@spotlessvoid no I don't think it's just PR, it was the one of the first things I thought about they tried to do, and I believe it. You can read some of my older posts. I usually gave it the benefit of doubt that it might be literal, even though I think it is indoctrination.
All in all you can clearly say the first part after beaming up is, but you can just guess if the second part (the one with the Guardian) is too. I mean the first part is pretty straight forward, but for the second part you just can't tell.

Guy's this is completly unrelated but When I found it I just had to show this to you.
This maybe is what some of you want to do after reading FFZero's post.
And if Casey is reading...I'm sure he would laugh at this to.

About that...
the way the outcome of Synthesis was portraid in the EC wasn't that horrible, it seems actually quite science fiction-y. My biggest problem with Synthesis however is, and has been pre-EC, is that it's forced, and by that unnatural. I don't care how 'powerful' and 'all knowing' the Guardian is, he is not a purely natural force, and I don't believe that anything can become such a thing (in other terms, a god). THAT Bioware has to keep in mind that players differ in these matters.
And so, even if Synthesis is inevitable, so is the cosmic thermodynamical equilibrium, but it doesn't mean that we now 'have to' force that by detonating every star.
So, would I them have been happy if they instead introduced a time machine that forced me to live in the future where Synthesis is reached, then? No...SO DROP THE SYNTHYPOP!

Also, PLFranke, I don't know why or if it's intentional but you're sullying the place with negative waves and instead of providing constructive criticism you're treading on people's toes and generally being an arrogant ass. Please cut it out.

Some great stuff. Certainly nothing relevant or important, but it's a good read. Two picks from Chris Priestly.

In Mass Effect 1 it was established that the Reapers shut down the relay network in previous cycles so everyone was isolated (said by Vigil). Why did previous generations build the Crucible, a device that requires active relays, when they couldn't deploy it? If they built it during their cycle, how did everyone get there and how did they move it to the Citadel?

exactly. what is the extent of synthesis? this is where the ending truly fails. even if this was their big ending and the way they wanted to go out on the trilogy there should have been way more detail involved. does everyone share thoughts now? there are so many questions and absolutely no answersDJBare wrote...

Because I'm smart.
Look, I'm talking fully integrated cyborgs and protein based technology, not whatever the heck we see in the ME3 ending.

We are already heading in that direction despite it being primitive by ME3 standards, artificial implants, pace makers, all that kind of thing, but I agree with Prime, it's jumping the evolutionary process in ME3 which not could but would be disastrous, "We learn by doing"plfranke wrote...

And I have the biggest respect for him for what he and his team accomplished by establishing a whole sci fi franchise that is so rich and able to stand on its own feet for more than just one title.
But I guess people just pick someone to get the grief out. But while they seem funny from time to time, they of course can be consifered personal attacks, which of course unacceptable. In fact, I shall edit my previous post.

I think the first answer although meant as a deflection is just showing that there really are no answers to some of the big plot holes in the story. It's just bad writing.Arkennys wrote...

LOL. Even if you hate Casey (Which I don't.) you got to respect him. He is pretty much the George Lucas of the modern sci-fi genre of videogames. Mass Effect is this generations equivalent to Star Wars. That deserves respect no matter who you are.

Remember tweeting that to him weeks before ME3 came out. Still stand by my tweet.
Well, if it helps, he recently was quoted saying that there's "LOTS more to come" for Mass Effect.

Hmm, I have to say Casey is closer to Rodenberry than Lucas, but I guess that's because ME3 is a space soap opera.TJBartlemus wrote...
