But that's not the "inevitable result of the evolutionary progression of life". Implementation of synthetic implants are only for when it needs to replace organoc functions that have failed for some reason. It's for the betterment of those who cannot live a normal life.

Yup, that's how it starts. It will first be the sick and wounded to get these implants. But when it becomes more and more normal, and the more the technology itself progresses, it will have reached the stage where humans would freely buy synthetic limbs on the streets. People will want this so that they can better their performances. Eventually, it will become the norm for people to have some kind of synthetic enhancer inside them.

Even if the entire galaxy were unanimous to go synthesis over night, they would have skipped the adaptation process and that's why I cannot buy into instant synthesis.

That's what I'm saying! It will take centuries. Millenia, perhaps. But when organic life finally has achieved Synthesis by itself, then they're ready. Synthesis is not something that can occur from one day to the other.

They have to discover Synthesis by themselves. They can't get it from someone else, otherwise they're not ready.

You guys are not talking as if this is what will happen in real life. are you? Synthesis isn't even part of the theory of evolution. Synthesis is merely science fiction.

Technically you could argue that they are already going down the synthesis route. Genetic modification is very prevalent in the ME Universe and what is genetic modification essentially?  Using technology to improve our lives by eradicating or removing illnesses and physical weaknesses that can’t necessarily be cured by conventional medicine. Yes it's a huge step away from being implanted with technology that replaces certain physical functions but it is based on similar thinking.

My apologies, I misread what you were saying, agreed, it is a millenia time process, but we won't notice happening until we look at history, an example being is we can look at ourselves now and then at history and see the differences between us and our stone age ancestors.

Synthesis as presented in ME3? No. Certainly not. But a certain form of it will happen. Synthetic limbs, for example. Stuff like that is scientifically possible.

Synthesis is purely when an organic isn't totally organic anymore. It only needs to be partly synthetic to be a certain form of synthesis.

Exactly. In about 1000 years, our descendants will look back at this age and ask, "why didn't our ancestors use implants to better themselves?"

While it exists in the ME universe, it is in the background. The narrative never focuses on it, and when it does mention creatures that are true organic/synthetic hybrids like Saren, or Collectors or Reapers, they are presented in a negative light. Thus, the sudden thematic 180 is almost as bad with synthesis as it is with control.

Depending on how long the human race continues then over a millenia it "might" happen that evolution combines organic and synthetic, but the real issue is not whether it happens or not, but how fast it happens.

It is. Synthesis is nothing else than a melding of two different things. By putting cybernetic enhancements in your body, be it synthetic limbs or implants to help better performance, you're not purely organic anymore. You're a melding of both synthetic and organic. You have a synthesis inside youreslf.

I would like Synthesis, only if it takes time, and I mean a long time to occurer. Yet It's going to cause a huge problem, if Synthesis happence, then everyone will be the same, and everything, will be peaceful, but it's going to cause a hugh problem. If this is the end of evelution, then there will be no purpose in life. If Synthesis can transened mortality, then no one will die, and everything will be boring.

Yes there may be wars, gangs, and what knot, but the cycle will start over again.

If there was ever an organic race that did not adapt to Synthesis, then it's going to cause a hugh problem. Organics would create Synthetics. Synthetics will try to find a why to become Synthesis race, but in the end if an Organic race can not get Synthesis, then they will create a new Reaper, that will try to find away to solve the problem.

Once it concludes that the only way to evolve the Organic race, is to harvest every Synthesis race, in order to fix the Organics DNA, to give them Synthesis.

In other words. Synthesis will be the end for everything. There will be no dying, No more evolution which is bad because if we can't adapt to a problem, then we die. Also if a Synthesis race, or group, want's to be an Organic, or Synthtic race again, then they will try to destroy/ harvest all Synthesis life, to fix there problem they are in.

I thought she was just bio-engineered and given biotic implants? When I think full on synthesis, I think Ghost in the Shell, not genetic modification and the occasional cybernetic implant.

Not true, masster. That's simply how Bioware depicts it. But that isn't true synthesis.

Synthesis won't make people the same, and it won't stop wars. DNA doesn't start a war, differing opinions and beliefs do. Synthesis also isn't the end for anything. Organics will still evolve, and it is an organic being itself that has to decide if it'll be a part of Synthesis, or if it will remain organic.

Yeah, I just finished Deus Ex: HR today, and that's what got me and my brother rhinking about Synthesis. Humans will always strive to better themselves, and the eventual result of this singularity of constant self-improvement will be synthesis.

Except there's no actual limit to creating technology with the sophistication and component scale similiar to living tissue. And if the pace keeps up, we'll be making that kind of technology in the not too distant future. And integrating/creating people with it.

There'll be replicants in the streets I tell ya. Nanoaugs everywhere!

Man I wish a time traveller from just 100 years from now will come here and tell us how silly our dreams and predictions are.
