM/Anderson conversation. Good speculations.

Thanks. =)

Turns out I'm not the first to discover this though. Priss Blackburne already brought it up in Mark II. A lot of people must have missed it, including myself.

On the subject of reaper horn - there was a special episode of bioware pulse solely devoted to sound design of Mass Effect 3 and it focused on the defining, finding, creating and implementing the sound for the reaper horn. - maybe we should rewatch it and search for clues.
